DEACON JOHN HANN JR.

LINEVILLE — Funeral service for Deacon John Hann Jr., 84, will be Saturday, Feb. 12, at 2 p.m. at Spring Hill Baptist Church in Lineville with Pastor Donovan Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Lineville Community Cemetery.

Mr. Hann died Feb. 8 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Birmingham. He was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County and was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church, where he served on the Deacon Board and as superintendent of the Sunday school. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Effie Hann Sr.; his wife, Ruth Ann; and sons, Walter Gay Hann, Durell Hann and the Rev. Marvin Hann.

He is survived by sons, John E. Hann and Timothy Hann of Lineville and David Hann of Talladega; daughters, Mary West of Columbus, Ohio, Ida Bishop of Lineville, Eloise Durrell of Ashland and Lisa Hann of Stone Mountain, Ga.; sisters, Ida Seals, Addie Bass and Betty Barney of Buffalo, N.Y.; brother, George Hann of Buffalo, N.Y.; 24 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.

The body may be viewed at the church for one hour before the service.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Sims Funeral Service will direct the service.

ELLA MAE McCAIN

HOLLINS — Funeral service for Ella Mae McCain will be Saturday, Feb. 12, at 2 p.m. at Hollins Spring Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Cecil Vincent officiating. Burial will be in Hollins Spring Cemetery.

Mrs. McCain died Feb. 7 at Brown’s Nursing Home in Alexander City. She was a native of Clay County and a member of Hollins Spring Missionary Baptist Church. She served on the Missionary Society and on the Mother Board. She was preceded in death by her husband, E.W. McCain.

She is survived by daughters, Dorothy J. (Rev. Cecil) Vincent, Mulvine McCain and Arnetha McCain of Hollins and Lucille Harvey of Sylacauga; sons, Edgar L. (Archie J.) McCain, Fred W. McCain, David E. McCain and Bernard McCain of Hollins; brother, Merkel Oliver of Dadeville; sisters-in-law, Cozie Oliver of Nixburg and Ada Smoot of Goodwater; 34 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and special niece, Emma Hagan.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Madden’s Funeral Service will direct the service.

CLARENCE RICHARDSON

TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Clarence Richardson, 74, of 907 Coffee St., will be Saturday, Feb. 12, at 2 p.m. at Terry’s Metropolitan Mortuary chapel with the Rev. Samuel Turner and the Rev. L.L. Jacobs officiating. Burial will be in Kelly Springs Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Richardson died Feb. 8 at Talladega Health Care Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley Richardson and Kathelean Curry Richardson; sister, Marie Finley; and brothers, Willie Lee Richardson, Wiley Richardson Jr., Walter Richardson, John A. Richardson, Curtis Richardson, J.D. Richardson and Calvin Richardson. He attended Talladega County Training School and was a former employee of Talladega County Road Department.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Richardson of Talladega; daughters, Jearlean Cameron and Earlean Richardson of Talladega; sons, John Jemison of Buffalo, N.Y., Michael Jemison of Jacksonville, Fla., and Willie Jemison of Talladega; sister, Gussie Finley of Talladega; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Edward Richardson, Harry Finley, Rodney Finley, Benny Stockdale, David Suttle, Phillip Suttle, Jeff Curry and Ronnie Richardson.

Terry’s Metropolitan Mortuary will direct the service.

MABLE LOU SWAIN

ALPINE — Funeral service for Mable Lou Swain, 44, of 129 Sunrise Circle, will be Saturday, Feb. 12, at 2 p.m. at St. Campbell Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Fair and the Rev. Raymond Garrett officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Ms. Swain died Feb. 5 at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham. She was a 1978 graduate of Talladega County Central High School and a graduate of Pittard Vocation School. She was employed by A.I.D.B. for 18 years and was a member of ESPO. She was a member of St. Campbell Baptist Church, where she sang in the group Women Voices. She was under watch care of the Liberty Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dudley Swain and Mable Garrett Swain; sisters, Geraldine Curry and Glendine Swain; and brother, Cleveland Chatman.

She is survived by daughter, Adrianna Swain of Huntsville; son, Daron Swain of Alpine; sisters, Estella Garrett and Evaline S. Garrett of Alpine, Linda Faye Williams of Talladega and Glenda K. Lewis of Reseda, Calif.; brothers, W.C. Swain, Bennie Carl Swain, Alonza Swain and Perry D. Swain of Alpine; six grandchildren; and her fiancé, Ronald Datcher of Alpine.

The body may be viewed at the church for one hour before the service.

Nephews and family friends will serve as pallbearers.

Terry’s Metropolitan Mortuary will direct the service.

ERICA MONTGOMERY WINSTON

HAWAII — Funeral service for Erica Montgomery Winston, 32, will be Saturday, Feb. 12, at 1 p.m. at St. Mary Baptist Church in Lincoln with the Rev. E.B. Kelley officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Lincoln.

Ms. Winston died Feb. 6 at Evans U.S. Army Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colo. She was a lifelong resident of Lincoln and a graduate of Lincoln High School Class of 1990. She attended Talladega College and was in the U.S. Army.

She is survived by daughters, Courtney Winston, Danielle Winston and Autumn Winston of Augusta, Ga.; sisters, Linda Montgomery of Talladega, Tameka Montgomery of Lincoln and Annie Montgomery of Talladega; brothers, Patrick Montgomery of Huntsville, Jeffery Montgomery of Lincoln and Terry Montgomery of Tuscaloosa; mother, Eyvonne Montgomery of Lincoln; nephew, Jah’michael Montgomery of Lincoln.

The body may be viewed at the church for one hour before the service.

United States Army will serve as pallbearers.

Anniston Funeral Service will direct the service.

AGNES B. BEARDEN

BIRMINGHAM — Funeral service for Agnes B. Bearden, 80, will be Friday, Feb. 11, at 1 p.m. at Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel with the Rev. H.B. Carlton officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Bearden died Feb. 9 at her residence. She retired from Alabama Title after 30 years.

She is survived by daughter, Carolyn Sanders of Birmingham; brother, Hubert Bryant of Childersburg; sisters, Remona Tribble of Birmingham, Catherine Gardner of Milwaukee, Wisc., and Audrey Branson of Sylacauga; grandson, Terry D. Miller of Cropwell; great-grandchildren, Justin Miller, Meagan Miller and Brandon Champion; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the service.

MARGARET BREWSTER

WELLINGTON — Margaret Brewster, 85, died Feb. 10.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Anniston Funeral Service.

LOLA B. UPCHURCH DENTON

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Lola B. Upchurch Denton will be Saturday, Feb. 12, at 11 a.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home chapel in Sylacauga with the Rev. Cary Brown officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Childersburg.

Mrs. Denton died Feb. 9 at Coosa Valley Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents; thee sisters; and two brothers.

She is survived by her husband, Arthur Denton of Childersburg; daughter, Martha Denton Webb and husband Dean of Sylacauga; sisters, Ora Lee Hill and Maude Character of Lineville; grandsons, Keith W. Webb and wife Tammy L. Webb and Kevin D. Webb, all of Fayetteville; great-granddaughter, Abby M. Webb of Fayetteville; great-grandson, Hunter K. Webb of Fayetteville; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga will direct the service.

JAB GASTON

ANNISTON — Funeral service for Jab Gaston, 82, will be Saturday, Feb. 12, at 1 p.m. at Oconee Baptist Church in Anniston with Bishop Alex Allen officiating. Burial will be in Eden Hills Cemetery in Anniston.

Mr. Gaston died Feb. 4 at Stringfellow Hospital in Anniston. He was a lifelong resident Alabama and a member of Brunna Valley Baptist Church. He worked at the United Cerebral Palsy Center after retiring from the Anniston Foundry.

He is survived by sons, Paul Gaston and Dorsey Gaston of Cincinnati, Ohio, Marvin Gaston of Dayton, Ohio and Tyrone Gaston of Washington, D.C.; daughters, Eleanor Gaston and Annette Slaughter of Cincinnati, Ohio, Juanita Gaston of Tallahassee, Fla., and Marica Madden of Anniston; brother, Henry Gaston of Talladega; and 13 grandchildren.

The body may be viewed at the church for one hour before the service.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.

Anniston Funeral Service will direct the service.

MAXINE S. HAMMOCK

WHITES CHAPEL — Funeral service for Maxine S. Hammock, 77, will be Saturday, Feb. 12, at 11 a.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home Chapel in Leeds. Burial will be in Sulphur Springs Cemetery in Trussville.

Mrs. Hammock died Feb. 9.

She is survived by children, Carol Jean Welch, Wesley Leonard, Wanda Williams and Stephen Hammock; brother, Jack Stewart; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds will direct the service.

BILLY R. LACKEY

MUNFORD — Billy R. Lackey, 58, died Feb. 10 at his residence.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega.
