JOSEPHINE PATRICIA BUEL
TALLADEGA - Funeral services for Josephine Patricia Buel, 61, will be Saturday, Jan. 27, at 1 p.m. at Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary with Pastor Victor Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park.
Ms. Buel died Monday, Jan. 22, at DeKalb Medical Center in Decatur, GA.
She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Angels Church; graduated from Fashion High School; coordinator at James Weldon Johnson Head Start; and founder of a Girl Scout troop. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Jones and Alfreda Grant Jones; and daughter, Zena Buel.
She is survived by sons, Mr. Leroy White, Mr. Jeremy Buel, and Mr. Zaid Buel; daughter, Ms. Connie Buel; brother, Mr. Harry Jones; sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Tally and Ms. Geraldine Jones; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will begin Friday, Jan. 26, at noon until funeral hour on Saturday. Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary will direct the services.

SYLACAUGA - Funeral services for John Henry Bevels Sr., 53, will be Saturday, Jan. 27, at 2 p.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapel with the Rev. Donnie Grice officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery.
Mr. Bevels died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007 at Coosa Valley Medical Center. He loved music and playing his guitar and playing at church was his favorite place. He is survived by his son, John Henry Bevels Jr. of Sylacauga; mother, Mary Honeycutt Bevels of Sylacauga; two sisters, Ann Bancker of Hoover and Barbara Hamilton and husband Edward of Alpine; one nephew, Bobby Robinson; and three nieces, Tracie Hamilton, Jessica Hamilton, and Amanda Hamilton.
Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 26, from 5-8 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Mike Merriadeth, Josh Mizzell, Wes Laughridge, Matt Honeycutt, Michael Merryman, and Bobby Robinson.

ROME, Ga.- Mr. Javan Staples, better known as "Jake", age 62, of 509 Cotton Ave., Rome, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 17, at a local health care facility.
Funeral services will be at on Friday, Jan. 26, at the Faith Temple Holiness Church in Rome, Georgia at 1 p.m. with Pastor Georgia Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in the Eastview Cemetery
in Rome.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lillie Mae Staples; two sons, Gerald (Michelle) Dates and Jason (Kisha) Staples; four daughters, Sabrina Cunningham, Sharon (Demetrius) Dupree, Angela Staples, Jericka (Micah) Staples all of Rome, GA; two sisters, Rosie Curry and Mami Tibbs; and one brother, Vent Wright all of Talladega; one daughter-in-law, Tamala Staples; sister-in-law, Barbra (Barry) Poole; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends also survive.

PELL CITY - Funeral services for Johnnie Edward Williams, 82, will be Saturday, Jan. 27, at 11 a.m. Kilgroe Chapel in Pell City with Bro. Bill Ayres officiating. Interment will be in Seddon Cemetery.
Mr. Williams died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007.
He is survived by daughter, Freida Henderson; son, Johnnie Russell Williams; two sisters, Ruth Lowe and Ruby Tuck; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

LINEVILLE - Funeral services for Alfred C. Carden, age 76, will be Saturday, Jan. 27, at 2 p.m. at Bellview Baptist Church with the Revs. Eddie Haynes, Buford Gaines, and Eugene Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
Mr. Carden passed away Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007, at Regional Medical Center in Anniston.
He was a native and life long resident of Clay County; was a Veteran of the
Korean War having served in the United States Army for two and half years and also in the National Guard for nine years. He was a farmer, wood producer, had worked at Higgins Slacks Manufacturing Company for over 20 years, and was a life long member and a deacon of Bellview Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gladys Dingler Carden of Lineville; three daughters, Janice Pitts (Jimmy), Patricia Carden, and Sharon Knight all of Lineville; one son, Clifton Carden (Terrie) of Lineville; one sister, Ruby Bradford (Vodie) of Lineville; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, King J. Carden and Ressie Lee Gunter Carden; four brothers, Robert Carden, Winford Carden, Clinton Carden, and Hubert Carden.
Pallbearers will be Al Hucke, Johnny Johnson, Charles Higgins, John Hurley, Wayne Watts, and Thirl Craven. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews and all former pastors of Bellview Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to the church or charity of your choice. The family will receive friends until one hour prior to service time. He will lie in state one hour at the church.

He is survived by two daughters, Natalie Glenn and Sasha Glenn both of Dunkirk, NY; mother, Mary Thomas of Apopka, Fla.; three brothers, Dan Glenn of Kansas City, Kan., Brady Glenn of Sylacauga, and Rodger Glenn of Deltona, Fla.; and three sisters, Ann Justice of South Carolina, Trudy Glenn of Pontotoc, Miss., and Barbara Glenn of Orlando, Fla.
Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 28, from 2-5 p.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapel.

Mr. Hohm died Friday, Jan. 26, 2007.
He was a Mason for 55 years; Scottish rite shriner; Veteran of WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife, Fran (Sissy) Hohm; and his parents.
He is survived by daughter, Kendra (McCollister) Terry and husband Troy; two grandchildren, Dylan and Alyssa Terry; special friends, Danny, Angela, and Thomas Traweek, Danielle and Woody Moss.
Visitation will be Saturday, Jan. 27, from noon until service time.

Mr. Jobson passed away Friday, Jan. 26, 2007 at Citizens BMC in Talladega. Survivors are his wife, Zera Jobson of Talladega; one daughter, Sissy Thrower of Munford; two sons, Jeff Hall of Childersburg and Dewey Jobson of Harpersville; one sister, Shirley Whittington of Talladega; two brothers, Larry Jobson of Alpine and James Jobson of Harlenton, Texas; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers are Kenny Duncan, Jason Horn, Chris Bryant, Frank Raughton, Mike Feazell, and Jason Moreland. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Stanley Jett, Dr. David Zinn and staff, Dr. Irfan Rahim, Jerry Hallman, Tom Richardson, Neal Rodgers, and ICU staff of Citizens BMC.
Mr. Jobson was a native of Calhoun County but had lived most of his life in Talladega County. He was a retired textile worker and attended the Church of Christ.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 6-9 p.m. Talladega Funeral Home will direct the services.

TALLADEGA - Memorial service for Effie Gertrude Lipscomb, 83, will be Sunday, Jan. 28, at 1 p.m. at Usrey Chapel in Talladega with the Rev. John Coates officiating.
Mrs. Lipscomb died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007 at her residence.
She was a native of Talladega. She enjoyed hunting for arrowheads, fishing and cooking for family and friends.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna Mathis of Talladega and Annette Dickerson of Loganville, Ga.; two sons, Wayne Phurrough of Ringgold, Ga. and Norman Lipscomb of Bremen, Ga.; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega will direct the service.

Mrs. Mitchell passed away Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007 at Talladega Healthcare Center.
Survivors are two daughters, Carolyn Graham and Christie Taylor both of Talladega; one son, Jim Mitchell of Hollen, Mich.; five sisters, Dorothy Davis, Ruby Rogers, Evelyn Harris, Patricia Finch, Vergie Lacy all of Clay County; four grandchildren, Jamie Mitchell, Terri Mitchell, Brook Mitchell, and Jesse Mitchell. Mrs. Mitchell is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Mitchell; and by a son, Paul D. Mitchell.

Mrs. Mitchell was a native of Clay County but had lived many years in Talladega County. She was a member of the Providence Baptist Church; and was retired from General Electric.

Ms. Mitchell died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
She is survived by sons, Jamie Roney and Thomas McHan; daughters, Robin Hullett, Rene' Henderson, Trina Quesenberry; brother, Joe Smith; sister, Viola Austin; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
