Carroll T. Tolar

Funeral services for Carroll T. Tolar, 75, of Eclectic, formerly of Atlanta, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church. The Rev. Will Parker will officiate. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, and at the church for one hour prior to services.
Mr. Tolar died Dec. 5, 2004. He was a retired senior vice president of engineering with Georgia Pacific. He was a veteran of the
Korean War, serving in the U.S. Navy, and was a graduate of Louisiana Tech. Before retiring to Alabama, he and his wife were members of Peachtree Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Tolar; one daughter, Nancy Tolar Webb of Marietta, Ga.; two sons, James Mark Tolar of Venice, Fla., and Kenneth Tolar of New Orleans, La., and seven grandchildren, Jay Webb, Travis Tolar, Jessica Webb, Shannon Tolar, Danielle Tolar, Christopher Webb and Erin Tolar.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Carroll T. Tolar Memorial Fund, Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church, 4385 Lower Roswell Road, S.E. Marietta, GA 30068.

Mary Jo Maxwell

Funeral services for Mary Jo Maxwell, 59, of Dadeville will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, at Sardis Baptist Church. The Rev. William Perry Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow at Dadeville City Cemetery.
Mrs. Maxwell died Dec. 4, 2004, at her residence. She was born July 9, 1945, to Joe and Ethel Jones. She worked at the Tallapoosa County Courthouse for 31 years and retired in February of 2004. She was a member of Sardis Baptist Church.
She is survived by three sons, Cecil Jones of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Edward Russaw of Dadeville and Robert Maxwell of Tuscaloosa; three daughters, Sharon Stone of Dadeville, Audrey Stone of Birmingham and Teresa Minnifield and husband Tracy of Calera and six grandchildren.

Funeral services for Bobby Joe Smith, 63, of Dadeville will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, at Bay Pine Baptist Church. The Rev. John Dye will officiate. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004.
Mr. Smith died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004. He was born Friday, Oct. 3, 1941.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Lou Smith of Dadeville; four sons, Bobby Joe Smith Jr. and wife Elicia of Segmund, Mo., Ricky Dale Smith and wife Christy, Christopher Early Smith and wife Teressa, all of Dadeville, and Craig Thomas Smith and wife Wanda of Lineville; one daughter, Kristy Lynn Ward of Dadeville and four grandchildren, Tabitha Erin Smith and Jacob Smith, both of Dadeville, and Joanathan Mullally and Ricky Mullally, both of Lineville.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Phyllis Tereasa Smith; one son-in-law, Marrell "Ducky" Ward; his mother, Willie Lee Jennings and his mother-in-law Minnie Lou Cotney.

A memorial service for Julia Ann Caldwell, 66, of Jackson's Gap was at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, at Sardis Methodist Church and the Rev. Bruce Willis officiated.
Mrs. Caldwell died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, in Russellville, Ark. She was born Jan. 13, 1938 in Tallassee to Fletcher and Leella Ponder. She attended Auburn University and worked as a librarian until her retirement. She was a member of Sardis Methodist Church.
She is survived by one son, Allen Caldwell and wife Kim of Monte Lake Terrace, Wash.; two daughters, Susan Peder and husband Alex of Kirkland, Wash., and Cate Baker and husband Scott of Rose Hill, Kan.; seven grandchildren, Sara Caldwell, Rory Caldwell, Nicholas Peder, Joey Peder, Molly Baker, Matthew Baker and Emma Baker and one brother, Joe Ponder and wife Adrianna of Jackson's Gap.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Walter Caldwell Sr. and one son, Donald Walter Caldwell Jr.

He is survived by his mother, Joan Cunningham; his father, Tard O. McKinney; one sister, Gwendolyn McKinney; one brother, David F. McKinney; and his grandmother, Virginia McKinney, all of Alexander City.

Funeral services for Leila D. Carter, 91, of Dadeville were at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005. The Rev. Mark Spraggins officiated. Burial followed at Dadeville City Cemetery. Visitation was from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005.
Mrs. Carter died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004. She was born Thursday, Feb. 13, 1913.
She is survived by two sons, Donald Denny of Snellville, Ga., and Gerald Carter of Dadeville; one daughter, Juanita Spraggins of Albany, Ga.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Opal Bobo, 95, of Snead, died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006, at her home.
Services were Friday, Sept. 22, at Snead Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. David Poole and Don Neal officiating.
Survivors include daughter, Jane (Henry) Whitley, of Snead; two grandsons and one great-grandson.

Anna Ruth “Sis” Griffin Hamrick, 79, of Crossville, died Friday, Sept. 29, 2006, at Marshall Medical Center South in Boaz.
A memorial service took place at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, with the Rev. Wayne Roden officiating. Burial was at Crossville Cemetery. Crossville Memorial Chapel was in charge.
Survivors include brothers, Donald Griffin, of Dawson, and Bobby Griffin, of Texas; and many neices and nephews.

He was retired from the Navy.
