Ollie Capps Love, 91, of Bessemer, died June 22, 2000. She was a member of McDonalds Chapel Methodist Church and was employed as a bookkeeper and worked as a volunteer with the American Red Cross.
She is survived by her son, William M. Capps Sr., his wife, Sandra, of Birmingham; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Charter Funeral Home directed the services. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the American Red Cross.

Sylacauga resident
Elizabeth Headley Masters, 78, of Sylacauga, died June 15, 2000, at Talladega Health Care.
She is survived by one son, Robert Masters of Sylacauga; four daughters, Pat Maxwell of Westover, Margaret Cain and Charlene Cain, both of Columbiana, and Joyce Nibblett of Pelham; two brothers, Red Headley and J.C. Headley, both of Pelham; three sisters, Beatrice Snow of Birmingham, Marianel Caton and Grace Hutchinson, both of Pelham; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held June 17 at 2 p.m. at Curtis and Son Funeral Home, North Chapel in Sylacauga with the Rev. Keith Pugh officiating.
Grandsons served as pallbearers. Burial was in Harpersville Cemetery, Curtis and Son Funeral Home, North Chapel directing.
VIOLET A. MCANNALLY
Chelsea resident
Violet A. McAnnally, 60, of Chelsea, died June 21, 2000.
She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Easley of Clanton; two sons, Kenneth McAnnally of Chelsea and Robert McAnnally of Bessemer; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Opelia Patterson, Bonnie McAnnally and Kate New, all of Chelsea; three brothers, Eltis Alexander of Wetumpka and Farris Alexander and Duke Alexander, both of Columbiana.
Services were held June 24 at Bolton-Brown Chapel. Burial was in Pinelawn Gardens, Bolton-Brown Service directing.
EARNEST PATTON JR.
World War II veteran
Earnest Passon Jr., 75, of Greenville, died June 19, 2000. He was a lifelong resident of Greenville and was retired from Union Camp Chatom. He also was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Greenvile, where he served as chairman of the Board of Deacons.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Patton; children, Henry Neel Patton, George Earl Patton, Irene Patton, Ilene Patton and Dianne Carroll Patton; brothers, Willie Ray Patton and James Patton; sisters, Georgia Mae Swing, Alma Lee Spivey, Annie Pearl Womack; Tubbie Hunt, Annie Mae Hunt and Eva Mae Brown; and seven grandchildren.
Services were held June 25 at the church, Pastor Daniel Kidd and Rev. Carl Daniel officiating. Burial was in the church Cemetery, Westside Funeral Home Calera directing.
VELMA LOUISE BURTON SMITH
Business owner
Velma Louise Burton Smith, 60, of Montevallo, died June 22, 2000. Born and raised in Hornbeak, Tenn., she traveled to Bakersfield, Ca., where she was founder/proprietor of Fisher Oil Well Service. Upon returning to Hornbeak, she established and operated Black Gold Farms and Hornbeak Tavern. Her myriad of adventures led her to the first weapons disarmament sight then to Johnson Island in the South Pacific with Yeargin Construction Co. then to Gulf Port, Miss. then Montevallo.
She was preceded in death by parents, Florence Johnson and Virgil Burton of Hornbeak, Tenn. and her husband, Speed Edward Smith of Bakersfield, Ca.
She is survived by her daughters, Anita Lane of Greenville, S.C. and Donna Fisher of Sugarland, Texas; a son, Will Fisher of Bakersfield, Ca.; a sister, Allene Short of Maury City, Tenn.; a brother, Allen Burton of Hornbeak, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Shannon Austin, Heather Watson, Tiffany Scales and Haley Fisher; and one great-grandchild, Aleigha Watson.
A memorial services was held June 26 at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel, Rockco Funeral Home directing.
Francis Edwin West Sr.
Alabaster resident
Francis Edwin West Sr., 74, of Alabaster, died June 21, 2000. He was a printer and a member of Alabaster First Baptist Church. He also was a Mason.
He is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Mize of Montevallo; a son, Francis E. West Jr. of Alabaster; three sisters, Eloise Wintter of Bessemer, Emily Smitherman of Alabaster and Alice Stainton of Mobile; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held June 23 at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel, Bro. Wayne Crumpton presiding. Burial was in Still Memorial Cemetery, Rockco Funeral Home directing.
PAUL CAMERON BUSH
Calera Elementary student
Paul Cameron Bush, 8, of Calera, died May 30, 2000. He was a member of Calera Baptist Church and attended Calera Elementary School. He also was a member of Calera Dixie Youth Baseball.
He is survived by his mother, Tracy L. Bush of Calera; his father, Paul Bush of Calera; a brother, Connor Bush of Calera; grandparents, J.W. Bush and Lynn Bush of Montevallo and Norma Loftin of Calera; and great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy M. Loftin of Calera.
Services were held June 2 at Calera Baptist Church, Hall Warren and Darryl Nichols presiding. Burial was in Shelby Memory Gardens, Rockco Funeral Home directing.
Memorials may be made to the Children's Music Department at Calera Baptist Church or the church's building fund.
WALTER LLOYD CARDEN
World War II veteran
Walter Lloyd Carden, 79, of Calera, died May 27, 2000. A member of North Side Baptist Church, he was a homebuilder for Carden and Coshatt for 40 years. He was also a veteran of World War II, where he served in the European theater and was part on the invasion of France. He served with the Fifth Division of the Big Red Diamond in the landing on Omaha Beach.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Carden of Calera; a daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia Blankenship and Robert, of Calera; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike Carden and Kathryn, of Alabaster; five grandchildren, Kerry and wife Leslie Blankenship, Lucas Blankenship, Kenneth Carden, Michelle Baird and Aaron Baird; and one great-grandchild, Jacob Blankenship.
Services were held May 31 at Rockco Funeral Home, Rev. Mark Sickmiller and Rev. Shelton Reeves officiating. Burial was in Enon Cemetery, Rockco Funeral Home directing.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the building fund of North Side Baptist Church in Calera, P.O. Box 1802, Calera, AL 35040.
WILLIE MAE HARRIS COLLINS

Willie Mae Harris Collins, 76, of Birmingham, died May 27, 2000. She was a native of Marengo County, was a retired cook with the Homewood Board of Education and was a member of the Gilfield Baptist Church in Demopolis.
She is survived by her children, John Collins, Ronald Collins, Dennis Stoudmire, Michael Collins, Bessie Ball, Sadra Dudley and Denise Stoudmire; sisters, Bessie Lee Walker and Evelyn McCall; 24 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held June 2 at Mounty Calvary Baptist Church, Pastor Raymond Whitsey officiating. Burial was in Zion Memorial Gardens, Westside Funeral Home Calera directing.

Vera B. Craft, 88, of Columbiana, died June 3, 2000.
She is survived by her sister, Doris Keown of Anniston.
Services were held June 5 at Bolton Brown Chapel, with graveside service at Edgemont Cemetery
in Anniston, Rev. Mike Miller officiating. Bolton Brown Service directed.
ARREALIA KIRKLAND DAVIS

Arrealia Kirkland Davis, 95, of Alabaster, died May 28, 2000. She was a lifelong resident of Shelby County and a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Alabaster.
She is survived by her son, Herman DeMoss; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held June 3 at the church, Pastor Van C. Houser officiating. Burial was in the Liberty Cemetery, Westside Funeral Home Calera directing.
