PELL CITY — Funeral service for Melvin Walter Ayres, 82, will be Wednesday, April 26, at 7 p.m. at Eden Westside Baptist Church with the Rev. Jacky Connell and the Rev. Billy Hunt officiating. Graveside service will be Thursday, April 27, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Mr. Ayres died Monday, April 24, in Birmingham. He was a charter member of Eden Westside Baptist Church where he was a member of the choir and the Liberty Sunday School Class. He was a disabled WWII Army Veteran where he served in the European Theater, receiving a Purple Heart. He was the retired owner of A&A Body Shop. He is survived by his wife, Judy Ayres of Pell City; three daughters, Judy Duck (Wayne) of Pell City, Ellen Layton (Mike) of Pell City, and Judy Lynn Walker of Tampa, FL; two sons, William "Bill" Ayres (Patsy) of Pell City and Bob Meads (Staci) of Alpharetta, GA; sister, Mary Sue Acton of Pelham; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the church.

ROME, Ga. — Mrs. Nan Rich Germany, 81, died Saturday. She was born in Wylam, Alabama on Dec. 16, 1924, to the late Charles Hardeman and Lenora Allen Coats. Mrs. Germany was a retired teacher and was preceded in death by her husband the late James R. Germany. Surviving are daughters, Hilda Green of Rome and Sue Rich of Maryland; son, Walter Eugene Rich Jr. of Florida; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three step children; nine step grandchildren; sisters, Jenny Payton, Lenora Bowman, and Jo Voce all of Alabama; several nieces and nephews. TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Dollie Ford McClellan, 84, was Monday, April 24, at 11 a.m. at Usrey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Saccucci, the Rev. Suzie Knedlik and the Rev. Jeff Rutledge officiating. Burial followed in Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery
in Munford. Mrs. McClellan died Friday, April 21, at Regional Medical Center. She was a devoted wife, mother, nanny and "old" nanny. She loved her friends, family and her church family. She also loved gardening and cooking from her garden. She touched the lives of many with her kindness and her ability to make you laugh. She was also known as the Elvis entertainer "David Lee's" number one fan where she always had a front row seat. She enjoyed being a member of "The David Lee Fan Club" of Birmingham. All who knew her knew her quote "It don't get no better than that." She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Frank R. McClellan; and a son, John T. McClellan Sr. She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Johnson (Tommy) of Munford and Shirley Alford (Archie) of Longview, Texas; one son, Terry F. McClellan (Eva) of Kilgore, Texas; one daughter-in-law, Judy McClellan; six granddaughters, Tina Graben (Stephen), Karen Harris (Scott), Julie Rogas (Craig), Gail Lackey, Susan Lynn Deuel (Scott) and Wendy Holmes; four grandsons, Michael Lowrance (Gina), Russell McClellan, Terry F. McClellan Jr. (Amy) and John T. LINCOLN — Ronald "Ronny" McLelland, 57, died April 24, 2006. He was employed as an operating engineer and a member of Local 312 since 1969. Ronny served in the United States Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran. Ronny was best known for his generosity, his smile, sense of humor, love of music and dance which will be missed by all who loved him. He was preceded in death by his father, Sidney "Mac" McLelland. Ronny is survived by his wife of 35 years, Lynn McLelland; two daughters, Lisa Latham (Rex), and Amiee Mitchell (James) all of Lincoln; one son, Ronald McLelland Jr. "RJ" (Melissa) of Sycamore; eight grandchildren, Jessie, Molly, Libbie, Ryland, Aubrey, Tyler, Zach, and Lauren; his mother Lee McLelland of Lincoln; sister, Laura "Jeannie" Underwood of Maryland; brother, Glen McLelland of New Jersey; and by several nieces and nephews and a host of close friends. She was a member of Enon Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a secretary of the church, teacher of Sunday School, class #7, president of senior choir #1, and was inducted into the Enon Hall of Fame Sept. 25, 1999. She was a trustee of College Temple #823; treasurer of Nellie B. Ollison PDR Club; lifetime member of Palmer Lee Taylor Post #25 and Sgt.-at-arms; retired from Booker T. Washington Insurance Co. as supervisor after 33 years; Childersburg Citizens Advisory Committee as a chartered member and treasurer; member of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce; member of Childersburg Heritage Society; Childersburg Hall of Fame inductee, 1994; board of directors, Butler & Harris Museum; board of directors, United Givers Fund; chairman, City-wide Clean Up Campaign; board of directors of College City Federal Credit Union; honored with the Carolyn Reynold's Day, 1975; was a graduate of Drewry High School and attended Tuskegee Institute. She was a member of the Missionary Society. She is survived by her husband, Walter L. WINONA, MS — George was a lifelong resident of Winona, Mississippi. He died Saturday, April 29, 2006, at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital in Winona. He grew up on a farm during the Depression and lived the values learned there for the eighty six years of his life. His parents were James George Mortimer and Anna Belle Scruggs. George married Mae Egger in 1946 and had two daughters, Margaret Elizabeth Wade Johnston and Jean Anne Fisackerly. Margaret is married to Mark Johnston of Camp McDowell, Alabama and Jean Anne is married to Tommy Fisackerly of Winona, Mississippi. He had six grandchildren, Alison Marie Wade of Tuscaloosa, Patrick Fisackerly and Jennifer Fisackerly of Winona, MS, Noah Johnston of North Carolina, Adam Johnston of Auburn, and Ethan Johnston of Camp McDowell; and one great grandson, John Allen Carter Wade of Tuscaloosa. He is survived by one sibling, Sarah Wainwright of Hattiesburg, Mississippi. George proudly served in the Pacific theater of World War II for three years as a member of the US Army Air Corps. When returning from the War, he worked for about 30 years as Parts Manager of Gerrard Chevrolet in Winona. He and Mae bought Wilson Furniture Company in the early 1970's and were self-employed at the furniture store until their retirement. They enjoyed traveling together and George worked in his yard and garden after retirement. George was a member of First Baptist Church of Winona, and the Adult Men's Bible Class there. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 1, at the First Baptist Church of Winona and burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery

He was preceded in death by his father, William Martin Wesley; mother, Tennie Driver Wesley; aunt, Nelle Johnson; brothers, Bill Wesley, Winfield Wesley, Jerry Don Wesley, and Bert Wesley. TALLADEGA — Memorial services for Amanda Mae Brown, 89, will be at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses in Talladega, AL on Friday, May 12, 2006 at 7:00 PM with Donald Phillips officiating. Burial will be at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Lancaster, Ohio. Mrs. Brown passed away Wednesday, May 10 at home. She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on March 25, 1951. She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne E. Brown and six brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include her five daughters, Mary Jo Gobel, (Roger L. Gobel) of Talladega; Nancy and Hubert White, Carroll, OH; Diane and Gail Strefling and Sandra and Fred Gertenlehner of Punta Gorda, FL; and Connie Block of Carroll, OH. 23 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren including 7 sets of five generations. She is also survived by one brother Chalres See of Venice, FL; three sisters, Mildred Hoskinson and Nina Bowman of Lancaster, OH; Elizabeth Griffith of Columbia Station, OH.
