Theresa Gail Cook
SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Theresa Gail Cook, 46, will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Doyal Cook officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Cook died Aug. 16 at her residence. She was a member of the Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, where she was also a choir member.
She is survived by two sons, Christopher Cook of Sylacauga and Jabari Cook of Pell City; six sisters, Latanya Cook of Childersburg, Loretta Cook of Birmingham, Valeria Cook of Detroit, Mich., Cassandra Williams of New York, N.Y., Shantika Cook of Cincinnati and Wykeelah Cook of Atlanta; nine brothers, the Rev. Chester Cook of Birmingham, Donald Cook and Warren Cook, both of Sylacauga, Jerry Cook of Birmingham, John L. Cook Jr. of Childersburg, Eric Cook of Newnan, Ga., Kelvin Cook of Cincinnati, Darrius Cook of Nashville, Tenn. and Derrick Thomas of Atlanta; four grandchildren and a special friend, Terrence Wilson of Sylacauga.
Brothers will serve as pallbearers. Flowerbearers will be Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church ushers.
There will be no viewing of the body at the church or at the funeral home.
Community Funeral Home will direct the service.
Lilas Lavonia Lister
PELL CITY — Funeral service for Lilas Lavonia Lister, 83, will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Chapel Hill Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Kenneth Bullard and the Rev. Jeff Huey officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Lister died Aug. 17. She was a native of Pell City and was employed by Avondale Mills for 38 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Lister; two sisters, Lula Bell Walker and Georgia Gossett; and her mother, Willie Angeline Adams.
She is survived by one daughter, Laquita Ferguson; four sons, Gordon E. Smith, Frank L. Smith, Roger Dale Smith and Reginald Smith; 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Clark Smith, Randall Stewart, Audie Stewart, Gary Smith, Douglas Smith and Roger Stewart.
Alternate pallbearers will be Franky Smith and Barry Dale Smith.
Chapel Hill Funeral Home will direct the service.
Artie Epperson
SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Artie Epperson, 88, will be Aug. 20 at 11 a. m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Keith Pugh officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Epperson died Aug. 18 at Sylacauga Health Care. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Sylacauga, where he served in many capacities including as a life-long deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was married for 61 years and was active in the Coosa Valley Shrine Club. He was a retired steam fitter for Kimberly-Clark Corporation.
Survivors include his wife, Doris H. Epperson of Sylacauga; a son, Jim Epperson of Pelham; a daughter, Janice Alberts of Bruce Crossing, Mich.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4 p m. until 6 p. m.
Pallbearers will be Shriners.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Glad Hand Sunday School Class and nurses from Sylacauga Health Care.
The family will accept flowers or contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital in care of John Camp.
Radney-Smith Funeral Home will direct the service.
Joseph Davis
CLEVELAND, Ohio — Joseph “Joe” Davis, 60, died Aug. 17 at Hillrun Road Hospital in Cleveland.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Community Funeral Home.
Edna L. Caballero
SYLACAUGA — Memorial service for Edna L. Caballero, 74, of Rockford, will be Sunday at 5:30 p.m. at Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Hanover with the Rev. Joe Camp officiating.
Mrs. Caballero died Aug. 17.
She is survived by two nieces, Carolyn Wilson of Hanover and Shirley Woods of Stewartville; and two nephews, Van Compton of Hanover and David Compton of Kermit, Texas.
Curtis and Son North Chapel will direct the service.
ROSCOE P. HALL
WILSONVILLE — Funeral service for Roscoe P. Hall, 82, was at 10 a.m. Saturday in the chapel at Curtis and Son Funeral Home of Childersburg, with the Rev. Dwain Harper, the Rev, Tommy Reaves and the Rev. Fred Kelley officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Home Baptist Church Cemetery
in Andalusia. A graveside service was held at 4 p.m.
Mr. Hall died Aug. 17 at his residence.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Hall of Wilsonville; a daughter, Lynn Hall Reed of Westover; a son, Mike Hall of Sylacauga; four sisters, Era Kelley and Mary Prestwood, both of Andalusia, Naomi Buskirk of Auburn and Louise Davis of Marion N.C.; four grandchildren, Will Reed of Westover, Kim Reed of Westover, Brian Hall of Sylacauga and Galen Hall of Sylacauga; and a great-grandchild, Michael Hall of Sylacauga.
Curtis and Son Funeral Home Childersburg Chapel directed the service.
SHIRLEY ANN PAYNE
CHILDERSBURG — Graveside service for Shirley Ann Payne, 59, will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Tallasshatchee Cemetery
with the Rev. Sonny Champion officiating.
Miss Payne died Aug. 17 at her residence. She was a native and life-long resident of Talladega County, a homemaker and a Baptist by faith. She was preceded in death by her father, Russell M. Payne and her mother, Sara Payne.
She is survived by five brothers, Joe R. Payne, Jimmy Payne, Bobby Payne and Phillip Wendell Payne, all of Childersburg, and Jack. L. Payne of Cedartown, Ga.
Pallbearers will be Chris McGrady, Willie Young, Dewayne Moxley, Randy Dobbs, Jeffrey Moxley and Joey Strickland.
Honorary pallbearer will be Mike Finn.
Midway Memory Gardens Funeral Home will direct the service.
KENNETH DURWOOD FULTON
TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Kenneth Durwood Fulton, 63, will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Midway Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. W. W. Broadus officiating. Burial will be in Midway Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Fulton died Aug. 17 at Clay County Hospital. He was a native and life long resident of Talladega and was a member of Bowden Grove Baptist Church in Ashland. He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Fulton.
He is survived by his mother, Hattie H. Fulton of Talladega; a daughter and son-in-law, Joe and Lee Ann Rainey of Highland Home; one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth E. and Penny Fulton of Talladega; one brother and sister-in-law, Clinton and Connie Fulton of Talladega; and six grandchildren, Robbie, Christina, Kimberly, Kyle, Jessie and Haley.
Pallbearers will be Fred Craft, Rodney Gunn, Walter Hamlin Jr., Dale Price, James Smith and Shannon Strickland.
Honorary pallbearers will be Marvin Brewer and Wayne Gardener.
