In 1973, Rev. Harris was called to his wife’s home church, Pell City Bible Methodist Church. He served there faithfully and diligently for 31 years until 2003 when he felt he should retire for health reasons.

True to character, Bro. Harris didn’t stay retired. He started (almost immediately) preaching at the East Lake Bible Methodist Church. He soon officially accepted the call to pastor the church. He continued to serve there until his death.

Rev. Harris also demonstrated his love and care for people as he greeted families at Kilgroe Funeral Home Leeds for the past five years. In Heaven Rev. Harris was reunited with his son Steve Harris and his parents Robert J.C. and Gladys Harris. Here on earth he will be missed by all who knew him, especially his family. Papaw, we love you and miss you.
