Graveside services for William Tell Mitchell, 86, of Smiths Station, formerly of Coosa County, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2003, at Peace & Goodwill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Mitchell died May 27, 2003, at VA Medical Center in Tuskegee. He was born Feb. 10, 1917, to Tommy and Bertha Mitchell.
He is survived by his wife, Inez Mitchell of Smiths Station; one son, William T. Mitchell Jr. of Los Angeles; three brothers; sisters-in-laws and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Jasper Richard McCollough Sr.

Funeral services for Jasper Richard McCollough Sr., 77, of Auburn will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at Radney Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Richard McCollough will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillview Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday, June 17, 2003.
Mr. McCollough died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery. He was born June 23, 1925, in Tallapoosa County to Lydle Jackson and Vicie Kitchens McCollough. He was the owner of Roto Rooter, a member of Abundant Life Church in Auburn and was a U.S. Navy veteran having served in World War II.
He is survived by his son, the Rev. Richard McCollough and wife Linda of Auburn; one daughter, Sherry Pecchioni and husband Robert of Birmingham; two grandsons, Barry McCollough and wife Sheila of Alexander City and Jeff Benson and wife Anna of Windsor, Canada; three granddaughters, Danielle Halcomb and husband Bobby of Rocky Face, Ga., Brandy Herron and husband Jeff of Opelika and Kristi Tanner and husband Andy of Montgomery and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Estelle Murchison Miller, 91, of Alexander City will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at Curtis and Son North Chapel. The Rev. Jerry Smith will officiate. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery. Visitation was from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2003.
Mrs. Miller died Monday, July 28, 2003, at Chapman Nursing Home. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Rockford for many years.
She is survived by nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Miller; one daughter, Patricia Miller and one son, Moye Miller.
Pallbearers were James White, Matthew White, John Henry Miller, Wayne Pate, Bryan Murchison and Steven Pate.

Funeral services for Francis Grady Vickers, 93, of Alexander City will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, at Heritage Chapel. The Rev. Bobby Meyers will officiate. Burial will follow at Fellowship Cemetery. Visitation was from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003.
Mr. Vickers died Aug. 4, 2003, at Chapman Healthcare. He was born Oct. 18, 1909, in Clay County to William Jackson and Nancy Hale Vickers. He was retired from Russell Corp.
He is survived by his wife Myra Lavert Dunaway Vickers; four daughters, Virginia Holley of Lake City, Fla., Shirley Gardner and Glenda Lindsey, both of Alexander City, and Peggy Rider and husband Wade of Equality; one sister, Eunice Gibson of Talladega; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Rosa Sullins Ballard, 93, of Alexander City will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 7, 2003, at Radney Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. George Stewart will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillview Memorial Park. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2003, and one hour prior to funeral services on Thursday.
Mrs. Ballard died Tuesday, August 5, 2003, at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika. She was born Nov. 1, 1909, in Hamilton to William Sullins and Anna Carter Sullins. She was a member of Orr Street Baptist Church for 50 years, order of the Eastern Star and Woodman of the World. She worked at Edco Discount Center for 17 and a half years.
She is survived by one son, Billy Ray Ballard and wife Carolyn of Montgomery; one grandson, Lynn Ballard and wife Sherrie of Montgomery; one great-granddaughter, Layne Ballard of Montgomery; and one great-grandson, Jake Ballard of Montgomery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn Ballard; son, Charles Lynn Ballard; and granddaughter, Shelia Joyce Ballard.

Harold Ray "Acie" Shivers

Funeral services for Harold Ray "Acie" Shivers, 76, of Alexander City will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003, at Heritage Chapel. Burial will follow at Hillview Memorial Park. Rev. Max Cummings will officiate. Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003, at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home.
Mr. Shivers died Aug. 8, 2003, at his residence. He was born Aug. 13, 1926, in Tallapoosa County to Robert Clinton and Rosa Ellen Lewis Shivers. He was employed by the Highway Department and worked in road construction.
He is survived by three daughters, Judy Vickers and her husband Cohen, Lavell Malone and her husband Frank and Linda Austin and her husband Dough Autrey all of Alexander City; one sister, Peggy Shivers Smith and her husband Ben of Alexander City; five grandchildren, Mike Malone, Krissy Hahn, Amy Hall, Lee Kelly and Daniel Kelly; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and five brothers, Wade, James, Jack, John and Hugh Shivers.

Funeral services for Katherine D. Haynie, 74, of New Site will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, at New Salem Baptist Church. The Revs. David Tuten and Jimmy Allen will officiate. Burial will follow at Bethlehem-New Salem Cemetery. Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003, and at the church for one hour prior to services.
Mrs. Haynie died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2003, at her residence. She was born June 23, 1929, to Claude and Bessie Wheller Causey. She worked as a homemaker and was a member of New Salem Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and was active in WMU. She was also a member of Circle of Friends.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Joe L. Haynie of New Site; three sons, Judson Elliot and Sammy Elliott, both of Eclectic, and Scott Haynie of Houston, Texas; one daughter, Elizabeth Wassman and husband Bill of Theodore; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Butch Causey of Wetumpka and Malory Causey of Fayetteville, N.C., and one sister, Barbara Bently of Charlotte, N.C.

Mrs. Barnes died on Monday, Aug. 11, 2003, at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika. She was born in Ashland on March 29, 1926, to Harold E. Jones and Bessie Dean Jones. She was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church where she had served as a Sunday School teacher and was retired from Russell Corp.
She is survived by one son, Jake H. Barnes Jr. and his wife Trudy of Auburn; two daughters, Linda Chambers and her husband Ray and Debbie Railey and her husband Johnny all of New Site; five grandchildren, Donna McCain and her husband Dale, Stephen Chambers, Jay Chambers, Lindsey Railey and Mallory Railey all of New Site; and one great-grandchild, Hayden McCain of New Site.

Funeral services for Marry Emma Ransaw, 88, of Alexander City will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25, 2003, at Unity Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Roosevelt Gregory will officiate. Burial will follow at Darian Cemetery.
Mrs. Ransaw died Aug. 22, 2003, at Russell Medical Center in Alexander City. She was born Aug. 24, 1914, to West and Carrie Pearson Marbury.
She is survived by her husband The Rev. Charlie Frank Ransaw of Alexander City; two daughters, Elayne Whetstone and husband Tommy of Birmingham, Gwendolyn Martin of Alexander City; three sisters, Frances Walker, Alice Walker and Fannie Mae Allen, all of Alexander City; one brother, Earnest T. Marbury and wife Gloria of Gadsden; four grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, West and Carrie Pearson Marbury.

Funeral services for James Quinton "Kent" Gordon, 84, of Alexander City will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003, at Radney's Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Joe Mallory and Mike Jackson will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillview Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003.
Mr. Gordon died Monday, Aug. 25, 2003, at Baptist Medical Center Montclair in Birmingham. He was born March 13, 1919, in Clay County to Mather Marvin and Fannie Smith Gordon. He was retired from Russell Corp. and was a member of Kellyton United Methodist Church where he had served on the Administrative Board. He was also an avid gardener and wood worker. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Army.
He is survived by his wife, Georgia Lee Gordon of Alexander City; three daughters, Elaine Meigs and husband Ed of Alexander City, Jamelle Kirk and husband Kenneth of Opelika and Deborah Roberts and husband Greg of Wadley and seven grandchildren, Lee Craig and husband Justin of Griffin, Ga., Forrest Meigs of Alexander City, Misty Kirk of Auburn, Cody Kirk of Opelika, Michelle Ferrell and husband Bret of Lee Sumit, Mo., Jim Roberts of Opelika and Rhianna Roberts of Auburn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and three sisters.
