Mildred Louise Hammett, 80, of Montevallo, died March 12, 2000. She was a member of South Calera Church of God.

She is survived by a daughter, Linda Cole of Montevallo; two sisters, Alta Mae Vining of Montevallo and Jo Ina Alexander of Montevallo; a brother, Bill Huckabee of Maylene; two grandchildren, Stephanie and Christina; one great-grandchild, Alexandrea; several nieces and nephews; and a special niece, Cheri Cobb.

Services were held March 15, Terry Williams and James Robinson presiding.

Burial was in Shelby Memory Gardens in Calera, Rockco Funeral Home directing.

NORENE GUNTER HOYLE

Member of First Baptist Church of Vincent

Norene Gunter Hoyle, 88, of Vincent, died March 17, 2000. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Vincent.

She is survived by three sons, Joseph Hoyle and Bobby Hoyle of Vincent and Eddie Hoyle of Lockheart; a daughter-in-law, Lane Dutton of Prestonburg, Ky.; a sister, Mary Hartley of Pell City; two brothers, Turner Gunter of Anniston and Sam Gunter of Pell City; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held March 19 at First Baptist Church of Vincent, Rev. Lon Cullen officiating. Burial was in Vincent City Cemetery, Kilgroe Funeral Home directing.

BRITTON LAWLER

Retired police officer

Britton Lawler, 72, of Columbiana, died March 12, 2000. A former Chicago resident, he was retired from the Chicago Police force after 33 years of service. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Police and the Illinois Police Association.

He is survived by his wife, Ivy Elizabeth Britton; children, James Alan Williams and Regina Walker; sister, Rachel Burnett; and four grandchildren.

Services were held March 17 at Westside Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Larry Truss officiating. Burial was in Columbiana City Cemetery, Westside Funeral Home directing.

WILLIE MAE SPRUELL LOVETT

Member of Inglenook Baptist Church

Willie Mae Spruell Lovett, 97, of Birmingham, died March 15, 2000.

A member of Inglenook Baptist Church, she was a member of the Grand International Auxiliary to the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and the No. 104 Boyles Chapter of the Order of the Easter Star. She was active for many years with the Women's Missionary Union.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Lovett, and his daughter, Virginia Lovett Cooper.

She is survived by her son, Thomas Lovett and wife, Doris, of Birmingham; a daughter, Doris Lovett Maddox of Winder, Ga.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held March 11 at Old Shelby Cemetery, Rev. Wayne Campbell officiating. Ridout's Roebuck Chapel directed the services.

PAULINE ROBERTS

Retired beautician

Pauline Roberts, 89, of Harpersville, died March 19, 2000. She was a retired beautician.

She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held March 21 at Wilsonville Cemetery, Rev. John Curtain officiating.

Bolton-Brown Service directed the services.

TOMMY W. BLANKENSHIP

Alabaster resident

Tommy W. Blankenship, 48, of Alabaster, died March 21, 2000. He was a member of Camp Branch United Methodist Church and a quarry foreman for Cheney Lime Company.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Blankenship of Alabaster; daughters, Jennifer Blankenship of Helena and Allison Blankenship of Alabaster; his parents, Floyd and Imogene Blankenship; brothers, Gary, Stanley and Randy Blankenship, all of Alabaster; and a sister, Tanya Gunter of Florence.

Services were held March 23 at Camp Branch United Methodist Church, Rev. Jerry Taylor and Rev. Tom Parrish officiating.

Burial was in Nabors Cemetery, Bolton-Brown Service directing the services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Thompson High School Varsity Girls Softball Team or the UAB Cancer Center.

THOMAS DAVID CARDIN

Columbiana resident

Thomas David Cardin, 38, of Columbiana, died March 26, 2000.

He is survived by his parents, Tom and Chestine Cardin of Columbiana; a sister, Chris Cardin Brasher and husband, David; a nephew, Samuel Brasher, all of Vestavia Hills; and a grandmother, Eula Cardin of Columbiana.

Services were held March 28 at Bolton Brown Chapel, Rev. Howard Brasher officiating. Burial was in Shelby Cemetery, Bolton Brown Service directing.

JANNIE MORRIS COTTON

Former Montevallo resident

Jannie Morris Cotton, 56, formerly of Montevallo died March 19, 2000, at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Chicago, Ill.

She is survived by six children, Darnell, Sherri, Carolyn, Benjala, Benjamin and Jennifer; her mother, Lila Morris of Montevallo; and a host of other relatives.

Services were held March 25 at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Montevallo, Rev. Harry Jones officiating. Burial was in Montevallo City Cemetery, Good Shepherd Funeral Home directing.

DIXIE ANN HALL

Homemaker

Dixie Ann Hall, 99, of Montevallo, died March 22, 2000. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her daughter, Nan Coshatt of Calera; sons, Robert Hall and wife, Judy, of Jemison; Ben Hall and wife, Gracie, of Montevallo; Jack Hall and wife, Betty, of Montevallo; and Terrell Hall and wife, Jerri, of Montevallo; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

Services were held March 24 at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Rick Evans and Rev. Ed Ables officiating. Burial was in Enon Cemetery, Rockco Funeral Home directing.

SARAH HAYNES HUGHES

Columbiana resident

Sarah Haynes Hughes, 69, of Columbiana, died March 26, 2000.

She is survived by her husband, Robert C. Hughes of Columbiana; a daughter, Sherri Griswold of Huntsville; a grandson, Fred Self II of Fourmile; five sisters, Mae Richardson of Goodwater, Hilda Gardner and Martha McDaniel, both of Sylacauga, Alberta Huston of Opelika and Shelia Stephens of Piedmont; and four brothers, John Haynes Jr., Francis Haynes and Clanton Haynes, all of Alexander City, and Clinton Haynes of Sylacauga.

Services were held March 28 at Columbiana First Baptist Church, Rev. Charles Stroud officiating. Burial was in Pinelawn Gardens, Bolton Brown Service directing.
