John Robert Barrow
John Robert Barrow, 72, of Montevallo, died Aug. 25, 1998. He was an electrician and a retired miner.
He is survived by his wife, Gena Barrow of Montevallo; a daughter, Linda Fant of Montevallo; three sons, John Barrow Jr. of North Port, Billy Barrow of Tuscaloosa and Jeff Barrow of Montevallo; a sister, Lelia Bates of Panama City, Fla.; two brothers, W.B. Barrow of Birmingham and Paul Barrow of Randolph; and six grandchildren, Craig Fant, Crissa Barrow, Jay Barrow, Joshua Barrow, Marissa Barrow and Blake Barrow.
Services were held Aug. 27 at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Bob Hope and Rev. Tom Hammett officiating.
Burial was in Antioch Cemetery, Rockco Funeral Home directing.
PAUL WILLIAM FRANKLIN
Machine operator for Dravo Lime
Paul William Franklin, 30, of Jemison, died Aug. 23, 1998 at his home. He was a machinist with Dravo Lime.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Franklin of Columbiana; a step-daughter, Mary Helen Jones; his mother, Linda Campbell of Jemison; step-father, Gary Campbell of Jemison; two sisters, Julie and Brandy Campbell of Jemison; a brother, David Franklin of Jemison; a nephew, Chris Campbell of Jemison; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Services were held Aug. 27 at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel in Montevallo, Rev. Tom Laile officiating.
Burial was in Rocky Mount Cemetery
in Jemison, Rockco Funeral Home directing.
ERA CAMPBELL FREE
Sylacauga resident
Era Campbell Free, 74, of Sylacauga, died Aug. 16, 1998, at Medical Center East in Birmingham.
She is survived by one daughter, Wilhelmena Free of Birmingham; two sisters, Maudie Green of Jemison, and Jennye Ansley of Lincoln; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Aug. 18 at Evergreen Cemetery
with the Rev. Horace Grizzell officiating, Radney-Smith Funeral Home Inc. in Sylacauga directing.
EDWARD GLASS
Retired appliance salesman
Edward Glass, 87, of Bastrip, La., died Aug. 24, 1998. A former Shelby County resident, he was one of Calera's barber shop owners in 1938-40 then worked as a machinist for the Federal Government in Birmingham.
He worked in the woodworking business from late 1948 to mid '50's and then retired as an appliance repairman.
He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including Alton Glass and Earnest Glass of Calera.
Graveside services were held at Price Church Cemetery
in Bastrip, La., Goldens Funeral Home directing.
CLEBURN G. "PETE" JEMISON
Sterrett resident
Cleburn G. "Pete" Jemison, 69, of Sterrett, died Aug. 28, 1998 at Baptist Medical Center Montclair.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Jemison of Sterrett; three sons, Gerland D. Jemison and wife Rita of Sterrett; Cleburn Gary Jemison and wife Cathy of Sterrett; and Thomas Glenn Jemison and wife, Bambi of Moody; two brothers, Harold Jemison and Wayne Jemison, both of Vincent; two sisters, Jessie Mae King and Edna Oaks of Vincent; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held Aug. 29 at Kilgroe Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Eugene King and Rev. B.E. King officiating. Burial was in Lawleys Chapel, Kilgroe Funeral Home directing.
JOHN PAUL JUZAN
Retired machine operator
John Paul Juzan, 80, of Sylacauga died Aug. 24, 1998, at Coosa Valley Baptist Medical Center in Sylacauga.
He was a retired machine operator at Gantts Marble Quarry.
Juzan is survived by four sisters, Natie Juzan and Mildred Pettus, both of Sylacauga, Vonzelle Moore of Columbiana, and Bell Marie Carden of Birmingham.
Funeral services were held Aug. 26 at Curtis and Son Funeral Home, South Chapel in Sylacauga with the Rev. Donald Grice officiating.
Burial was in Summer Hill Cemetery
in Columbiana, Curtis and Son Funeral Home, South Chapel directing.
CHARLES CURTIS McCARTNEY

Charles Curtis McCartney, 46, of Calera, died Aug. 30, 1998.
He is survived by parents, Betty Smith and Charles and Kathleen McCartney, all of Calera; a son, Corry McCartney of Montevallo; sister, Sharon Patterson of Calera; brothers, John Wesley McCartney of Calera, Graig Pearson of Calera and Gary Smith of Montevallo; aunts, Dorothy Pate, Icice Seale, June Crowe and Joanne Shinabeck; uncle, Roy Cannady and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were held Aug. 30 at Charter Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Mark Sickmiller officiating. Burial was in Shelby Memory Gardens in Calera, Chater Funeral Home directing.
RUBY CATHERINE MONTGOMERY
Member of First Baptist Church of Vincent
Ruby Catherine Montgomery, 90, of Vincent, died Aug. 29, 1998. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Vincent.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Renfore Montgomery and a son, Joe Montgomery.
She is survived by a son, Charles Montgomery; daughter, Katherine Justice of Vincent; daughter-in-law, Jeanette Montgomery of Center Point; a sister, Fannie Shoope of Center Point; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held Aug. 31 at the First Baptist Church of Vincent. Burial was in Vincent City Cemetery, Bolton-Brown Service directing.
