ALPINE - Harold L. Cook, 72, of 444 Nottingham Road, died April 23 at Veterans Affairs Hospital. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary.

RUTH JENKINS

TALLADEGA - Funeral service for Ruth Jenkins, 60, will be Monday, April 25, at 1 p.m. at New Hope United Methodist Church in Talladega with Elder Gregory Turner officiating. Burial will be in Lane Chapel C.M.E. Church in Talladega. Mrs. Jenkins died April 19 at her residence. She was born in Albion, Mich. She was preceded in death by her father, Eddie Washington; her mother, Rosetta Johnson; one brother, Bobby Couvillion; one sister, Jacqueline Couvillion; and her husband, David Jenkins Sr. She is survived by two sons, David (DeAnna) Jenkins of Portsmouth, Va., and Tony Jenkins of Charleston, S.C.; three daughters, Cindy Jenkins and Cynthia (Greg) Turner, both of Talladega and Lisa Jenkins of Smyrna, Ga.; one sister, Betty Johnson of Kansas City, Kan.; and nine grandchildren. Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers. No public viewing. Goodson Funeral Home will direct the service.

SUSAN HOLT HERRING NABORS

TALLADEGA - Graveside service for Susan Holt Herring Nabors, 94, will be Sunday, April 24, at 3 p.m. in Pine Hill Cemetery in Talladega with the Rev. Richard Castleberry officiating. Mrs. Nabors died April 23 at Talladega Nursing Home. Mrs. Nabors was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega where she was a member of the Talladega First Baptist Church. She was a former longtime dietician for the Talladega School for the Blind and later retired as a bookkeeper. She was a former member of the Eastern Star and was preceded in death by her husband, Roy L. Nabors; a daughter, Barbara Nabors Fannin; and a son, Robert "Bobby" Nabors.

Survivors include a son, Charles E. Nabors and his wife Shirley of Talladega; a sister, Dorothy Herring Reaves of Talladega; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Kiah Phillips, Tommy Davis, Billy Dan Nabors, Buddy Capps, Frank Canada and Bob Nunn. The family will accept flowers or memorials can be made to the Talladega First Baptist or a favorite charity. Talladega Funeral Home will direct the service.

SUSIE POPE

ANNISTON - Susie Pope, 88, died April 22 at Regional Medical Center. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Ervin Funeral Chapel.

HISSOP - Lily Powell died April 23 at Russell Medical Center. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Wright's Funeral Home.

TALLADEGA - Funeral service for Bettie L. Radney, 61, of 925 West Battle St., will be Monday, April 25, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church with the Rev. William Foster officiating. Burial will be in Union Spring Church Cemetery. Mrs. Radney died April 19 at her residence. She is survived by her husband, Willie Radney of Talladega; two sons, Gregory Radney and Reginald Radney, both of Talladega; three sisters, Marion Thomas of Cleveland, Ohio, Juanita Lawler of Bayside, N.Y., and Shirley (John) Ware of Talladega; one brother, Nelson "Pop" Lawler of Talladega; and a host of other relatives. The body may be viewed at the church for one hour before the service. Sims Funeral Service will direct the service.

GOODWATER - Funeral service for Staff Sgt. Dedric D. Taylor will be Tuesday, April 26, at 2 p.m. at the National Guard Armory in Goodwater with the Rev. Thelma Lauderdale officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Home Church Cemetery in Goodwater. Armour's Memorial Funeral Home will direct the service.

VINCENT - Funeral services for Edna Howard Allen, 79, will be Friday, April 29, at 2 p.m. at Sterrett Church of God of Prophecy, with interment in adjoining cemetery. She died April 26. She is survived by sisters Mae Laumenick, Corinne Edwards, Fana Register, Robbie Kelley, Gilda Morris; brothers Edgar Howard, Isaac Howard, Ferrell Howard, Regenald Trussell; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday, April 28, 5 p.m. at the Church.

Pallbearers are David Allen, Mark Allen, Ricky Allen, Mark Howard, Dennis Howard, John Douglas. Kilgroe Funeral Home of Pell City will direct the services.

JERRY DEE CLEMENTS

RIVERSIDE - Funeral services for Jerry Dee Clements, 62, will be Friday, April 29, at 2 p.m. at Kilgroe Chapel in Pell City with the Dr. Greg Corbin officiating. Interment will be in Valley Hill Memorial in Pell City. Mr. Clements died April 27. He is survived by his brothers, James Clements, Johnny Clements and Leon Clements; sisters, Mary Glenn and Ruth Morton; several nieces and nephews; and aunts, Vada Vaughan and Viola Gore. Visitation will be Thursday, April 28, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

SYLACAUGA - Funeral services for Mr. James W. Drake, Sr., are Friday at noon, from the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Frederick Kirkland, officiating. Interment in the Harper Springs Cemetery. Mr. Drake died Monday, April 25, at Coosa Valley Baptist Medical Center. A native of Macon County, preceded in death by his mother, Stella Drake; employed by Coosa Valley Baptist Medical Center; Russell Medical Center; and the Medical Practice of Dr. G. Holdsworth; Graduate of East Highland School. Survivors include his wife, Annie Dean Drake, Sylacauga; one daughter, Stephanie Drake, Sylacauga; one son James Drake, Jr., Sylacauga; father, George Drake, Jr., Sylacauga; one sister Katie Speer, Montgomery; two brothers, Jeffery Drake, Sylacauga; Calvin Drake, Marion; one granddaughter.

Pallbearers: Robert Kirkland, Darnell Corbin, Cedric Kirkland Calvin Drake, Jr., Christopher McGowen and Duncan Crowder; Honorary pallbearers: Coach Dwight Duke and Coach Bernadean Showers. Madden's Funeral Service will direct.

PELL CITY - Funeral services for Pinkney Marshall Hartley, Sr., 84, will be Friday, April 29, at 10 a.m. at Usrey Chapel in Pell City, with the Rev. Doug Ford officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Memorial Gardens. Mr. Hartley died Wednesday, April 27, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pluma J. Hartley; his parents, Marvin and Pary Hartley; sisters, Elsie Allred, Estelle Vines and Lillie Jane Hartley; and brothers, Elmer Bud Hartley, Eulas Hartley, Bobby Hartley and Clyde Hartley.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Hartley, of Pell City; a daughter, Jane Clements (Robert), of Pell City; sons Pinkney Marshall Hartley, Jr. (Nancy DeLong) of Pell City, Mike Baxter (Beth) of Faceville, Ga., and Darryl Baxter (Susan) of Leeds; sisters Ruby Robinson of Dora, Lola Mae Thomas of Guntersville, Jeanette Davis of Tifton, Ga., and Vonnie McGlaughlin of Albertville; grandchildren Pinkney Marshall Hartley, III (Rebecca) of Birmingham, Patrick Jay Hartley (April) of Pell City, Melissa Jane Hartley of Pell City, Joseph Sean Baxter of Leeds and Elisha Baxter of Faceville, Ga.; and great grandchild Libby Jay Hartley of Pell City. DELMER NADEAN HOWARD

TALLADEGA - Funeral service for Delmer N. Howard, 63, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Midway Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel, with Bill Duck officiating. Burial will be in Midway Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Howard died April 24 at St. Vincents Hospital. She was a native and resident of Talladega. She was Baptist by faith. She was preceded in death by her mother Evie Mae Hastings. She is survived by two sons, Larry Howard and David Howard, both of Talladega, and one daughter, Sherry Kilgore of Opelika; two daughters-in-law, Michelle and Charlotte Howard, and one son-in-law, Bobby Kilgore; Nine grandchildren, Casey Pearson, Crystal Pearson, Angela Howard, Jeffery Martin, Kim and Josh Morgan, Tiffany Howard, David Howard Jr., David and Ashley Kilgore; three great-grandchildren; Joshua and Breanna Martin, Summer Morgan, and baby Morgan on the way.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Martin, David Howard Jr., James Ingram, Joshua Morgan, David Kilgore and Kenny Robinson. Midway Memory Gardens Funeral Home will direct the service.

RONALD TERRELL KELLY, SR.

SYLACAUGA - Funeral Service for Ronald Terrell Kelly, Sr., 64, will be Friday, April 29, at 2 p.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapel, Sylacauga with the Rev. Ralph Green officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with military honors. Mr. Kelly died Tuesday, April 26, at his residence. He was a native of Jackson, Ga., a retired correctional officer with Houston County Correctional Institute in Georgia, he served in the U.S. Army, and attended Bluff Springs Baptist Church.

He is survived by wife Betty Astor Kelly, of Sylacauga; sons Ronald T. Kelly, Jr. of Macon, Ga., Albert Lynn Kelly, of Macon, Ga., Ronald Terrell Kelly, Jr. of Warner Robins, Ga., John Leslie Kelly of Sylacauga; step-daughters Beverly Ann Kilgore of Sylacauga, Donna Jean Thrasher of Sylacauga, Brenda Lee Reaves, Carla Michelle Abarca of Warner Robins, Ga., Sandra Gail Green of Sylacauga, Lisa Denise Gardner of Sylacauga; sister Shirley Jean Kelly of Fort Valley, Ga.; 31 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 28, from 2-9 p.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapel.

BARBARA JEAN RYAN

PELL CITY - Memorial service for Barbara Jean Ryan, 77, will be Saturday, April 30, at 3 p.m. at Kilgroe Chapel, Pell City. Mrs. Ryan died April 27. She is survived by husband Jerry T. Ryan; sons Patrick T. Ryan, Michael T. Ryan and Timothy T. Ryan; brother Michael Lytle; ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. Kilgroe Funeral Home, Pell City will direct the services.

Zion Missionary Baptist Cemetery in Ashland. Mr. Ingram died April 29 at Mountain View Lake Retirement Village. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Marie Ingram; his parents, William and Manuela Ingram; and his sister, Josie Ingram. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He resided at the Mountain View Lake Assisted Living and was a member of the Oak Grove Senior Center. He retired after 30 years of service with the U.S. Navy and spent 2 1/2 years as a P.O.W. in Japan. He is survived by his brother, Rolando Ingram of Fort Worth, Texas. Howard; four daughters, Debbie (William) Frith, Becky (Charlie) Layfield, Shannon (Peanut) Beatty and Pat (Randy) Hughes; sister, Margie Guthrie; six stepsons, Ricky Helms, Richard Helms, James Helms, Tommy Helms, Gary Helms and Donald R. Howard; 18 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

ALPINE — Graveside service for Mavis Machen Pruitt, 89, will be Monday, May 2, at 2 p.m. in Tallasahatchie Cemetery with the Rev. David Rozelle officiating. Mrs. Pruitt died April 30 in Alpine. She was preceded in death by her husband, Author Pruitt; and a son, Gary Lynn Pruitt. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Ann House of Alpine; three sons, Mack Author Pruitt of Alpine, Jerry Lee Pruitt of Alpine and Robert Earl Pruitt of Alpine; two brothers, Louie Machen of Sylacauga and Cecil Machen of Sylacauga; sister, Lucille Guyther of Sycamore; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Mark House, Scott Pruitt, Randy Thomas, Mike Pruitt, John Thomas, Corey Blanchard, Frank Allen and Josh Thomas. FAYETTEVILLE — Funeral service for William Nolan "Cooter" Ricks, 71, will be Monday, May 2, at 11 a.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home chapel in Sylacauga with the Rev. Tony McGrady officiating. Burial will be in Fayetteville Methodist Cemetery in Fayetteville. Mr. Ricks died April 29 in Alexander City. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Joye C. Ricks. He also served as supervisor with the water and sewer department for the city of Sylacauga for some 40 years. He is survived by three sons, William David Ricks of Sylacauga and wife Fay, Donald Ricks of Sylacauga and Dale Ricks of Sylacauga and wife Kendra; two daughters, Pamela Grice of Sylacauga and husband Greg and Angie Gregory of Columbiana and husband Chris; two sisters, Odell Easterling of Clanton and Mildred Mask of Sylacauga; four grandchildren, Connie Vandiver of Childersburg, Anna Ricks of Sylacauga, Anthony Ricks of Sylacauga and Kyle Cotton of Sylacauga; and three great-grandchildren, Pamela Weldon of Childersburg, Christopher Weldon of Childersburg and Jessie Vandiver of Childersburg.
