EMMA DALE GAY ATKINSON
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Emma Dale Gay Atkinson, formerly of Talladega, died Tuesday, August 2 at the age of 89. She was predeceased by her mother Ruth Chambers Gay of Talladega and her husband Leland Guy Atkinson, Jr. of Wadesboro, N.C.
She is survived by her son, Leland G. "Landy" Atkinson, III, his wife Deborah A. Wight and their son Ryan C.W. Atkinson of Rochester, N.Y. and her daughter, D. Gay Atkinson, II and husband Gary A. Michaud of Stonington, ME., her brother-in-law, Harold W. Atkinson of N. Myrtle Beach, S.C., her cousin, Dorothy Power of Talladega, three nephews Obie and Chip Atkinson of Harrisville, NH, Murray Olmstead, of Moorspark, CA., and a niece, Kathy Forbes, of Waxhaw, N.C. Dale was born August 13, 1916 in Talladega to Arnold W. Gay and Ruth Chambers Gay. She was an only child with nine aunts and uncles. She graduated from Louisiana State University with a BA in Journalism and was a sister of Delta Delta Delta. She furthered her education at the Teachers College, Columbia University, New York where she received her master's degree in child psychology. She taught ballroom dancing in New York City for Arthur Murray's Dance Studio. Dale trained to teach the deaf at the School for the Deaf, Edgewood, PA. Later she taught the deaf in Providence, RI, Trenton, NJ and Santa Barbara, CA. On October 12, 1945 she married Leland Guy "Lee" Atkinson, Jr. at Trinity Episcopal Church in Boston, MA. they settled in Beaver, PA where she raised her family. Lee was Plant Engineer for the Westinghouse Standard Controls Division. After Lee's death in 1985, Dale moved back to Talladega to be closer to her roots and childhood friends. In 1998, she moved to St. John Meadows in Rochester, N.Y. to be involved with her grandson, Ryan. Interment will be on Dale and Lee's 60th wedding anniversary at 11:30 a.m., October 12, 2005 in the Eastview Cemetery, Wadesboro, N.C. SYLACAUGA - Funeral services for Dorothy Riggins Harris, 74, will be Sunday, August 14 at 2 p.m. at Mignon Baptist Church with the Rev. Todd Reaves officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Harris died Thursday, August 11 at her residence. She was a member of Mignon Baptist Church where she was a member of the Adult 3 Mixed Sunday School Class. She retired from Avondale Mills after some 13 years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hoyal and Essie Mae Riggins and her sister, Barbara Riggins Clower. She is survived by her husband, Linwood Harris of Sylacauga; sons, Greg Minor of Helena and Mike Taylor of Birmingham; daughter, Gail Turner of Sylacauga; step-sons, David Harris of Sylacauga and Rodger Harris of Lowndesboro; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Saturday, August 13 from 5-8 p.m.

TALLADEGA — Funeral services for Robert Wayne “Robbie” Whitten Sr., 41, will be Wednesday, August 17 at 2 p.m. at the Talladega Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Love officiating. Burial will be at Bethlehem UMC Cemetery
in Munford.
Mr. Whitten died Sunday, August 14 in Talladega.
He was a native of Atlanta, Georgia, but had lived most of his life in Talladega County. He was a master carpenter and was employed by Elkins Construction. He was a member of Wewoka Assembly of God.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas F. and Virginia Whitten and brother, Jerry Whitten Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Paige Whitten of Talladega; sons, Robbie Whitten Jr., Brenten Whitten, Samuel Whitten, Alex Whitten all of Talladega; sisters, Ann Wills and Penny Hudson both of Talladega; brothers, James Franklin and Tony Ray Whitten both of Talladega; grandmother, Dora Norris of Warner Robbins, Ga.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 16 from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Charles Haynes Jr., Wes Hudson, Jeremy Tipton, Johnny Jones, Jessie Bromage, Michael Shane Hudgins, George Landers, Billy Ray Elkins and George Sims.

Ms. Wilson died Saturday, August 13 at her residence.

MARJORIE LEE ROZELLE
ASHLAND — Graveside services for Marjorie Lee Rozelle, 79, will be Tuesday, August 16 at 2 p.m. at Ashland City Cemetery
with Rev. Frank Raspberry officiating.
Mrs. Rozelle died Monday, August 15 at the Clay County Hospital.
She was a native of Etowah County; a former resident of Tuscaloosa. She attended Marvins Chapel United Methodist Church near her home on Highway 148. She and her husband, Albert operated a Garden Store on the Ashland Square and later sold fruit trees and nursery stock at their home.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Clarence Collins and Edgar Collins.
She is survived by her husband, Albert Lee Rozelle of Ashland.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 16 from 12:30 -2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Donald Patterson, William Patterson, Lee Rozelle, Bill Sim, Stanley Smith, Ben Wood, Joe Runyan, and Coolidge Sims.

Burial will be at Marble City Cemetery. Mr. Cleghorn died Wednesday, August 17 at Sylacauga Health Care. He retired from Avondale Mills; served in the U.S. Army. He was a native of Sylacauga. He is survived by his wife, Jane S. Cleghorn of Sylacauga; son, Thomas P. Cleghorn of Sylacauga; daughters, Patricia Thomas and Jo Holmes both of Sylacauga; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, John William "Johnnie" White and Margaret Thelma Allen White. Mrs. Coleman died Saturday, August 27, 2005 at her residence.

RAGLAND - Funeral service for Ruby Virginia Grizzell, 85, of Ragland will be held at Usrey Chapel in Pell City on Monday, Aug. 29 at 2 PM with the Rev. Day Ford officiating. Burial will follow in Macedonia Baptist Cemetery
in Ragland.
Mrs. Grizzell died Aug. 26 at her residence.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 6-8.
She was a homemaker and an avid quilter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Clinton Grizzell, and by 2 children, Fay Irwin and John E. Grizzell.
Survivors include daughter: Ruby N. DeLoach; 2 sons: Billy B. Grizzell and Richard T. Grizzell; 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren.

The body will be at the church 1 HR prior to the service.
Mr. McKinney died 8-23-05 at Talladega Health Care in Talladega.
Survivors include 8 sisters, Ester Baker of Munford, Ala., Legurtha Westbrook of Heflin, AL, Barbara Dark, Edna Embry and Flora Johnson, all of Talladega, AL, Betty and her husband Larry Lane of Cleveland, OH, Lillie and Milton Pickett of Cleveland, OH, and Mary and George Ragland of Gadsden, AL.; 1 brother, David (Vivian) McKinney of Munford, AL.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
Mr. McKinney was a Talladega native and was a handy man around Munford at Carter’s Hardware for many years. He was preceded in death by sister Ruth Ackles, Brother Rufus McKinney, mother and father, D.L. and Fannie McKinney, nephew Roger McKinney and niece Kendra Lane.
The family will accept flowers.
