Graveside services for Nona McDaniel Foreman, 90, of New Site will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004 at New Salem Cemetery
in New Site. Rev. John Wilson will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 3 pm, Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004 at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home.
Mrs. Foreman died Friday, Nov. 12, 2004 at Brown Nursing Home. She was born Nov. 19, 1913 to Robert Andrew McDaniel and Lamittis Moore McDaniel and was a member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church. She was a lifelong resident of Tallapoosa County and worked in the textile industry. She was also a homemaker.
She is survived by her brother Howard A. McDaniel and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, K.P. Foreman, three brothers Lawtice McDaniel, Ludeen McDaniel and Woodrow McDaniel.

Merl O. Reed
1909-2004
Graveside services for Merl O. Reed, 95, of Alexander City, formerly of Lima, Ohio, will be held at a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery
in Lima, Ohio.
Mr. Reed died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at Chapman's Healthcare Center. He was born Aug. 24, 1909, in Noble County, Ohio to Lauren and Emma (Groves) Reed. He previously lived at Sunset Valley in Dadeville. He received a bachelor of arts degree from Ohio University and a master of arts degree from Columbia University in New York and completed post graduate work in the school administration at Ohio State University. After teaching and coaching for 13 years in Fayette, Ohio, he moved to Lima in 1943. A former principal of Lima South High School and Lima Central Junior High School, he retired in 1969, after 26 years in the Lima schools. He was a mathematics instructor at Ohio Northern University for World War II veterans. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lima, Ohio, Garrett Wyckoff Lodge No. 585, F&AM National Council of Mathematics Teachers, National Association of Secondary School Principals, National Education Association, National Retired Teachers Association, Allen County Retired Teachers Association, Ohio Education Association and Ohio University Alumni Association.
He is survived by two daughters, Nancy Bier and husband John of Alexander City and Sally Lammus Barnett of Bonita Springs, Fla.; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two step-sons, Dr. Stephen Roush of Lima, Ohio and Don Roush of Dubuque, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 56 years, Martha McAuby Reed; his second wife, Hilda Schumacher Roush Reed and two sisters, Helen Back and Mary Craig.

Graveside services for Marian Ruth Kessler, 72, of Dadeville will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004 at Tallapoosa Memory Gardens. The Revs. Gene Aldridge, Clyde Coker and Donna Thornberg will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004 at Langley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Kessler died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004. She was born January 24, 1932.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Ann Rossi and husband Richard of Torrington, Conn. and JoAnn Corley and husband Charles of Dadeville; one brother, Steve Sherman and wife Jean of Yorktown Heights, N.Y.; two sisters, Cythia Keier of Bronx, N.Y. and Elanor Sherman of Nassau, N.Y.; seven grandchildren, Michael Roberts and wife Janice of Crestview, Fla., Lisa Knapp and husband Bill of Torrington, Conn., Angela R. Davis and her husband Brent of Wawahitchka, Fla., Ronnie Kellum and wife Karen of Dadeville, Shelea Bass and husband Tommy of Wetumpka, Paul Corley and wife Cathy of Valley, and Cheryl Hubbard and husband Travis of Boaz; eleven great grandchildren and host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Helen Sherman; her husband, Richard; one son, James Hoyt Easterwood, Jr.; and one brother, Gus Sherman.

Funeral services for Mr. U.C. "Buster" Gibson, 76, of Ashland will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland. Revs. Cleve Moore and Mark Kytan will officiate. Burial will follow at Clay County Memory Gardens. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec, 4, 2004 and until service time on Sunday at Benefield Funeral Home.
Mr. Gibson died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004 at Clay County Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Clay County and an U.S. Army veteran having served during the
Korean War. He was retired from the Anniston Army Depot after 24 years of service and was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church.
Gibson is survived by his wife Laverne Denney Gibson of Ashland; three daughters, Sandra Edmondson of Lineville, Brenda Kytan of Mellow Valley, Debra Lambert of Goodwater; one son Chris Gibson of Lineville; one brother Elwyn Gibson of Cragford and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother Clyde Gibson and granddaughter Kayla Willis.
Pallbearers will be Robert Nolen, Chris Hayes, Nathan Kytan, Westley Edmonson, Alan Denney and Donald Gibson.

Funeral services for Bobby Joe Smith, 63, of Dadeville will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, at Bay Pine Baptist Church. The Rev. John Dye will officiate. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004.
Mr. Smith died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004. He was born Friday, Oct. 3, 1941.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Lou Smith of Dadeville; four sons, Bobby Joe Smith Jr. and wife Elicia of Segmund, Mo., Ricky Dale Smith and wife Christy, Christopher Early Smith and wife Teressa, all of Dadeville, and Craig Thomas Smith and wife Wanda of Lineville; one daughter, Kristy Lynn Ward of Dadeville and four grandchildren, Tabitha Erin Smith and Jacob Smith, both of Dadeville, and Joanathan Mullally and Ricky Mullally, both of Lineville.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Phyllis Tereasa Smith; one son-in-law, Marrell "Ducky" Ward; his mother, Willie Lee Jennings and his mother-in-law Minnie Lou Cotney.

Funeral services for L.D. Simpson, Sr. will be private. The family received friends at Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home in LaGrange, Ga., Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004 from 1 to 5:30 p.m.
Mr. Simpson died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004 at West Georgia Medical Center. He was born July 2, 1926 in Sand Mountain. He was a retired diesel mechanic from Capital Auto Salvage.
He is survived by his wife, Ardie Simpson of LaGrange, Ga.; four daughters, Brenda Gail of Alexander City, Angela Faye Stidham of Dadeville, Nettie Ruth Peppers and husband Pete of Alexander City, and Martha Jean Pike and husband Tommie of Dadeville; four sons, Lonnie Douglas Simpson, Jr. and wife Margie, Johnny Simpson, Roy Lee Kenny and wife Juanita, all of Alexander City and David Simpson and wife Lizzie of Goodwater; three sisters, Laverne Wilson of Columbiana, Sally Smith and Florence Smith, both of LaGrange, Ga.; one sister-in-law, Dee Bradley of Smyrna, Tenn.; 21 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Donald W. Caldwell Jr., 46, of Union Springs was at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, at Sardis Methodist Church and the Rev. Bruce Willis officiated.
Mr. Caldwell died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, in Russellville, Ark. He was born Aug. 1, 1958, in Auburn to Donald Walter and Julia Ann (Ponder) Caldwell Sr. He attended Washington State University and was a United States Army veteran. He was an artist and a member of Promise Keepers.
He is survived by one daughter, Sara Caldwell of Kent, Wash.; one brother, Allen Caldwell and wife Kim of Monte Lake Terrace, Wash., and two sisters, Susan Peder and husband Alex of Kirkland, Wash., and Cate Baker and husband Scott of Rose Hill, Kan.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Mrs. Clyde Carr, 77, of LaFayette were at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, at New Mt. Sellers Baptist Church in LaFayette. The Rev. Loren Manley officiated. Burial followed at Handy Cemetery
in LaFayette. Visitation was at the church for one hour prior to services.
Mrs. Carr died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika. She was born Aug. 1, 1927, and was a native of Chambers County. She was a long-time member of Freeman Chapel in LaFayette.
She is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Ann Burns and husband Marvin of Cleveland, Ohio and Crystal Denise Lloyd of LaFayette; one brother, Kniphus Todd of LaFayette; one sister, Rodessa Johnson and husband Joseph of Lanett; three grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Paul Stowe, 58, of Dadeville will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, 2004 at Sardis Missionary Baptist Church in Dadeville. The Rev. Willie Perry will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dadeville Cemetery. He will lie in state at the church for one hour before the service. Visitation was from 5-6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004 at Vines Funeral Home in LaFayette.
Mr. Stowe died Monday, Dec. 27, 2004 at his residence. He was born Oct. 30, 1946 in Tallapoosa County. He attended school in the public school system in Tallapoosa County and graduated in 1965. He was also an Army Veteran of the Vietname War.
He is survived by his wife, Opal Stowe of Dadeville; one daughter, Paulette Taylor; two step-daughters, Jannette Rowe of Opelika and Carolyn Caldwell and husband Lee of Summit, Mo.; three sisters, Lonnie Curry of Dadeville, Bobbie J. Oliver of Tallassee, and Willie(Herschell) R. Woodyard of Newark, N.J.; six brothers, Joe Stowe, Robert Johnson and Ralph Stowe, all of Dadeville, Quinton Stowe of Jamaica, N.Y., Jessie Stowe of New York and William Stowe of Alexander City; two uncles, LV Stowe and Coy Stowe, both of Dadeville; two aunts, Hinder Russell of Dadeville and Cora Adams of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one grandson, Jereme and one granddaughter, Akira, of Dadeville; and three step-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Tate died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005 at Goodwater Healthcare. She was born May 9, 1915 in Clay County to Authur and Minnie Jones. She worked as a homemaker and was a member of Oak Chapel Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking and tending her beautiful pink roses and other flowers.
She is survived by one daughter, Saleta Heath and husband Benny of Goodwater; one son Dewey Tate and wife Gail of Goodwater; four grandchildren, Mary Ann Heath, Jason Tate, Christy Hodnett and Kim Roberts; three great-grandchildren, Heather Headrick, Kevin Headrick and Karen Hodnett; one brother, Carl Jones of Roanoke; and one sister Louise Bell of Oxford, N.C.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Almon Tate; one brother, Leon Jones; and three sisters, Annie McLeroy, Frances McDowell and Buena Abernathy.
