PERRY BAKER SR.

CHILDERSBURG -- Funeral service for Perry Baker Sr., 76, will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Methodist Church in Childersburg with the Rev. Willie Frazier officiating. Burial will follow at Baker's Grove Cemetery in Harpersville.

Mr. Baker died Wednesday at his residence. He retired from Floyd And Beasley Trucking, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He is preceded in death by one son, John Dudley.

He is survived by three sons, Trent Baker and Perry Baker Jr., both of Childersburg and Benjamin Baker of Sylacauga; nine daughters, Bettye Anderson and Maryetta Alexander, both of New York; Linda Dudley, Hazel Williams, Doris Baker, Annette Walker and Cythnia Baker, all of Atlanta; Brenda Borden of Childersburg, and Sheila Thomas of Talladega; 35 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers and flower bearers will be friends of the family.

The family will receive friends Sunday from noon to 9 p.m.

Community Funeral Home will direct the service.

PAUL RAY BROWN

SYLACAUGA -- Graveside service for Paul Ray Brown, 36, of 90 Hubbard Road, Sylacauga, was Saturday at 3 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Todd Reaves officiating.

Mr. Brown died June 9 in California.

He is survived by his wife, Andrea Brown of Sylacauga; three step-children, Randy Trussell, Darron Trussell and Brandon Trussell, all of Sylacauga; his mother, Faith Tillery of Florida; his father, Jack Dale Brown of Tallassee; his grandmother, Grace Tillery of Florida; one brother, Stacey Allen of Dadeville; two sisters, Becky Tucker of Jackson Gap and Crystal Seaborne of Florida; and six nieces.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home, North Chapel, directed the service.

BILLY JOE CANADA

TALLADEGA -- Funeral service for Billy Joe Canada, 67, of Talladega, will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Talladega Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ottis Graves officiating. Burial will follow in Midway Memory Garden.

Mr. Canada died Saturday at his home. A native and lifelong resident of Talladega County, he was a member of the West End Church of God, and a retired construction worker.

He is preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Graves, and his father, Elra Canada.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce M. Canada of Talladega; two daughters, Peggy B. Williams of Destin, Fla., and Susan Campbell of Talladega; his mother, Dorothy Shrader Canada of Talladega; two sisters, Carol Bone and Virginia Chambers, both of Talladega; one brother, Jimmy Canada of Talladega; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Active pallbearers will be Mike Taft, Walter Taft Jr., Brad Hollingsworth, Blake Hollingsworth, Gary Haynes and Eric Geier.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Warren Duke, Walter Taft Sr., Milton Morris, Freddie Milam and Harvey Scott.

Talladega Funeral Home will direct the service.

HELEN HEACOCK

SYLACAUGA -- Helen Heacock, 93, died Saturday at her residence.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Curtis and Son Funeral Home, North Chapel.

ROY J. MELLON

ASHLAND -- Funeral service for Roy J. Mellon, 88, of Eastaboga, formerly of Clay County, will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Olive Brach Baptist Church, with the Rev. Wayne Adams and the Rev. Billy Todd officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Mellon died Thursday at Bill Nichols State Veterans Home in Alexander City. A native of Clay County, he was a veteran of World War II, member of the American Legion and retired from the Anniston Army Depot. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Bynum.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John Robert and Beulah Elliott Mellon, and one brother, Otis Mellon.

He is survived by wife, Eva Witt Mellon of Eastaboga; two daughters, Nancy Owens of Birmingham and Betty Parks of Gainesville, Fla.; one son, Larry Mellon of Eastaboga; one sister, Grace Mellon of Ashland; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Active pallbearers will be Don Burroughs, Eugene Landers, Ricky Burroughs, Dr. Robert Steele, Whitney Brown and Dr. Mark Hammock.

Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Young, Bill Todd Sr., Milton Elliott, Benton Young and Phillip Yates.

The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and until one hour prior to service time Monday, and at the church one hour prior to the service.

Benefield Funeral Home of Ashland will direct the service.

MICHAEL D. RIGGINS

ALEXANDER CITY -- Michael D. Riggins of Alexander City died Saturday at Russell Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Wright's Funeral Home.

DEWARD D. ATCHLEY

MONTGOMERY — Graveside service for Deward D. (Buddy) Atchley, 52, was Monday in Evergreen Cemetery with Walter Morris officiating.

Mr. Atchley died June 15.

He is survived by his wife, Marcella W. Atchley of Montgomery; one sister, Darryl Sue DeVaney of Sacramento, Calif.; two nephews, Jason DeVaney and Thomas DeVaney of Sacramento, Calif.; and a great-nephew, Jacob DeVaney of Sacramento, Calif.

Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga directed the service.

BOBBY GRAY

DADEVILLE — Bobby Gray died June 15 at East Alabama Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Wright's Funeral Home.

JAMES WREN HALL

MUNFORD — Funeral service for James (Jimmy) Wren Hall, 58, will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Travis Wilson and the Rev. Tom Graham officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery in Munford.

Mr. Hall died June 17 at Citizens BMC. He was a native of South Carolina, lived most of his life in Florida and had lived the past 26 years in Munford. He was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his parents, William W. and Ruby G. Hall of Munford; two sisters and their husbands, Rachel and Dan Colley of Pensacola, Fla., and Sally and Harold Nickle of Beauford, S.C.; one niece, Lara Nickle of Beauford, S.C.; two special aunts, Beatrice Grogan of Munford and Ethelyn Simpson of Talladega; and caregivers, Gus and Mary Ann Edwards of Talladega.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Dan Colley, Harold Nickle, Joe Bob Sanders, Chris Eisel, Billy Wright and Hugh O'Neal.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ted Mann, Glenn Horn, Alton Cowan, Tommy Fowler, Tom Smith and Dick Linkel.

Usrey Funeral Home will direct the service.

MARTHA ETHEL HALLMAN

CHILDERSBURG — Memorial service for Martha Ethel Hallman, 80, will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Childersburg with the Rev. John Beck officiating.

Ms. Hallman died June 17 at her residence. She was retired from the U.S. Navy with 20 years of service. She was an active member of the Childersburg Garden Club, the Childersburg Historical Society and the XYZ Club of First Baptist Church of Childersburg.

She is survived by two brothers, W.T. Hallman and wife Vivian Hallman of Autaugaville and Jack Hallman of Wilsonville; brother-in-law, Millard Lawrence of Childersburg; one sister, Ann Kenney of Houston, Texas; sister-in-law, Edith Hallman of Guntersville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Childersburg, P.O. Box 356, Childersburg, Ala., 35044.

Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga will direct the service.

ALTON M. HEACOCK SR.

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Alton M. (Helen) Heacock Sr., 92, will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Curtis and Son Funeral Home North chapel with the Rev. Dennis Herron officiating. Burial will be in Marble City Cemetery.

Mrs. Heacock died June 15 at her residence. She was the oldest member of Mignon United Methodist Church and was a church member for more than 82 years. She attended Snead College and went on to become head seamstress for Avondale's Fashion Department.

She is survived by one son, Alton M. Heacock Jr. of Sylacauga; one daughter, Martha Ann Funes of San Antonio, Texas; one sister, Maude Tackett of Sylacauga; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will accept flowers or donations may be made to Mignon United Methodist Church.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the service.
