CLAUDIE GRAY
DADEVILLE - Funeral service for Claudie Gray, 77, will be Saturday, Dec. 11, at 2 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. George Pulliam officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Gray died Dec. 4 at Bethany House Faith Hospice Center of Auburn.
She is survived by daughters, Delois Pogue and Barbara Pearson of Dadeville; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

MARGARET DAVIS GUNTER
WEBB - Memorial service for Margaret Davis Gunter, 92, formerly of 3820 17th Avenue, Columbus, will be at a later date in Vincent.
Mrs. Gunter died Dec. 9 at the home of her niece in Webb. She was born Feb. 10, 1912 in Birmingham, the first child of Laura Davis and Charles Davis. She attended schools in Vincent, followed by Montevallo College in Montevallo and Auburn University, receiving degrees at each. She was quite an Auburn fan. She taught school in Lanett, Andalusia, and then at Jordan High School, Columbus, Ga., from 1941 to 1972. Many of her students won awards due in part to her encouragement and excellent teaching. She was state star teacher one year and revered by many. She was a member of Sherwood Methodist Church of Columbus for many years. Many of her nieces and nephews considered Aunt Margaret as their second mother, knowing she was always there with a loving touch and a word of encouragement. In addition, she will be missed by many friends.
She is survived by sister, Jayne Cranford of Vincent; nine nieces; six nephews; one sister-in-law; and 25 great-nieces and great-nephews. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Gideon’s International, P.O. Box 5554, Dothan, Ala., 36302.

GRACE B. HANNAH
TALLADEGA - Graveside service for Grace B. Hannah will be Friday, Dec. 10, at 3 p.m. in Pine Hill Mausoleum with James Randall officiating.
Mrs. Hannah died Dec. 8 at her residence. She was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega County and was retired from Kimberly Clark. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer T. "Bill" Hannah.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the American Heart Foundation, Talladega Public Library or the Alzheimer’s Association.

LYDIA SHARIA HODNETT
LINEVILLE - Funeral service for Lydia Sharia Hodnett, 80, will be Saturday, Dec. 11, at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. David Holcombe and the Rev. L.C. Harris officiating. Burial will be in McCollum Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Hodnett died Dec. 8 at Lineville Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was a native of Cullman County, was a former resident of Atlanta, Ga., for 40 years and moved back to Clay County in 1980. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
She is survived by daughter, Faye Harkins of Lineville; son, Lonnie Ray Hodnett of Daphne; sisters, Vivian Slaton of Joppa and Audrey Bailey of Burton, Mich.; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearerd will be the staff of Lineville Health and Rehabilitation Center.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:30 until 8 p.m. Friday and until service time Saturday.

SYLACAUGA - Shirley F. Jenkins, 61, died Dec. 8 at Coosa Valley BMC.

HOLLY HUDSON JOHNSON
DELTA - Funeral service for Holly Hudson Johnson, 50, will be Saturday, Dec. 11, at 3 p.m. at Bellview Baptist Church with Sonny McCollum, Ray Milstead and Randy King officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson died Dec. 8 at her residence. She was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County, was a waitress at the Hub Restaurant for more than 26 years and was a graduate of Lineville High School Class of 1972. She was a member of member of Bellview Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Jimmy Hudson.
She is survived by her husband, John A. Johnson of Delta; son, J Johnson of Lineville; her mother, Nell "Granny" Green of Lineville; sisters, Hope Davidson of Wedowee, Donna Hudson of Lineville and Dana Hudson of Charlotte, N.C.; special sister, Kathy Rice of Wedowee; brother, Mac Hudson of Melbourne, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Wade Davidson, Brandon Davidson, J Johnson, Wayne Watts, Clay Watts, Dennis Gortney and Matthew Hudson.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:30 until 8 p.m. Friday and until service time Saturday.

WILLIAM JEFFERSON MAY SR.
TALLADEGA - Funeral service for William Jefferson May Sr., 79, will be Saturday, Dec. 11, at 10 a.m. at Usrey Funeral Home chapel in Talladega with the Rev. Ed Talley and the Rev. Randall Ingram officiating. Burial will be in Midway Memory Gardens.
Mr. May died Dec. 9 at Bill Nichol’s Veterans Home. He was a native of Calhoun County, Miss., lived in Talladega since 1970 and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He was retired from the U.S. Army with 20 years of service and was a retired tree farmer. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 261 in Talladega.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Maebelle May of Talladega; daughters, Christine McKinney and Linda Chapel of Ft. Worth, Texas and Judy Cosby of Springtown, Texas; sons, Robert Wayne May of Blooming Grove, Texas, and Terry May and Billy May of Talladega; sisters, Catherine Dill, Mary Ellen Byrd and Ophelia Young of West Point, Miss.; brothers, Usbes P. May Jr., James Adrian May and Harvey Eugene May of West Point, Miss., and Cecil Allen May of Macon, Ga.; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

in Munford.
Mrs. Owens died Dec. 9. She was a member of Hueytown First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by daughter, Marsha Owens Smithers of Hueytown; sons, George Michael Owens of Hueytown and Christopher Alan Owens of Norton, Va.; sisters, Mary R. Rodgers of Decatur, Ga., Lila R. Turner of Munford and Barbara R. Thomas of Ohatchee; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

ANNISTON - Funeral service for Tim Smith, 58, will be Friday, Dec. 10, at 2 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Vinson Cemetery
in Eastaboga.
Mr. Smith died Dec. 8 at Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Anniston and was employed by Fabarc Steel.
He is survived by his wife, Mandy Smith of Anniston; daughter, Tammy Annette Smith of Sylacauga; step-daughters, Gail Parsons of Vincent and Rita Baird of Pearl, Miss.; stepson, Bubba McDonald of Sylacauga; brother, Edward Smith of Anniston; sisters, Helen Smith of Eastaboga, Margarett Shaw of Anniston, Mary Dutton of Oxford, Patsy Beckman of Milton, Fla., and Margie Mize of Michigan; two grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Family friends will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Staples died Dec. 8. He was a retired member of Iron Workers Local 92.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Staples; sons, Roger Staples, Chris Staples and Tony Staples (Tiffany); sisters, Peggy Turner and Benny Walker; brothers, Johnny Staples, Raymond Staples and Charles Staples; grandchildren, Ethan, Hayden, Griffin and Brett; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Stephens died Dec. 6 at Regional Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Stephens; and sons, Clellon and James Stephens.
She is survived by sons, Clifford Stephens and Walter Stephens of Heflin; daughters, Claudie Parker of Eastaboga, Christine Smith of Birmingham, Agnes Akles of Delta, Joyce Stephens of Heflin, Minnie Dunn of Detroit, Mich., and Irene Lindsey of East Point; sisters, Lela Parker of Eastaboga and Pauline Wilson of Anniston; brothers, General Johnson of Indianapolis, Ind., and the Rev. Yulas Johnson of Heflin; 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mrs. White died Dec. 8 in Ashville.
She is survived by her husband, Vernon White of Ashville; her parents, George and Margaret Layton of Odenville; sister, Sharon L. Mashburn (J.C.) of Odenville; brothers, Larry Layton (Ora Mae) of Odenville, Denny Layton (Karen Ann) of Ashville and Dobber Layton (Debbie) of Moody; special friend, Brenda Jones; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Korean War veteran.
