EVELINA Jones CHATMAN
TALLADEGA - Funeral service for Evelina "Speakie" Jones Chatman, 86, of No. 13 Russell Drive, will be Thursday, Jan. 13, at 2 p.m. at Kelly Springs Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. L.L. Jacobs officiating. Burial will be in Kelly Springs Memorial Garden.
Mrs. Chatman died Jan. 6 at 2471 Curry Station Road in Munford. She was preceded in death by daughters, Sarah Lou Chatman Bagley and Mary Alice Chatman McLeod; and her parents, Hugh Jones and Mattie Lou Combs English. She was a former member of Kelly Springs Missionary Baptist Church and was presently a member of The Ark of Safety Church.
She is survived by her husband, M.C. Chatman of Talladega; daughters, Louella Lewis, Everlina Gooden and Evangelist Anna Chatman of Munford; adopted daughter, Mary Smoot of Talladega; sons, Melvin Chatman of Talladega and Henry Chatman of Oxford; 32 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed at the church for one hour before the service.
Family hour will be held Wednesday from 6 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Terry’s Metropolitan Mortuary will direct the service.
Ernest C. Atchley
SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Ernest C. Atchley, 81, of Sylacauga, will be Wednesday, Jan. 12, at 2 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Dale Abrams officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Springs Cemetery
in Hanover.
Mr. Atchley died Jan. 11 at Coosa Valley Baptist Medical Center. A veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Opal Collins Atchley; a daughter, Betty Diane Britt; and a son, Bruce Wade Atchley.
He is survived by three sons, Billy Atchley of Sylacauga, Bobby Atchley and wife Sheri of Pell City and Byron Atchley of Brent; three daughters, Bonnie Atchley of Sylacauga, Bennie Vincent and husband Jimmy Payton of Clanton and Belinda Davis and husband Keith of Anniston; one brother, Clifford Atchley of Sylacauga; 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

WILLIAM A. BRANNOCK
ASHLAND — Funeral service for William A. (Billy) Brannock, 61, will be Thursday, Jan. 13, at 11 a.m. at Clay County Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. David Holcombe and the Rev. Dennis Gisel officiating. Burial will be in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Brannock died Jan. 10 at his residence. He was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County. He had been employed by Foster’s Upholstery Shop and was a member of Shirey’s Mill Assembly of God Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Floyd and Lacy S. Brannock; and a brother, Therrell Brannock.
He is survived by a brother, James Brannock of Cleveland, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Davey Holcombe, Sam Morrow, Doug Holcombe, Dale Holcombe, John Williams, Joey Brannock, Jamie Brannock and Dewayne Gunter.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:30 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

ELMA M. CALFEE
SYLACAUGA - Funeral service for Elma M. Calfee, 81, was Saturday, Jan. 8, at 2 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home chapel in Sylacauga with Brother Walter Morris and Brother Ken Light officiating. Burial was in Unity Presbyterian Cemetery
in Weogufka.
Mrs. Calfee died Jan. 6 at Coosa Valley Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.R. "Buck" Calfee; daughter, Cynthia Terrell Calfee; granddaughter, Jamie Diane; sisters, Dassie Collins, Pearl Gaither, Louise Ellison, Lorene Shurette and Glenda Sims; and brothers, Marion McGrady and T.S. McGrady. She was a faithful member of The Kingdom Hall.
She is survived by sons, Michael L. Calfee of Sylacauga, Kenneth E. Calfee of Carson, Calif., and Randy L. Calfee of Sylacauga; sisters, Evelyne Taylor of Sylacauga and Sue Shaw of Dothan; brothers, Denson McGrady of Stewartville, Elton McGrady of Stewartville and Wayne McGrady of Pensacola, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Grandchildren served as pallbearers.

SYLACAUGA - Funeral service for Stanley Jewel Carpenter, 86, will be Wednesday, Jan. 12, at 1 p.m. at Curtis and Son Funeral Home North chapel with the Rev. Jerry Skipworth officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery.
Mr. Carpenter died Jan. 10 in Sylacauga. He was retired from Dunnam Lumber Company.
He is survived by sons, James Carpenter and wife Sandra of Sylacauga and Charles Carpenter of Sylacauga; special friend, Nancy Davis of Sylacauga; grandchildren, James Carpenter Jr., Angie Hughes, Matt Carpenter, Shelia Hatchett, Scott Carpenter, Eddie Carpenter and Tammy Machen; great-grandchildren, Sha Thornton, Cody Carpenter, Hayden Carpenter, Justin Carpenter, Brandon Carpenter, Tyler Carpenter and Dillon Carpenter, all of Sylacauga, Cody Carpenter of Mississippi, Misty Spivey of Childersburg and Blaine Green of Fayetteville; and great-great-grandchild, Connor Spivey of Childersburg.
Pallbearers will be Joe Hatchett, Bryan Hughes, Byron Hughes, Josh Thornton, Jay Anderson and Robby McKemie.

ANNISTON — Rosa M. Jones, 74, of Hempstead, N.Y., died Sunday, Jan. 9, at her residence.

ASHLAND — Funeral service for George Morris, 50, of Naples, Fla., will be Thursday, Jan. 13, at 1 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home chapel in Ashland with Steven Young officiating. Burial will follow in Clay County Memory Gardens.
Mr. Morris died Saturday, Jan. 8, at North Collier Hospital in Naples. A native of Clay County, he graduated from Clay County High School and was a former resident of Brevard, N.C. He worked in cable TV, construction, and as a Lineville police officer after graduating from the Jacksonville Police Academy. Most recently, he worked for the Mastec Fiber Communications Company in Naples. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ashland. He was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Nola Morris.
He is survived by a daughter, Jodi Rector of Etowah, N.C.; a son, Nick Morris of Brevard; one sister, Glenda Young of Ashland; his girlfriend, one niece and one nephew.
Pallbearers will be Mike Colburn, Jimmy Aldridge, Brad Marcum, Mike Whitmire, Dewey Parsons, Don Parsons, Stan Smith and Jimmy Smith.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

PELL CITY — Graveside service for Tammy Marie Searcy, 39, will be Wednesday, Jan. 12, at 2 p.m. in St. Clair Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Searcy died Jan. 9. She was employed by Beverly Healthcare and was preceded in death by her husband, James T. Searcy; and a stepson, James Searcy Jr.
She is survived by sons, Stephen Smith and Brandon Smith of Moody; her parents, Joe E. and Mary Curtis Thacker of Duck Springs; sisters, Marilyn Lawley of Sand Valley, Patty Wilson of Gadsden and JoAnn Thacker of Duck Springs; and brothers, Michael T. Thacker of Duck Springs and Jeffrey E. Thacker of Banger, Pa.

WALTER C. TRIMBLE
ALEXANDER CITY — Graveside services for Walter Trimble, 86, will be held Friday, Jan. 14, at 11 a.m. at Hillview Memorial Park, with the Rev. Mike Hubbart officiating.
Mr. Trimble died Jan. 11 at his home in Wetumpka. He was preceded in death by his wife, Luciel Trimble; two sons, George and Larry Trimble; a daughter, Susianne Smith; and seven brothers and sisters.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda Montgomery of Birmingham and Rosa Barnes of Wetumpka; two sisters, Ann Adcox and Francis Trimble, both of Camphill; three grandchildren, Neal and Glen Smith of Goodwater and Pace Montgomery of Birmingham.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
