William M. Whitfield, 81, of Alabaster, died Feb. 11, 2000. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Whitfield; his children, Charles Whitfield and Ronnie Whitfield of Siluria, Russell Whitfield and Tommy Whitfield of Montgomery, Pat Overstreet and Mary Speer of Shelby and Wayne Whitfield of Maylene; a sister, Margie Smith; a brother, Edgar Whitfield; 36 grandchildren; and 50 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Feb. 14 at Concord Baptist Church, Rev. Darrell Nichols and Rev. Lee McBride officiating. Burial was in Shelby Memory Gardens, Bolton Brown Service directing the services.

Reginald Bice

Retired from Kimberly-Clark

Reginald Bice, 78, of Childersburg, died Feb. 17, 2000, at U.A.B. Hospital in Birmingham.

He was retired from Kimberly-Clark Corporation with 32 years of service and attended the First United Methodist Church of Childersburg.

Bice is survived by his wife, Eloise Bice of Childersburg; one daughter, Judy Bice Robinson and her husband, Harold, of Talladega; one brother, Clarence Bice of Motley; one sister, Christine McCrary of Sylacauga; two stepchildren, Mack Brown and his wife, Kathy, of Concord, and Shirley Brown of Birmingham; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Feb. 19 at the First United Methodist Church in Childersburg with the Rev. Mike Ratliff officiating.

Burial was in Greenhill Memorial Gardens, Curtis and Son Funeral Home, Childersburg Chapel directing.

OMA NOLEN BRUCE

Birmingham resident

Oma Nolen Bruce, 89, of Birmingham, died Feb. 20, 2000.

He is survived by a brother, Ralph Nolen of Wauchula, Fla.; a sister, Willodean Garmon of Anniston; four nephews; two nieces; four great-nephews; nine great-nieces; caregivers, Mae and Bill McDonald; and a niece, Olean Watson.

Services were held Feb. 22 at Bolton Brown Service in Columbiana. Burial was in Four Mile Cemetery, Bolton Brown Service directing.

BILLY JOE CAMERON

Inventor

Billy Joe Cameron, 64, of Pelham, died Feb. 17, 2000.

A self-employed electrical engineer, he also was an inventor. He was preceded in death by his father, William Oliver Cameron.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Cameron of Pelham; two daughters, Pamela Watkins of Birmingham and Honi Cameron of Pelham; a step-daughters, Denita Graves of Leeds; adopted daughter, Angela Cameron; sons, Tim Cameron of Vestavia and Cory Cameron of Bessemer; a step-son, Shaun Graves of Pelham; his mother, Willie Taylor Cameron; four grandchildren, Lori Atkins, Nicholas Taft, Melia Roberts and Matthew Cameron; three great-grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Feb. 21 at new Prospect Cemetery in Jasper, Rockco Funeral Home directing.

WESLEY RUDOLPH CATON

Inventor

Wesley Rudolph Caton, 77, of Pensacola, died Feb. 17, 2000.

He is survived by his sister, Frances Polk of Montevallo; and two brothers, Albert B. Caton of Mary Esther, Fla. and George Caton of Maylene.

Graveside services were held Feb. 19 at Providence Cemetery, Rev. Clyde Beam officiating. Rockco Funeral Home directed the services.

THELMA H. PRINCE

Member of Mt. Sharon Baptist Church

Thelma H. Prince, 74, of Childersburg, died Feb. 12, 2000, at Coosa Valley B.M.C. in Sylacauga.

She was a member of Mt. Sharon Baptist Church.

Prince is survived by her husband, Lewis D. Prince Sr. of Childersburg; two sons, Lewis D. Prince Jr. and his wife, Toni, and Ernest S. Prince II and his wife, Delana, all of Childersburg; one brother, Lonnie Hobbs of Birmingham; five sisters, Lois Harden of Plant City, Martha Joiner of Wilsonville, Virginia Tatum of Montgomery, Alantha Russ of Birmingham, and Hazel Ireland of Dothan; and three grandchildren, Luke, Josh and Olivia.

Graveside services were held Feb. 15 at Greenhill Cemetery with the Rev. Danny Bynum officiating. Radney-Smith Funeral Home Inc. in Sylacauga directed.

GARY LYNN PRUITT

Avondale Mills employee

Gary Lynn Pruitt, 55, of Alpine, died Feb. 16, 2000.

He was a maintenance employee for Avondale Mills.

Pruitt is survived by three sons, Steve Pruitt and his wife, Angie, of Pelham, Keith Pruitt and Adam Pruitt, both of Sycamore; one step-son, Barry Wynn of Childersburg; one daughter, Tammy Walker of Alpine; his father and mother, Arthur and Mavis Pruitt of Oakdale, three brothers, Mack Pruitt, Rob Pruitt and Jerry Pruitt, all of Oakdale; and one sister, Barbara House of Oakdale; and four grandchildren, Brittany Walker, Christian Pruitt, Amber Wynn and Matthew Wynn.

Graveside services were held Feb. 18 at Greenhill Cemetery with the Rev. Stanley Threatt officiating. Radney-Smith Funeral Home Inc. in Sylacauga directed.

JUDITH CAROLYN ROBERTSON

Member of Eden Westside Baptist Church

Judith Carolyn Robertson, 63, of Pell City, died Feb. 17, 2000.

She was a member of Eden Westside Baptist Church and a 1956 graduate of Pell City High School.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Robertson; six daughters, Pam McDaniel of Columbiana, Debra Whitehead of Moody, Wanda Sims of Pell City, Darlene Austin of Muscle Shoals, Kelly Goggan of Jasper and Katherine Warren of Pell City; a brother, Richard Blankenship; a mother, Mary Alice Blankenship; and 18 grandchildren.

Services were held Feb. 19 at Eden Westside Baptist, Rev. Jacky Connell and Rev. Herman Pair officiating. Burial was in Eden New Hope Cemetery, Kilgroe Funeral Home directing.

JAMES ALEXANDER WYATT

World War II veteran

James Alexander Wyatt of Clanton died Jan. 28, 2000 in Springhill, Fla.

A graduate of Montevallo High School, he attended Auburn University and was a fighter pilot in the U.S. Eighth Air Force during World War II. He was a recipient of a Purple Heart, Air Medal with six Oak Leaf clusters and the Distinguished Flying Cross.

He began a long career in the printing industry at Times Printing Co. in Montevallo and held management positions with firms in Alabama, Ohio and Florida.,

He was the son of W.M. Wyatt, former mayor of Montevallo, and editor of the Shelby County Times Herald, which was sold to the Shelby County Reporter in 1959.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Ford Wyatt; sons James A. Wyatt, Jr. and wife Pegi, of Birmingham, Gordon F. Wyatt and wife Sandra, of Marietta, Ga., William P. Wyatt and wife Jennifer, of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren Alex Wyatt and wife Megan of Montgomery, MacDaniel Wyatt of Montevallo, Virginia Wyatt of Auburn, Katherine Wyatt of Valdosta, Ga., Andrew Wyatt, of Marietta, Ga., Perry Wyatt and Trey Wyatt of Columbus Ohio; great-grandchild, Riordan Wyatt of Montgomery; sister Theda Wyatt Nordan Dunham of Birmingham. A memorial service was held at the Montevallo Presbyterian Church on Saturday, Feb. 5th with interment in Montevallo Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be made in his name to the charity of your choice.

MARTHA ANN DUBOSE BASKIN

Member of Grant Chapel C.M.E. Church

Martha Ann Dubose Baskin, 71, of Cuba, Ala., died Jan. 24, 2000. A life-long resident of Sumter County, she was a member of Grants Chapel C.M.E. Church Cuba, where she served on the Usher's Board.

She is survived by her husband, M.C. Baskin; children, James Baskin, Ernest Baskin, Bessie Mae Barber, Ella Mae Williams, Mary Lue Baskin, Evelyn Baskin and Stella Baskin; sisters, Eloise Wilson and Louise Noles; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held Jan. 29 at Grant Chapel C.M.E. Church, Rev. Winston Williams and Rev. Charles Henry DeLaine officiating. Burial was in Cagus Cemetery. Westside Funeral Home directing.
