Adrian Eugene Benton, 74, of Maylene, died Jan. 2, 2000.

He is survived by his wife, Margie Boothe Benton of Maylene; three daughters, Charlotte Dobbs of Maylene, Shelia Owens of Vincent and Barbara Campbell of Maylene; two sons, Kelvin Benton of Dogwood and Phillip Benton of Maylene; a sister, Emma Lou Boothe of Calera; two brothers, Douglas Benton of Pell City and James Benton of Riverton, Utah; seven grandchildren; one step-grandson; and one step-great-granddaughter.

Services were held Jan. 5 at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel, Rodney Breakfield and Paul Lett presiding. Burial was in Ryan's Cemetery, Rockco Funeral Home directing.

ROGER DALE JONES

Shelby resident

Roger Dale Jones, 51, of Shelby, died Dec. 27, 1999.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Jones of Montevallo; a daughter, Susan Jones of Clanton; two sons, Anthony Jones of Birmingham and Dwayne Jones of Shelby; a sister, Wanda McKinnon of Wilsonville; brothers, Ray Jones of Harpersville and Ronald Jones of Shelby.

Services were held Dec. 30 at Bolton Brown Chapel, Rev. Jimmy Earnest officiating. Burial was in Bay Springs Cemetery, Bolton Brown Service directing.

GLORIA JEAN KNOPP

Pell City resident

Gloria Jean Knopp, 54, of Pell City, died Dec. 28, 1999.

She is survived by three daughters, Deborah VanRiper, Melantha Sprayberry and Samantha Dunn; a son, Anthony Barber; two brothers, Stanley Northcutt and Roland Northcutt; a sister, Robbie George; and six grandchildren. Services were held Dec. 30 at Kilgroe Chapel. Burial was in Vincent City Cemetery, Kilgroe Funeral Home directing.

TOMMIE A. MARTIN

Calera resident

Tommie A. Martin, 75, of Calera died Dec. 28, 1999. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Calera.

She is survived by her husband, Arcie V. Martin of Calera; daughter, Sandra M. Martin of Clanton, son, Dr. Richard M. Martin of Augusta, Ga.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Roy of Calera and Dot Massengale of Greensboro; brothers, Samuel Tomlin of Alexandria, Va., Judson Tomlin of Mobile and Hugh Tomlin of Tallassee.

Services were held Dec. 29 at First United Methodist Church of Calera, Rev. Terry Hill and Rev. Marvin Edmondson officiating. Burial was in Salem Cemetery, Bolton Brown Service directing.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to First United Methodist Church, Calera, van fund.

HERMAN BROWN PETERS JR.

World War II veteran

Herman Brown Peters Jr., 86, of Montevallo, died Jan. 2, 2000, in Alabaster. He was a member of A.E.A. Shelby County Retired Teachers. He served as a medic in World War II.

He was a member of Mason Lodge No. 70 in Montevallo and a member of Montevallo United Methodist Church. He graduated from Montevallo High School and was a graduate of Alabama College.

He is survived by a daughter, Susan Peters Phillips of Alabaster; a son, Herman Brown Peters III of Montevallo; a sister, Elinor Peters-Woolley of Alabaster; and a brother, Willard Z. Peters of Hueytown.

Services were held Jan. 4 at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel, Clay Wortham officiating.

Burial was in Shelby Memory Gardens, Rockco Funeral Home directing.

KENNETH HAROLD RING

Montevallo resident

Kenneth Harold Ring, 69, of Montevallo, died Dec. 29, 1999, in Alabaster. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Latham Ring of Montevallo; three daughters, Mary Dupree of Dallas, Texas, Janet McCroy and Elaine Holt of Dallas, Texas; three stepdaughters, Sheila Birk of Alabaster, Linda Hubbard of Colorado City, Texas and Janice Wooten of Montevallo; a son, Bill Ring of Dallas, Texas; three stepsons, George Wooten of Goodwater, Butch Wooten of Montgomery and Bo Wooten of Centreville; two sisters, Sue Bains of Dallas, Texas, and Helen Womack of Dallas Texas; and numerous grandchildren. Services were held Dec. 31 at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel, Danny Lucas presiding. Burial was in Shelby Memory Gardens, Rockco Funeral Home directing.

WILLIAM "TOMMY" ROBERTS SR.

Wilsonville resident

William "Tommy" Roberts Sr., 52, of Wilsonville, died Jan. 1, 2000.

He is survived by his wife, Earlyne Roberts of Wilsonville; daughters, April Padgett and husband, John, Angela Shifflet and husband, Rodney, both of Columbiana; sons, William "Tommy" Roberts Jr. and wife, Carrie, of Moody, Marshall "Wayne" Roberts and wife, Dana, of Leeds; nine grandchildren; brothers, Lamar Roberts of Centerpoint, Jim Roberts of Columbiana and Bob Roberts of Birmingham; and a sister, Ann Sloan of Irondale. Services were held Jan. 4 at Bolton Brown Chapel. Burial was in Columbiana City Cemetery, Bolton Brown Service directing.

THOMAS W. SNYDER

Harpersville resident

Thomas W. Snyder, 87, of Harpersville, died Dec. 30, 1999.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Snyder of Harpersville; a son, Jerry Snyder of Harpersville; three daughters, Nettie Lou Gates of Montgomery, Diane Wortham of Harpersville and Tommy L. Bowers of Harpersville; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; a brother, John Snyder of Birmingham; and one sister, Estelle Jones of Ft. Worth, Ky. Graveside services were held Jan. 2 at Harpersville City Cemetery, Bolton Brown Service directing. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Kidney Foundation.

JULIUS D. "BUDDY" WYATT JR.

Pelham resident

Julius D. "Buddy" Wyatt, 54, of Pelham, died Dec. 27, 1999. He was executive vice president and chief financial officer of First National Bank of Shelby County, Inverness Branch. He was preceded in death by his father, Nathan (Jack) Wyatt; his mother, Eunice Hale; and a sister, Mattie Lou Day. He is survived by his daughter, Christina Wyatt Miskelley and husband, Shane Miskelley of Columbiana; and a sister, Jan Gravelle of Calera. Graveside services were held Dec. 29 at Nabors Cemetery, Bolton Brown Service directing. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to First National Bank of Shelby County in memory of Buddy Wyatt, scholarship fund.

JOHN Washington

Retired Army veteran

John Washington, 67, of Jemison, died Jan. 2, 2000. He was a retired Army veteran who gave 21 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Vicky Washington; three daughters, Therese Washington of Pelham, Janet Barfield of Tampa, Fla., and Pam Rigsby of Jemison; step-children, Cheryl "Smith" edwards of Jemison, Russell Smith of Albany, Ky., and Stacy Scroggins of Jamestown, Tenn.; grandchildren, Mark Dennis, Debra Knight, Terry Rigsby and Kathi Brockhahn; great-grandchildren, Christian Dennis, Austin Knight, Joseph Edwards, Tyler Scroggins and Simmon Scroggins; four brothers; and five sisters.

Services were held Jan. 5 at the Bread of Life Baptist Church in Calera, Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing.

JAMES LEONARD ALEXANDER

Veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict

James Leonard Alexander, 82, of Montevallo, died Feb. 13, 2000. A former member of Calvary Baptist Temple in Alabaster, he was an Air Force veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Evelyn Milstead Alexander; two daughters, Terry Dunn of Calera and Debra Baker of Clanton; two sons, James Darryl Alexander of Montevallo and Keith Alexander of Brentwood, Tenn.; a sister, Kathleen Bridges of Montevallo; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Services were held Feb. 16 at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Robert Ethridge officiating. Burial was in Salem Cemetery, Rockco Funeral Home directing.

STACY GENE ALLEN

Veteran of the U.S. Air Force

Stacy Gene Allen, 41, of Montevallo, died Feb. 9, 2000. A native of Bibb County, he was employed with Seaman Timber Co. and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was also a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Michelle Stacey; children, Terrontie Sullens and Jessica Sullens; father, Will Stacey Sr.; brothers, J.D. Williams, Will Stacey Jr., Ulysses J. Mitchell, Michael Herd and Leroy Herd; sisters, Lula Stacy, Mary Moore and Sarah Mae Martin.

Services were held Feb. 13 at Shiloh Baptist Church, Rev. Rogers Lee White officiating. Burial was in Cooper Cemetery in Centreville, Westside Funeral Home directing.
