BILLY CARR
ASHLAND - Funeral service for Billy Carr, 62, will be Friday, Jan. 14, at 2 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church with the Rev. Ben Rosser officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Carr died Jan. 11 at Regional Medical Center. He was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County. He was co-owner and operator of Carr Logging, was a cattle farmer and treasurer of the High Pine Volunteer Fire Department. He had previously served on the Farm Bureau Board of Directors, was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and Liberty Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Lee Carr.
He is survived by his wife, Mary B. Carr of Ashland; his father, Oscar O. Carr Sr. of Ashland; daughters, Anna Medforth of Sylacauga and Janice Quarnstrom and son-in-law, Oscar Quarnstrom of Pelham; son, Mark Carr and daughter-in-law, Janet Carr of Ashland; brothers, Oscar O. Carr Jr. of Ashland, Rodger O. Carr and Rickey H. Carr of Millerville; and seven grandchildren, Lauren and Brett Medforth, Russell, Heather and Heath Carr and Matthew and Madison Quarnstrom.
Pallbearers will be Charles Jordan, Earl McKay, Wendell Wolfe, Robert Giddens, J.D. Davidson, Ronald Mattox, John Ponder, Milton Woodruff and Terry Hubbard.
Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Liberty Baptist Church and friends.
The family will receive friends Thursday at the church beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The body may be viewed at the church for one hour before the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Liberty Baptist Church Building Fund, 1114 Rainbow Drive, Ashland, Ala., 36251.

BETTY LEE COOK
RIVERSIDE - Funeral service for Betty Lee (Rich) Cook, 73, will be Friday, Jan. 14, at 11 a.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home chapel in Leeds with the Rev. Michael Pepple officiating. Burial will be in Sulphur Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Cook died Jan. 10 at her residence. She was born May 10, 1931. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Frederick Cook Sr. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and was loved by many friends.
She is survived by daughter, Terri Brumage of California; sons, Louis F. Cook Jr. of Pensacola, Fla., and Donual Cook of Markeeta; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and brothers, Earl Rich of Odenville and Bobby Rich of Leeds.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m.

GEORGE GARY GARDNER
CHILDERSBURG - Funeral service for George Gary Gardner will be Friday, Jan. 14, at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Methodist A.M.E. Church in Childersburg with the Rev. Pearson McGee officiating. Burial will be in Lily Rhoden Cemetery.
Mr. Gardner died Jan. 8.
He is survived by his mother, Clara Gardner of Childersburg; sister, Peggie Gardner of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and brothers, Ronald and Dennis Gardner of Brooklyn, N.Y.
Pallbearers and flowerbearers will be friends of the family.
The family will receive friends Thursday from noon until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

SARA EDMUNDS MUNGALL
DALTON, Ga. - Graveside service for Sara Edmunds Mungall, 87, will be Friday, Jan. 14, at 1 p.m. in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery
with the Rev. Guy Griffith officiating.
Mrs. Mungall died Jan. 12 at her residence. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Mungall; sister, Mary Edmunds; and brothers, Fester Edmunds and Calvin Edmunds. She was raised in Pell City and moved to the Sylacauga area in the late 1930’s. She had been a resident of Dalton, Ga., since 1963. She was a former member of First Presbyterian Church of Sylacauga and was a current member of First Presbyterian Church of Dalton, Ga.
She is survived by daughters, Marjorie Haigler of Dalton, Ga., and Sally Cross and husband Sonny of Dalton, Ga.; brother, Larry Edmunds of Sylacauga; four grandchildren, John Cross and wife Jennifer, Janet Ellis and husband Jeff, Holly Young and husband Shane and John Haigler; and four great-grandchildren, Spencer Cross, Madison Ellis, Ansley Ellis and Jack Young.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or First Presbyterian Church Building Fund in Dalton, Ga.

LEEDS - Funeral service for C.D. Nichols, 63, will be Thursday, Jan. 13, at 2 p.m. at Park Avenue Baptist Church in Moody. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery
in Leeds.
Mr. Nichols died Jan. 11. He was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Nichols.
He is survived by his wife, Annie Nichols; daughters, Denise Marcrum, Sandra Booth and Stacy Dycus; five grandchildren; brothers, Junior, Dale, Arlis, Edward, Vernon and Randy Nichols and James and Jerry Herring; sisters, EveryRe Rich, Mavis Batson and Linda Kay Wallace; and several nieces and nephews.

MARYLENE SHANEYFELT
LEEDS - Funeral service for Marylene Shaneyfelt, 74, will be Friday, Jan. 14, at 2 p.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home chapel in Leeds. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Shaneyfelt died Jan. 11. She was preceded in death by her parents, Shelly and Nervie Isabell; and brothers, J.W. (Dub) Isabell and Hulon Isabell.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ralph Shaneyfelt of Leeds; daughters, Cathy Maddox of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Gwen Reid of Leeds and Tamara Lint of Hoover; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; brother, Sted Isabell of Tocoa, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.

MARY JOHN SPRAYBERRY
LINEVILLE - Funeral service for Mary John Sprayberry, 86, will be Friday, Jan. 14, at 11 a.m. at Benefield Funeral Home chapel in Ashland with the Rev. Doug Owens and the Rev. Marc Kytan officiating. Burial will be in Clay County Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Sprayberry died Jan 11 at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham. She was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County, had been employed by Higgins Manufacturing Company for 18 years, was a homemaker and a member of Concord Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sampson "Samp" Sprayberry.
She is survived by son, Robert Sprayberry of Titus; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Butch Sprayberry, Scott Sprayberry, Max Sprayberry, Aaron Sprayberry, Steven Sprayberry and Joseph Holley.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to County Volunteer Rescue Squad.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 10 until 11 a.m.

HARVEY LEWIS VANSCOY
CHILDERSBURG - Harvey Lewis Vanscoy, 78, died Jan. 11 in Sylacauga.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 45.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Vanscoy of Childersburg; sons, Harvey Vanscoy of Florida and Louis Vanscoy of Childersburg; daughter, Penny Sajakni of Childersburg; brothers, Walter Vanscoy of Florida and Kenny Vanscoy of Connecticut.
The family will receive friends Friday, Jan. 14, from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

CAROL ANN ZUSPAN
SPRINGVILLE - Funeral service for Carol Ann Zuspan, 58, will be Friday, Jan. 14, at 10 a.m. at Usrey Funeral Home in Pell City with Brother John Faulkner and Brother Brad Moseley officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Zuspan died Jan. 11 in Birmingham. She was a native of Ohio and spent the past 10 years in Alabama. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Springville, was a grandmother of six and a mother of two.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Zuspan; sons, Douglas Zuspan (Peggy) and David Zuspan (Jennifer); six grandchildren, Dylan, Kolby, Stevie Jo, Savannah, Katlyn and River Zuspan; one sister; and one brother.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Douglas Zuspan, David Zuspan, Stanley Morris, Randall Palmer, Joe Eastis and Jim Baker.
