EDWARD CECIL LITTLE REAVES

CARTERSVILLE, Ga. — Edward Cecil Little Reaves, 60, of Acworth, Ga., died Saturday, Feb. 5, at his residence.

Mr. Reaves was born May 6, 1944, in Talladega to the late Leonard Daniel Reaves and Mildred Macy Hayes Reaves. He was retired from Crown Textile as a textile worker.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patricia Reaves; and one brother.

Mr. Reaves is survived by his three sons, Carl Reaves of Montgomery, Jim Reaves and Robert Reaves of Acworth, Ga.; two daughters, Sheila Cole of Cartersville, Ga., and Gloria Corson of Acworth, Ga.; five sisters; five brothers; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will have a private memorial service at a later date.

Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Cartersville, Ga., is in charge of the arrangements.

JOYE C. RICKS

SYLCAUGA — Funeral service for Joye C. Ricks, 69, of Sylacauga will be Tuesday, Feb. 8, at 2 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Tony McGrady officiating. Burial will be in Fayetteville Methodist Cemetery.

Mrs. Ricks was born Jan. 20, 1936, and died Saturday, Feb. 5, in Sylacauga.

She was preceded in death by her son, Paul Anthony Ricks.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, William Ricks of Sylacauga; three sons, William David Ricks and wife Fay Donald Ricks and Dale Ricks and wife Kendra, all of Sylacauga; two daughters, Pamela Grice and husband Greg of Sylacauga and Angie Gregory and husband Chris of Columbiana; four brothers, Harold David Collier, Kermit Gaston Collier and Alva Gene Collier, all of Sylacauga, and Donald Browning Collier of Kentucky; three grandchildren, Kyle Cotton, Anna Ricks and Anthony Ricks, all of Sylacauga, and Connie Vandiver of Childersburg; and three great-grandchildren, Pamela Weldon, Christopher Weldon and Jessie Vandiver, all of Childersburg.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Ivey, Harvey Ricks, Jimmy Butler, Andy Peters, Johnny Hubbard and Harold Morris.

Radney-Smith Funeral Home will direct the service.

MARGIE N. SMITH

ASHLAND — Funeral service for Margie N. Smith, 52, of Ashland will be Tuesday, Feb. 8, at 2 p.m. at Lystra Baptist Church with the Rev. Hillman Burt officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

Mrs. Smith died Feb. 5 at Clay County Hospital. She was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County, and had been employed by Russell Manufacturing, Plantation Patterns, and Wellborn Cabinets. She was a Baptist by faith. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Corina Sue Smith; and a brother, Billy Mattox.

She is survived by her husband, Dexter C. Smith of Ashland; three sons, James Clinton Smith of Ashland, Christopher Russell Smith of Cragford and Dexter Poodge Smith of Ashland; six sisters, Dottie Patterson of Alexander City, Sarah Mask of Cragford, Louneal Ingram of Oxford, Florence James of Montgomery, Jessie Miller of Cragford and Stella Willis of Millerville; three brothers, James Mattox of Alexander City, Charles Mattox of Daviston and Edward Mattox of Montgomery; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Nathan Miller, Michael Denney, Tommy Mattox, George Richardson, Greg Mask and Felton Mask. Honorary pallbearers will be Robbie Ingram and Randy Ingram.

Benefield Funeral Home of Lineville will direct the service.

CECIL E. STONE

CHILDERSBURG — Funeral service for Cecil E. Stone, 87, of Sylacauga, was Monday, Feb. 7, at Curtis and Son Childersburg Chapel with the Rev. Joe Stone officiating. Burial followed in Childersburg Cemetery.

Mrs. Stone died Feb. 5 at Sylacauga Health and Rehab.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Babala Denys of Baker, Fla.; one great-grandson, Joshua, of Baker, Fla.; two sisters, Inez Ellsion Treadwell of Vincent and Lois Ellison Murray of Talladega; three brothers, Onnie Ellison of Talladega, Lonnie Ellison of Childersburg and Jimmie Ellison of Bon Air; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Curtis and Son Funeral Chapel directed the service.

PEGGY JOYCE UMBERHANDT

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Peggy Joyce Umberhandt, 74, of Stewartville will be Wednesday, Feb. 9, at 11 a.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Donald Grice and Tommy Thornton officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga.

Ms. Umberhandt died Feb. 6 at Coosa Valley Medical Center. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church

She is survived by her brother, Earl Deloach of Pensacola, Fla.; two sisters, Ann Coleman of Weogufka and Sadie Sosebee of Crystal River, Fla.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Radney-Smith Funeral Home will direct the service.

ERICA MONTGOMERY WINSTON

ANNISTON — Erica Montgomery Winston, 31, of Hawaii, formerly of Lincoln, died Feb. 6 in Colorado. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Anniston Funeral Service.

OCIE STONE

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Ocie Stone, 80, was Wednesday, Feb. 9, at 2 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sylacauga with the Rev. Greg Webb officiating. Burial was in Smyrna Cemetery in Goodwater.

Mr. Stone died Feb. 5 at Baptist Medical Center Montclair in Birmingham. A constable in Talladega County for more than 30 years, he was always willing to help anyone and was loved by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Merrill Stone; a daughter, Judy Stone; and two sisters, Odell Stone and Audrey Dawson.

He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Robinson of Childersburg; a son, Timothy Stone of Sylacauga; three brothers, Titus Stone of Alexander City, Buddy Stone of Alexander City and Joe Stone of Albertville; a sister, Daisy Mahan of Alexander City; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Allen Stone, Conner Stone, Cameron Stone, David Roland, Fred Robinson, and Jason Robinson.

Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga directed the service.

AGNES B. BEARDEN

CENTER POINT — Agnes B. Bearden, 80, formerly of Sylacauga, died Feb. 9 at her residence.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel.

DOROTHY BENTLEY

CROPWELL — Funeral service for Dorothy Bentley, 70, will be Friday, Feb. 11, at 2 p.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home chapel in Pell City with the Rev. Jackie Bentley officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Bentley died Feb. 9.

She is survived by her husband, James A. Bentley; son, Jeffery Alton Bentley (Sharon); sisters, Mary Ann Tillery (Don) and Edna V. Roberts (Lamar); brothers, Joseph H. Vinson Jr. (Coretta) and Donald A. Vinson (Candy); and grandchild, Kayla Michelle Bentley.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

MARY ELLEN BISHOP

PELL CITY — Funeral service for Mary Ellen Bishop, 80, will be Friday, Feb. 11, at 2 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home chapel in Pell City with the Rev. Bill Huffaker officiating. Burial will be in Valley Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Bishop died Feb. 8 in Anniston. She was retired from St. Clair Regional Hospital where she worked as an L.P.N.

She is survived by her husband, Grady V. Bishop of Pell City; son, Stephen E. Bishop (Lynne) of Pell City; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Usrey Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

DAVID BROWNING JR.

TALLADEGA — Funeral service for David Browning Jr., 73, will be Friday, Feb. 11, at 2 p.m. at Clay County Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Larry Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Mr. Browning died Feb. 8 at his residence. He was a native of Clay County and had lived in Talladega for a number of years. Prior to his retirement, he was employed at Madix Manufacturing Company in Goodwater. He was a member of Chandler Springs Assembly of God Church.

He is survived by his wife, Willie Ruth Browning of Talladega; daughters, Carolyn Johnson of Lafayette, Susan Fowler and Martha Fowler of Talladega, Sandra Harris of Sylacauga and Judy Strickland and Donna Saffold of Alexander City; son, Jimmy Browning of Ashland; sisters, Faye Screws of Wadley and Ruby Mitchell of Ashland; brothers, Gene Browning of Wadley, Frank Browning of Talladega and Wayne Browning of Alexander City; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Grandsons and sons-in-law will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 4:30 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Clay County Funeral Home will direct the service.
