TALLADEGA—Funeral service for John Raymond Crump, 72, of Lincoln will be Sunday, March 19 at 3 p.m. from the Refuge Baptist Church in Lincoln with the Rev. Ronnie Chatman officiating. Burial will follow in the Halls Cemetery. Mr. Crump passed away March 17 at Regional Medical Center in Anniston. Survivors are his wife, Ivoline Crump of Lincoln; three daughters, Cathy McRae and her husband Tommy of Talladega, Donna Harris of Vincent and Cindy Rhoades of Lincoln; two sons, Marty Crump and his wife Kim of Riverside and Terry Harris and his wife Deborah of Talladega; one sister, Edna Simmons of Oxford; one brother, Noland Crump of Lincoln; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers are William Rhoades, Grady Thrower, Tim Crump, Cary Steed, Darryl Crump, Gary Pettis, Charles Jennings, Bob Phillips and Jeff Fannin. Mr. Crump was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega County. He was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served in the Korean conflict. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lincoln and was a retired employee of the city of Lincoln where he served in many forms of local government. He was an avid outdoorsman and turkey hunter. Mr. Crump will lie in state for one hour before the services at the Church. Talladega Funeral Home will direct the service.

TALLADEGA—Funeral service for Fred Lackey, 86, of Talladega County, will be Monday, March 20 at 2 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Bunk Haynes officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Memorial Park in Talladega. Mr. Lackey died Friday, March 17 at University Hospital. A native and lifelong resident of Talladega County, he was a veteran of World War II, attended Jennifer Baptist Church and was a former employee of Cheaha Construction Company. He is survived by his companion, Louise Blackerby of Munford; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dianne Lackey and David Farmer of Brownwood, Texas, and Martha Lackey and Phillip Pettis of Lincoln; one son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Fran Lackey of Pell City; one step-daughter and step-son-in-law, Linda and Jack Mace of Oxford; four step-sons and step-daughters-in-law, James Thomas and Renota Johnson of Southside, Charles Allen and Jeanie Johnson of Munford, Ronnie and Jane Blackerby of Munford, and Joey and Motacha Blackerby of Munford; two sisters, Margie Miller of Marrietta, Ga., and Beal Gentry of Huntsville; 13 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Nell McCain Lackey, his daughter Jane Harriss, his parents and nine brothers and sisters. Active pallbearers will be Ted Lackey, Owen Lackey, Barry Lackey, Ricky Lackey, Joey Hutto, Joe Frank Hutto, Ronnie Blackerby and Joey Blackerby. Mrs. Rainey is preceded in death by her husband Eugene Cason Rainey; one son, Horace Eugene Rainey; one sister, Faye Cork; and her daughter-in-law Linda Rainey. She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Nabors (Mark); her son, Leslie Nabors (Laura); her sister, Sara Owen (Donald); and four grandchildren, McKayla Hope Hodges, Matthew Edwin Hodges, Maxwell Blaine Hodges and Savannah Marie Nabors. He was an avid Hunter and outdoorsmen, a member of the Lineville Masonic Lodge, N.R.A., N.W.T.F., and an honorary member of the Governors Fish and Game Advisory Board. Joined her Lord and Savior March 18, 2006. Today she is rejoicing in Heaven with the Saints. Kathryn was a much loved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Kathryn Odelle touched many lives with her unique personality, including her Southern demeanor of dress, her wonderful preparation of delicious recipes, canning sumptuous jelly, jams, preserves, pickles, her talent soared of original homemade cakes and pies, her famous homemade biscuits and touch of uniqueness with antiques and her floral arrangements. Member of the Parkdale United Methodist Church for 60 years. Kathryn Odelle is preceded in death by her beloved, darling husband of 50 years, (Ben) Henry Burton Shurette, 11-28-1987; parents Ted and Lizzie Peoples; parents-in-law, Neal and Nettie Shurette; sisters, Eunice Marie Peoples and Ruthie Pauline Thornton; brother-in-law, Robert Thornton; brother, J.C. In 1973, they opened Hancock's Country BBQ on Highway 22 West in Selma, until their son Mike and his wife Deborah assumed operation in 1980. We've met so many wonderful friends in our many years. She worked as a dispatcher for the Talladega Sheriff's Department and Pell City Police Department for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen Harmon; father, Griffin A. Holcomb; and brother, Buddy Holcomb. She is survived by one daughter, Sonya H. Jenkins of Winterboro; two sisters, Martha Clevenger and Sara Knight both of Talladega; mother, Duwees "Mudge" Holcomb of Talladega; three grandchildren, Brandy K. St. Germain of New Orleans, LA, the Rev. Phillip R.
