JENNIE RUTH THOMAS
DYERSBURG, Tenn. - Funeral service for Jennie Ruth Thomas, 53, of 180 Oakwood Drive, formerly of Ragland, will be Sunday, Nov. 21, at noon at Bibleway Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ in Ragland with Elder Mitchell Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Morning Star Cemetery
in Ragland.
Mrs. Thomas died Nov. 17 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. She was a former member of Bibleway Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ and was formerly employed at Beverly Healthcare Ingram. She was a graduate of Ragland High School and was preceded in death by her parents, Milford Looney and Annie Whisenant Looney; sister, Rose Marie Looney; and brother, Milford Looney Jr.
She is survived by sons, Sean Christopher Thomas, Patrick Thomas and Jason Thomas of Ragland, Michael Aaron Thomas of Colorado Springs, Colo., and William Thomas and Sargent Thomas of Gadsden; sisters, Doris Looney, Ruby Forman and Mary Collins of Ragland, Fanny Louise Gauldin of Dyersburg, Tenn., Gertrude Looney of Ashland and Vanessa Fomby of Lansing, Mich.; brothers, Virgil Looney Sr. of Ragland and Johnny Andrew Looney of Altoona; and five grandchildren.
The body may be viewed at the church for one hour before the service.
Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.
Terry’s Metropolitan Mortuary will direct the service.

PELL CITY - Funeral service for Hetty Colburn Bankston, 89, will be Saturday, Nov. 20, at 11 a.m. at Usrey Funeral Home in Pell City with the Rev. Ray Speakman officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Baptist Cemetery.
Mrs. Bankston died Nov. 18. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Bankston; son, Wayne Williams; and daughter, Mary Lela Carroll.
She is survived by son, Donald Williams of Ragland; daughters, Norma McReath of Birmingham and Polly Freedale of Chattanooga, Tenn.; 18 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
Usrey Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

CASSIE C. HICKS
TALLADEGA - Funeral service for Cassie C. Hicks, 91, will be Sunday, Nov. 21, at 1 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home chapel in Talladega with the Rev. Mike Jones officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park.
Mrs. Hicks died Nov. 18 at Baptist Medical Center Montclair. She was a native of Clay County and lived most of her life in Talladega. She was a charter member of Northside Baptist Church and retired from Palm Beach after 30+ years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband, C.N. Hicks Sr.; son, Charles N. Hicks Jr.; and daughter, Muyon H. Thomas.
She is survived by daughter, Margaret H. McElroy of Montgomery; brother, W.L. Character of Oxford; sister, Eula Daniel of Bessemer; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Northside Baptist Church.
Great-grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

MILWAUKEE, Wisc. - Ernest L. Horne, formerly of Sycamore, died Nov. 19 at his residence in Milwaukee.
Burial will be Tuesday, Nov. 23, in Milwaukee, Wisc.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; son, Scott of Lacross, Wisc.; and daughter, Beth of Milwaukee.

SYLACAUGA - Funeral service for Bennie L. McNeal, 78, will be Monday, Nov. 22, at 2 p.m. at Armour’s Memorial Funeral Home chapel in Alexander City with the Rev. J.O. Blackmon officiating. Burial will be in Armour’s Memorial Gardens.
Mr. McNeal died Nov. 16 at Adams Nursing Home. He was born Sept. 26, 1926 in Tallapoosa County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert McNeal and Mary Lee Mitchell McNeal.
He is survived by daughter, Eula Wyckoff of Alexander City; sons, John Wayne McNeal and Bennie Frank McNeal of Milwaukee, Wisc.; sisters, Betty Smith of Alexander City, LaVera Kelly of Milwaukee, Wisc., and Clara McNeal and Barbara Williams of Grand Rapids, Mich.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.

ALEXANDER CITY - Funeral service for Woodrow Norris Sr., 85, will be Saturday, Nov. 20, at noon at Early Rose Baptist Church in Alexander City with the Rev. Berlyn Norris officiating. Burial will be in Armour’s Memorial Gardens in Alexander City.
Mr. Norris died Nov. 16 in Montgomery. He was born Feb. 9, 1919 in Tallapoosa County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Jane Holley and Walter L. Norris.
He is survived by his wife, Lela B. Norris of Alexander City; daughters, Earnestine Billups of Alexander City, Mary Janice Dickerson of Los Angeles, Calif., Becky Lawson of Alexander City, Cassandra Edwards of Alexander City, Juanita Norris of Alexander City, Antisha Leonard of Alexander City and Geraldine Harvey of Alexander City; sons, Edward Norris of Alexander City, Frederick Norris of Alexander City, the Rev. Jerome Norris of Opelika, Woodrow Norris Jr. of Jonesboro, Ga., and Terry Lynn Norris of Alexander City; sister, Laura Livingston of Harvey, Ill.; brother, Alton Norris of Birmingham; 42 grandchildren; and a host of great and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

ATHENS, Ga. - Funeral service for Sarah Elizabeth Ray Payne, 86, will be Sunday, Nov. 21, at 2 p.m. at Curtis and Son Funeral Home North chapel with the Rev. Mary Seal officiating. Burial will be in Marble City Cemetery.
Mrs. Payne died Nov. 19 at Athens Regional Medical Center. She was preceded in death by three husbands, Ralph Ray, Carl Munroe and W.K. Payne; daughter, Ann Ray Dognibene; and parents, Charles and Willie King. She was a member of Oak Grove Methodist Church.
She is survived by sons, Jack Ray of Sylacauga and Vernon Ray of Athens, Ga.; stepdaughter, Carla Munroe Winslett of Sylacauga; sister, Martha Vaughn of Alexander City; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
