DONNA JEAN HULETT
GOODWATER - Funeral service for Donna Jean Hulett, 72, will be Thursday, Dec. 2, at 3 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home chapel in Sylacauga.
Mrs. Hulett died Nov. 30 at Baptist Medical Center Montclair. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and a friend to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Blaine N. Howcroft; and her brothers, Bill Roberts and Richard Roberts.
She is survived by her husband, Charles E. Hulett of Goodwater; sons, Ernest Blaine Howcroft and wife Marti of Buhl, Idaho, Doyle Howcroft and wife Kelly of Weogufka, Clinton R. Howcroft and wife Valerie of Vernal, Utah, Guy Matthew Howcroft of Twin Falls, Idaho, Blake Howcroft and wife Karen of Fairview, Utah, David Hulett and wife Martha of Goodwater, Charles R. Hulett and wife Rocelli of Virginia Beach, Va.; daughters, Linda Holm and husband Bob of Sandy, Utah, Ginger Warnick and husband Mark of Pleasant Grove, Utah and Tammy Howze and husband Ben of New Braunfels, Texas; sisters, Carol Satterfield and husband Ray of Salt Lake City, Utah and Gwen Birkes and husband John of Ivins, Utah; brothers, Bud Roberts of Salt Lake City, Utah and Michael Roberts of Salt Lake City, Utah; 41 grandchildren; and 54 great-grandchildren.
The family requests no flowers but memorial contributions may be made to Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 706 W. Clay St., Sylacauga, Ala.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 1 until 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

FAYETTEVILLE - Funeral service for James "Jack" Baker, 61, will be Thursday, Dec. 2, at 11 a.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home chapel in Sylacauga with the Rev. Wayne McDaniel officiating. Burial will be in Fayetteville Methodist Cemetery
in Fayetteville.
Mr. Baker died Nov. 30 at Baptist Medical Center Montclair.
He is survived by his wife, Pearlie Baker of Fayetteville; son, David R. Brewer of Macon, Ga.; daughters, Beverly Green of Sylacauga and Sandra Moore of Fayetteville; sister, Ann Burks of Fayetteville; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Tim Burks, Charles Burks, David Brewer, Sandy Green, Chris Cleveland and Gabe Stewart.
Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga will direct the service.
BRIAN SCOTT MITCHELL
LEEDS - Funeral service for Brian Scott Mitchell, 36, will be Friday, Dec. 3, at 11 a.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home chapel in Leeds. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Mitchell died Dec. 1. He graduated from Lyman Ward military Academy.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Mitchell; daughter, Rebecca Strange; his mother, Gloria Fox; brothers, Neal Mitchell and Bobby Mitchell; sisters, Michelle Hayes, Kim Pennington and Candy Garner; and grandmother, Geraldine Muncher.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

GEORGE SHIREY SR.
TALLADEGA - Funeral service for George "Bud" Shirey Sr., 69, will be Thursday, Dec. 2, at 2 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home chapel in Ashland with the Rev. Brian Camp officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Poplar Springs Cemetery.
Mr. Shirey died Nov. 30 at Clay County Hospital. He was a native of Clay County and had lived most of his life in Talladega County. He had been a truck driver and retired from Talladega County Road Department. He was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Smith; one brother, Troy Shirey; and his parents, Leonard and Grace Hendon Shirey.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline Shirey of Talladega; daughters, Norma McGrady, Barbara Edmondson, Mary Warren and Wanda Morrison of Talladega County; son, George Shirey of Talladega; sisters, Katherine Burkhalter of Ashland and Debra Evans of Coleta Valley; brothers, Buck Shirey and Jack Shirey of Talladega; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Jesse Shirey, Donny Shirey, Alvin Shirey, Roger Shirey, Ricky Shirey and Bobby Hogan.
Honorary pallbearer will be Jackie Cooper.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home until service time.

LOVENTRICE NIX AVERETTE
SYLACAUGA - Funeral service for Loventrice (Lovent) Nix Averette will be Saturday, Dec. 4, at 11 a.m. at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Bobby L. Harris officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Averette died Nov. 30 at Coosa Valley BMC. She was a native of Talladega County and a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She was a member of the Sunbeams, Young Adult Choir, Sunday school and Young Progress Women.
She is survived by her husband, Robert V. Averette Sr. of Sylacauga; sons, Derrick Averette, Jeremiah Averette of Sylacauga, Robert (Katina) Averette Jr. of Marietta, Ga.; mother, Doris Nix and father, Amos Nix Jr., both of Sylacauga; grandmother, Annie Ervin of Sylacauga; sisters, Ella (Johnny) Spencer of Tuscaloosa, Cassandra Williams of Sylacauga, Loretta (Clifton) Cook and Eartha (Garnett) Godfrey, all of Alpine, Myra (Bernard) Bowden of Nashville, Tenn.; brothers, Gaston (Linda) Nix of Alexander City, Dexter (Faye) Nix of Alpine and Eddie (Tanya) Jackson of Sylacauga; granddaughter, Jamiah McGhee; special niece, Angel Averette; and a devoted care giver, Thelma Nunn.

HARPERSVILLE - Funeral service for Lorenzo Dates, 60, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Harpersville with the Rev. Clarence C. Carter officiating. Burial will be in Harpersville Cemetery.
Mr. Dates died Nov. 30 at his residence. He was a former member of Coosa Valley Baptist Church and sang bass with the male chorus. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
He is survived by his children, Deborah Dates of Columbus, Ga., Norris Dates of Tuskegee, Clark Dates of Stafford, Va., Sondra Dates of Birmingham, Shannon Dates of Vincent, Sedric Pearson of Gadsden and Walter Garner of Harpersville; brothers, Melvin Dates of Heflin, Perry Dates of Pell City, Martin Dates of Harpersville, Johnny Dates of Maryland and Fred Dates of Birmingham; sisters, Mary Sue Carter of Vincent, Cynthia Dates of New York and Virginia Dates of Wisconsin; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.
Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.

TALLADEGA - Funeral service for Archie "Hoogie" Lynch Jr., 79, of 121 Riddle Lane, will be Saturday, Dec. 4, at 2 p.m. at Lane Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. A.C. Gilbert officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Lynch died Nov. 27 at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church (Stockdale) and was preceded in death by his parents, Archie Lynch Sr. and Mary Lou Levitt Lynch; brothers, Jacks Lynch, Willie Lynch, Will Henry Lynch, Lawrence Lynch and Man Lynch; sisters, Eunice Dye and Elizabeth Whitson. He was employed by Anniston Foundry and retired from Wehadkee Yarn Mills after 14 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine Whitson Lynch of Talladega; daughters, Willie Nell Whitson of Chicago, Ill., Ida M. Swain, Mary A. Cochran, Syble Walker, Jessie M. Rowland, Juanita Lynch and Marie McKenzie, all of Talladega; sons, Kenneth Jackson of Flint, Mich., Alphonso Stockdale of Lincoln, William Lynch and Hugh Gene Lynch of Talladega; sister, Lela Whitson of Talladega; 26 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed at the church for one hour before the service.
Pallbearers will be Cliff Chatman, Stevie Whitson, David Lynch, Detrick Lynch, Rodney Borden and Demetris Lynch.

SONYA DENISE PORTER
SYLACAUGA - Funeral service for Sonya Denise Porter will be Saturday, Dec. 4, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Minister Nina Townsend officiating. Burial will be in Sylacauga Cemetery.
Ms. Porter died Nov. 27 at University Hospital in Birmingham. She was a native of Talladega County and was preceded in death by her mother, Virgie McLemore.
She is survived by daughter, Jessica McLemore of Sylacauga; sons, Donald McLemore and Michael McLemore of Sylacauga; father, Edward McLemore of Sylacauga; sisters, Valarie Tuck, Monica McLemore and Camelia McLemore of Sylacauga; and grandparents, the Rev. Eurastis and Annie Gofrey of Sylacauga.
Pallbearers will be Terry Fuller, Charles Godfrey, Julius Taylor, Kenneth Taylor, Dylan Fuller and Horace Godfrey.

EDWARD BALL
BIRMINGHAM - Funeral service for Edward Ball, 64, of 1320-33rd St. N., will be Saturday, Dec. 4, at 1 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerome Lawson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Ball died Nov. 28 at University Hospital in Birmingham. He was preceded in death by his father, Cleveland Ball; a sister, Irma Perkins; three brothers, Leon Pointer, Elvin Ball and Clarence Ball. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and was a graduate of Talladega County Training School. He was employed by Jefferson Foundry and was a roofer.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Hill Ball of Atlanta, Ga.; his mother, Mary Jane Pointer Ball of Alpine; sister, Clevie Frazier of Birmingham; and brothers, Ponce Ball of Birmingham, Alfonzia Ball of Los Angeles, Calif., and Thomas Ball of Alpine.
The body may be viewed at the church for one hour before the service.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
