Larry Johnson Sr., 49, of Calera, died March 23, 2000. He was a lifelong resident of Shelby County. He was a truck driver for Alabama Dynamic Corporation.
He attended Prentice High School in Montevallo and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Calera, where he served on the Deacon Board, was superintendant of Sunday school and sang in the choir.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha Johnson; children, David Johnson, Ophelia Anderson and Rosanna Johnson; his mother, Irene Gilliland; a grandmother, Nellie Johnson; brothers and sisters, Talmadge Merritte, O.C. Johnson, Shelton Johnson, Rafe Johnson, Tim Johnson, Carrie Jackson, Vera Sue Baker, Vanessa Parks, Addie Gilliland, Alma Jordan Margaret Gilliland; and three grandchildren.
Services were held March 29 at the church, Pastor Rogers Shack officiating.
Burial was in the Shelby Memory Gardens, Westside Funeral Home directing.

WILLIAM VANCE MCDONOUGH
Retired from Homewood Fire Department
William Vance McDonough, 90, of Homewood, died March 24, 2000. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for 54 years and was retired from the Homewood Fire Department after 32 years of service. He was a member of Masonic West Jefferson Lodge No. 670.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethyl Glaze McDonough.
He is survived by his daughter, Kathryn Anne Browdy and husband, Charles, of Gulf Shores; a sister, Mildred Thompson of Fultondale; a sister-in-lawe, Carolyn McDough of San Antonio, Texas; brothers, Bill McDonough and wife, Eula, of Sylvan Springs, Bobby McDonough and wife, Irene, of Sylvan Springs and George McDonough and wife, Helen, of Montevallo; grandchildren, Cindi and Greg Warner of McDonough, Ga., Leslie and Dan Bertolini of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Charlotte and Cliff Lindsey of Marietta, Ga. and Billy Browdy of Auburn; and three great-grandchildren, Christina Warner, Katlyn Lindsey and Sophia Bertolini.
Services were held March 27 at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel, Dr. Steve Parson, grand-nephew of Mr. McDonough, officiating.
Burial was in Macedonia Cemetery, Rockco Funeral Home directing the services.

Kelly E. Roper, 41, of Wilsonville, died March 23, 2000.
She is survived by two sons, Jeff Roper of Columbiana and Adam Roper of Wilsonville; father, Samuel Ramsey of Wilsonville; two sisters, Lisa Morris of Columbiana and Shelley Ramsey of Wilsonville; and two brothers, Kevin Ramsey of Columbiana and Brad Ramsey of Wilsonville.
Graveside services were held March 26 at Ramsey Cemetery, Bolton Brown Service directing.

Wayne E. Roper, 46, of Wilsonville, died March 23, 2000.
He is survived by two sons, Jeff Roper of Columbiana and Adam Roper of Wilsonville; and two sisters, Judy Daniel of Columbiana and Johnnie Mae Baines of Adger.
Graveside services were held March 26 at Ramsey Cemetery, Bolton Brown Service directing.
LAWRENCE "LARRY" SEALE
Former Siluria resident
Lawrence "Larry" Seale, 70, of Columbia City, Indiana, died March 18, 2000. He was born in Siluria and spent the last nine years of his life in Columbia City, Ind. He was with the Helena Police Department from 1973-1974 and was a veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Seale of Columbia City, Ind.; sons, Larry Seale and Kerry Seale of Demopolis; a daughter, Cheryl Bates of Guin; children's mother, Iona Seale Evett of Scottsboro; brothers, Raymond Seale and Douglas Seale, both of Calera; sisters, Esther Arais of Los Angeles, Ca., Rebecca Barriner of Branson, Mo., Doris Kendrick of Crystal Lake, Ill., Quejett McCormick of Columbus, Ga., Linda Scurlock of Helena, Gloria Johnson and Joyce Marie Smith, both of Jemison; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service was held at Elliottsville Church on March 21. Burial was in adjoining cemetery.
WILLIE L. SCOTT SR.
Veteran of World War Ii
Willie L. Scott Sr., of Bessemer, died March 18, 2000.
A former Bessemer resident, he was retired from Bristol Steel Manifacturing and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, where he served on the Deacon's Board. He is survived by his wife, Lillian Davis Scott; children, Anthony Dixon, Jackie Dixon, Michael Dixon, Jimmy Robinson, Willie L. Scott Jr., Annie Lee Smith and Gayle Draper; brothers and sisters, Earnest Scott, Robert Scott, Johnny Green, Tommy Williams, Samuel Scott, Curtis Scott, Mary Jordan, Jo Ella Robinson and Yonnie Teacher; 23 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held March 25 at Shiloh Baptist Church, Rev. Calvin Moore Sr. officiating.
Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery, Westside Funeral Home directing the services.
TONI EARL BAKER
U.S. Marine Corp. veteran
Toni Earl Baker, 44, of Calera, died Feb. 26, 2000.
A life-long resident of Shelby County, he was a graduate of Calera High School and employed with A.B.C. Rail NACO Corporation in Calera and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
He is survived by his children, Timothy Baker and Wahnita Baker; mother, Homer Lee Baker; sisters and brothers, Bernice Mims, Nellie Lee, Jerri Spearman, Hommie Lee, Sammie Baker, Molly Baker, Betty Watson, Connie Baker and Mary Allen.
Services were held March 3 at Westside Funeral Chapel, Bro. Thomas Brooks officiating. Burial was in Second Baptist Church Cemetery, Westside Funeral Home directing.
JOEL ELWYN "NED" BEARDEN
Dairy farmer
Joel Elwyn "Ned" Bearden, 90, of Helena, died March 5, 2000. He was a dairy farmer for more than 70 years and was an elder at Riverchase Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Bearden; a son, John L. Bearden Sr. and a son-in-law, Tyrone Perkins.
He is survived by his sons, Joel E. Bearden Jr. and wife, Peggy, of Helena; and Ralph W. Bearden and wife, Monta Faye, of Vincent; daughters, Kathleen Perkins, Frances Lewis and husband, Eddy, and Shirley Genry and husband, Don, all of Helena; sisters, Irene Stephenson of Gardendale, Inez Gorman of Pell city, Mary Frances Bearden and Alberta Wooten of Hoover; brothers, J.B. Bearden of Hoover, Herbert Bearden of Ashville and Wade Bearden of Rainbow City; 20 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Services were held March 7 at Riverchase Church of Christ. Burial was in Jefferson Memorial Cemetery, Jefferson Memorial directing.

Georgie Ellen Caddell, 93, of Vincent, died March 2, 2000. She was a life-long resident of Vincent and was a member of Beulah Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Caddell and her son, Bennie Caddell.
She is survived by her daughter, Jeanette Raley and husband, Edward of Vincent; a son, Rudy Caddell and wife, Alta, of Vincent; daughter-in-law, Lillie Caddell of Vincent; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held March 5 at Kilgroe Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Nancy Cole officiating. Burial was in Beulah Baptist Cemetery, Kilgroe Funeral Home directing.

Catherine Marie Cochran, 60, of Calera, died March 1, 2000. She worked for ESP in Montevallo.
She is survived by her son, James Lewis McCormick of Montevallo; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
