OWEN E. COX
VESTAVIA HILLS - Owen E. Cox, 78 years of age, of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, passed on to be with his savior, Jesus Christ, on May 3, 2008. With Joyce Jean, his loving wife of 52 years, at his side, Owen slipped away peacefully.
Owen was a native of Talladega, Alabama, the son of E.C. and Nellie Ree Cox, each of whom preceded him in death. Owen had two sisters: Elmarie Goodwin, of Anniston, and Carolyn Palmer, who preceded him in death. Owen went on to be a stellar athlete in high school, playing almost every play of Talladega High’s two undefeated state championship seasons in 1946 and 1947.
Always grounded by lifelong friendships from this exceptional group of teammates, Owen went on to travel coast-to-coast-to-coast playing college, semi-professional and professional football. After serving in the U.S. Navy during the
Korean War, Owen returned to Alabama to graduate from Jacksonville State University in 1955 and marry the love of his life, Joyce Jean Abrams, in the same year on July 31st.
In addition to his wife, Owen is survived by two sons and their families: Owen Bradley Cox, married to Karen, and their children Brennan and Hayley, of Arlington, Texas; and Eric Bartwell Cox, married to Lisa, and their children Sharkmen and Eric, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Owen will be fondly remembered by Brennan, Hayley, Sharkmen and Eric as their “Grandpa.”
Owen had a rewarding career of more than 20 years with the National Cash Register Company. After retiring from NCR, Owen continued his business endeavors as a homebuilder and real estate developer, leaving a legacy of successful projects that will endure for many years to come. Owen was a member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church.
Owen’s passing leaves a void that through time will be filled with the many happy memories he created through his good works as a loving husband, a nurturing father and a patriotic citizen.
Visitation is at 1:00 p.m., on Monday, May 5th, at Usrey Brown-Service Funeral Home, 516 North Street East, Talladega, Alabama, 35160, to be followed by a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery
in Talladega. The family requests that memorial gifts—in lieu of flowers—be made on behalf of Owen to the American Heart Association, Jefferson County, 1449 Medical Park Drive, NE, Birmingham, Alabama.

OWENSBORO, KY- Mrs. Dorothy S. Watts, oldest of 5 children, 85, of 2018 Airport Road, Owensboro, Ky. 42301 went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 29, 2008.
She was a native of Cordova, Alabama, moved to Owensboro Ky. in 1963. She also lived in Singapore for 10 years. She was employed at cotton mills & General Electric in the early years. She was a member of Good Shepherd Church of Owensboro, Ky. She was involved in her church, a mighty prayer warrior, enjoyed making & selling flower arrangements, sequined sweat shirts, and crochet hand towels. She traveled to 37 Countries.
She is survived by husband of 60 years, Fred, cared for her lovingly & faithfully over the past 3 years in the nursing home. Her sweet spirit will be missed, but as she sang so often, help us to take "One Day at a Time, Sweet Jesus". Son, James F. Johnson of Tallahassee, Fl, Son & Daughter-in-Law, Glenn P. & Sharon Watts of Hendersonville, Tn, Son, Gary T. Watts of Owensboro, Ky, Daughter, Ramona J. Saare of Jasper, Indiana, Daughter, Karen L. Jacobsma of Templeton, Ca, 11 Grandchildren & 9 Great-Grandchildren, Sister, Doris Hallmark of Sylacauga, Al, Sister-in-Law, Helen Stewart of Birmingham, AL.
She was preceded in death by parents: Henry James & Erline Crowell Stewart, Infant Daughter: Janett Watts, Sister: Alice Machen & 2 Brothers: William Stewart & Thomas Stewart.
Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park.
Visitation will be Monday, May 5, 2008 from 1 to 4 PM at Usrey.

SYCAMORE - Funeral services for Ada Lee White, 82, will be held on Tuesday, May 6, at 2 p.m. at the Corinth Baptist Church in Sylacauga with the Rev. Willie Ashley officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. White died on May 1, 2008 at Coosa Valley Medical Center.
She is survived by seven daughters, Earnestine Swain of Childersburg, Bertha Ashley of Talladega, Julie Garrett of Alpine, Debra Davis, Tammy Barlow and Karen Gamble all of Sylacauga; two sons, William White of Detroit, MI, and Kevin White of Sylacauga; sister, Parthenia Hollanquest of Sylacauga; brother, Bobby Funderburg of Talladega; 39 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Flowerbearers will be friends of the family.
Pallbearers will be family and friends of the family.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 12 noon to 8 p.m. at Community Funeral Home Chapel.

MONTGOMERY - Jimmye McCormick Manget, our beloved mother, went to be with Jesus early Saturday morning.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mayme Larkford and her father, Chester McCormick.
She is survived by her sons and their families; Paul and Judy Manget and their two sons, Jon and Mike of Phoenix, AZ, Jeff and Crystal Manget and their daughter, Victoria, of Birmingham, AL.
She was active in her church, Eastern Hills Baptist Church, for nearly 40 years. She loved her retirement home, Eastdale Estates, where she made homemade birthday cards for the residents. She was married for 50 wonderful years to Paul, who she missed since his passing.
Services will be held Monday, May 5, 2008 at 3 p.m. at Leak-Memory Chapel, Montgomery, AL, with the Rev. Larry Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30 until 3 p.m. prior to the services. Honorary pallbearers will be members of her Faith Bible Class at Eastern Hills Baptist, Montgomery, AL.

WILLIAM TERRY STRINGFELLOW
TALLADEGA - Funeral service for Mr. William Terry Stringfellow, 76, of Talladega, will be held on Monday, May 5, at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Doug Hemphill and Dr. Tom Stringfellow officiating. Burial will be at Pine Hill Memorial Park.
Mr. Stringfellow died Friday, May 2, 2008 at his residence.
Terry was born May 27, 1931 to Howard and Kate Stringfellow in Birmingham, AL, but lived most of his life in Talladega. He graduated from Talladega High School, where he played various sports. He was chosen to play on the very first Alabama All State Baseball Team. After high school, he was interviewed for a chance to play professional baseball with the Baltimore Orioles, but was unable to try out due to a football injury. After graduating from high school, Terry served in the U.S. Army for two years. Upon his return home, he entered Auburn University, after which he worked for Soderham Machine Manufacturing Company in the Engineering Department. He traveled extensively, both in the United States, Canada, and Sweden as Project Manager. He retired from USNR, formally Soderham, after 41 years of service. Terry was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he served on several committees. One of his passions was NASCAR Racing. He was one of several men from Talladega to persuade Mr. Bill France to build a super speedway in Talladega. He also loved football and was an avid reader.
He is survived by the love of his life, Mickey Stringfellow of Talladega, four sons, Bobby Stringfellow and wife, Holly, of Birmingham, Al Stringfellow and wife, Stacie, of Talladega, Billy Stringfellow and wife, Lesa, of Andalusia, Tommy Stringfellow and wife, Susan, of Acworth, GA, 10 loving grandchildren, two precious great-grandchildren, sister, Juanita Spruell and husband, Greene, of Bowden, GA, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Kate Chastain Stringfellow.
Pallbearers are his sons and grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers are Milton Duncan, Russell Duncan, Mike Hubbard, Joe Wayne Ingram, Tom Kulk, Tom Richardson, Jim Spratlin, and Charlie Yarbrough.
Visitation is from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 4.

THELMA EULENE COPPOCK WHITE
SYLACAUGA - Funeral services for Thelma Eulene Coppock White, 81, will be held on Monday, May 5, at 11 a.m. at Valley View Church of God with the Rev. Keith Owensby officiating. Burial will be at Anniston Memorial, graveside, at 1:30 p.m.
Ms. White died on May 1, 2008 at Sylacauga Health and Rehab.
She was a member of Valley View Church of God and was a minister. A special thanks to New Beacon Hospice and Sylacauga Health and Rehab.
She is survived by son, Edgar Coppock and wife, Sara, of Anniston, daughters, Carolyn Duke and husband, Jimmy, of Joppa, AL, Jane Mahan of Bremen, GA, and Candace Boggs and husband, Phillip, of Los Angeles, CA, 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by husbands Reverend Frank Coppock and Reverend J.M. White, two sons, and one grandson.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 9:30-11 a.m. at Valley View Church of God.
