NELLIE SMITH ROLAND
TALLADEGA Memorial service for Nellie Smith Roland, 89, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Ridouts Gardendale Chapel, with the Rev. Randy Hagan officiating. Burial will follow in Walker's Chapel Cemetery
in Fultondale.
Mrs. Roland went to be with the Lord on Aug. 4, 2002. She was a member of Hepzibah Baptist Church, and members of Grace Church, Tuscaloosa, also claimed her as an associate member. Her life, Christian walk and sweet spirit were an inspiration to her family and all who knew her. She was always "drinking from the well" of God's love and provision.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James P.B. Roland, who passed away on their 52nd wedding anniversary, July 11, 1988. Born on Pine Mountain in Blount County, to George and Della Smith, she was the sole survivor of her parents and six brothers and sisters. A graduate of Glencoe High School in Gadsden, she graduated from Birmingham Nursing School in January 1937, six months after she and her husband had secretly married. She retired in 1975, after almost 40 years of nursing, which included office, industrial, private and general hospital duty.
She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Ferguson and husband Mack of Talladega and Jimmie Nell Painter and husband Dennis of Northport; three grandsons, Milton Ferguson Jr. and wife Mickey, James Ferguson and wife Corky, and Dennis Painter; three granddaughters, Cynthia Ferguson Torbett and husband Rick, Ginger Ferguson Windham and husband Steve, and Jennifer Painter English and husband Bert; 10 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the building fund at Hepzibah Baptist Church, 5329 Renfroe Road, Talladega, Al., 35160.
Ridout's Gardendale Chapel will direct the service.
MARVIN BUNT
RAGLAND Funeral service for Marvin Bunt, 85, will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Pell City with the Rev. Edward Talley officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Bunt died Aug. 4 at Riverview Hospital in Gadsden. He was a native and lifelong resident of Ragland. He was retired from Ragland Brick Co. and had been president of the 571 Local Union Brickyard for several years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ragland and a Baptist deacon for 60 years.
He is survived by his wife, Annie Mae Bunt of Ragland; daughters, Patsy Nichols of Piedmont, Faye Hawkins of Moody and Elsie Stephens of Huntsville; sisters, Opal Martin and Ida Bell Belcher or Birmingham; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Randy Hawkins, David Stephens, Jason Stephens, Terry Nichols, Kim Nichols and Roger Nichols.
Chapel Hill Funeral Home will direct the service.

ANNISTON James Dewhart, 70, of Anniston died Aug. 4 at Talladega Nursing Home.

JERRY ALBERT GREEN
SYLACAUGA Funeral service for Jerry Albert Turnip Green Green, 59, was Monday at Curtis and Son North Chapel with Mike Kiser officiating. Burial was in the Hollins Cemetery.
Mr. Green died Aug. 3 at Coosa valley BMC.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Green of Sylacauga; a son, Jerek Alen Green of Sylacauga; a stepson, Bruce Anthony Jones of Sylacauga; a stepdaughter, Jennifer Hammonds of Sylacauga; a brother, George Randall Green and wife Diane of Atlanta; two sisters, Linda Joyce Wilson and husband Dexter of Stewartville and Dorothy Breitenbucher and husband Wayne of Panama City; one grandson, one great-grandson, and two stepgrandchildren.
Pallbearers were John Kelley, Virgil Hammonds, Bruce Jones, Ronnie Wilson, Jimmie Butler, and Bobby Whitley.
Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel directed the service.

OXFORD Funeral service for Marilyn Harrison Robertson, 68, will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Miller Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Robertson officiating. A private burial will follow.
Mrs. Robertson died Aug. 4 at Regional Medical Center in Anniston. She was a member of Trinity Methodist Church in Talladega, and was a graduate of Talladega High School. She was preceded in death by her parents, Burt and Grace Harrison; brother, Garland Flower Harrison; and sisters, Mary Dale Harrison and Ocell Lashley.
She is survived by her husband, Sidney Robertson of Oxford; two sons, Richard Robertson of Munford and Mike Robertson of Oxford; three sisters, Mildred Day of Talladega, Evelyn Boone of Milledgeville, Ga., and Nell Vincent of Talladega; and four grandchildren.
Miller Funeral Home will direct the service.

COLUMBUS, Ga. Memorial service for Donna L. Wright, 43, of Columbus, Ga., was Sunday at Trinity Episcopal Church with Father Tom Jones officiating.
Ms. Wright died Aug. 1 at Columbus Hospice House. A native of Talladega, she worked as a registered nurse, receptionist, volunteer for Contact Helpline, was a member of International Order of St. Luke the Physician, and a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.
She is survived by her mother, Martha Nix of Ragland; two brothers, Marty Wright of Ft. Lawn, S.C., and Randy Wright of Palm Bay, Calif.; and 11 nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, 1130 First Avenue, Columbus, Ga., 31909.
Striffler-Hamby Mortuary directed the service.

MABLETON, Ga. Funeral service for Faye Daily, 59, will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Curtis and Son Funeral Home North chapel. Burial will be in Hanover Cemetery.
Mrs. Daily died Sept. 23.
She is survived by her husband, Joel Daily of Mableton, Ga.; one son, Dennis Tinney of Lawrenceville, Ga.; one sister, Nell Bryant of Sylacauga; three brothers, Bobby Joe Tinney of Sylacauga, Billy Tinney of Buford, Ga., and Larry Tinney of Sylacauga; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

ALPINE Lee Washington Garrett, 63, of 681 Reynolds Mill Road, died Sept. 23.

RAGLAND Funeral service for Gordon L. Hannah, 72, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Pope's Chapel Methodist Church with the Rev. Mickey Jones officiating. Burial will be in Pope's Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Hannah died Sept. 24. He was a native of St. Clair County and lived in the Wattsville community. He was a retired inspector with the state of Alabama Highway Department with more than 39 years of service. He was a member of the Wattsville Fire Department for 22 years and was a member of Pope's Chapel Congregational Methodist Church, where he was active in the choir. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nettie Savage Hannah; and his parents, the Rev. A.C. and Dannie Bishop Hannah.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Hannah of Ragland; one daughter, Judy Braden of Riverside; three stepdaughters, Teresa Carol Burns, Wanda Faye Burke and Tonia Rae Black of Pell City; one son, Charles L. Hannah of Ragland; one stepson, Stoney Burke of Eden; one sister, Ruby Nell Bagwell of Ragland; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed at the church for one hour before the service.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 6 until 9 p.m.
Garland Davis Wattsville Fire Department will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Tarpley died Sept. 23. He was a former resident of Sylacauga. He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Robbie I. Tarpley; and five brothers and sisters.
He is survived by one son, Tony and wife Cathy S. Tarpley of Sylacauga; one daughter, Mrs. Libby T. and husband Audie Gregg Jr. of Montgomery; his grandchildren, Kellie Gregg of St. Louis, Mo., Ryan Tarpley and Todd Tarpley of Sylacauga; and several nieces and nephews.
