SYLACAUGA — Annie Johnson, 61, died Saturday, Aug. 7, at Coosa Valley Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Community Funeral Home.

HARPERSVILLE — Dorothy Kelly, 61, died Saturday, Aug. 7, at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Community Funeral Home.

LARRY HOYT SPARKS

ASHLAND — Memorial service for Larry Hoyt Sparks, 56, will be Monday, Aug. 9, at 11 a.m. at Clay County funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Zenus Windsor officiating.

Mr. Sparks died Saturday, Aug. 7, at his residence.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County. He was retired from Alabama Power Company after 36 years and was a 1st sergeant with the Alabama National Guard for 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Jeanette Sparks, and his father, Theron Hoyt Sparks.

He is survived by his wife, Debrah Sparks; one daughter, Donna S. Moore of Ashland; three sons, Jeffrey Neil Sparks, Timothy Larry Sparks and Shane Bohannan; one grandson; and one granddaughter.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Clay County.

The family will receive friends Monday beginning at 9 a.m. at Clay County Funeral Home.

Clay County Funeral Home will direct the service.

ANNIE M. HORTON

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Annie M. Horton, 97, will be Tuesday, Aug. 10, at 11 a.m. at Curtis and Son Funeral Home North chapel with the Rev. Milton Morris and the Rev. Bill Lutz officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Horton died Aug. 7 at Coosa Valley BMC. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Bobbie McDaniel; a son, William Hamilton; sisters, Molly Headley and Myrtle Cleckley; and brothers, Lee Cleckley, Earnest Cleckley, Mason Cleckley, Willie Cleckley and Albert Cleckley.

She is survived by daughters, Coleene Combs of Sylacauga, Ruby Chisolm of Birmingham, Lois Rhodes of Sylacauga and Opal Maddox of Prattville; sons, Junior Hamilton of Sylacauga, Earl Hamilton of Childersburg and Edward Hamilton of Sylacauga; sister, Minnie Friday of Billingsley; brothers, Jim Cleckley of Clanton, Robert Cleckley of Billingsley and William Cleckley of Clanton; 39 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be David Friday, Wade Hamilton, Eric Owens, Bill Hosey, David Owens and Jeremy Rhodes.

Honorary pallbearers will be Todd Cain, Adam Cain, Charles Hamilton Jr., Wesley Friday and Bobby Hamilton.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the service.

ANNIE BELL JOHNSON

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Annie Bell Johnson, 61, of 248 Brentwood St., will be Tuesday, Aug. 10, at 11 a.m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Sylacauga with the Rev. Eddie L. King officiating. Burial will be in Sylacauga Cemetery.

Mrs. Johnson died Aug. 7 at Coosa Valley BMC. She was a graduate of East Highland High School and was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Odetha Redmond and John Redmond; brothers, Earnest and Robert Redmond; and sister, Dorothy Redmond Leonard.

She is survived by daughter, Pamela Knight of Boston, Mass.; sisters, Marie Borden and Mary Seals of Sylacauga and Linda Kendrick Lee of Boston, Mass.; brothers, Willie Redmond of Boston, Mass., Larry Thomas of Boston, Mass., and London Wayne Thomas of California; one grandchild; and a host of other relatives.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Friends of the family will serve as flowerbearers.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 8 until 9 a.m. at the funeral home.

The body may be viewed at the church for one hour before the service.

Community Funeral Home will direct the service.

JAMES G. PEOPLES

CHILDERSBURG — Funeral service for James G. Peoples, 67, will be Tuesday, Aug. 10, at 2 p.m. at Midway Memory Gardens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Doug Eades and the Rev. Bob Blankenship officiating. Burial will be in Alpine Cemetery in Alpine.

Mr. Peoples died Aug. 7 at his residence. He was a native of Talladega and a resident of Childersburg. He was a Baptist by faith and was a retired crane operator. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lovnia Peoples.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Peoples of Childersburg; daughters, Debra Higginbotham of Childersburg and Kathryn Goodwin of Harpersville; sons, Wyndel Peoples of Childersburg and Daren Peoples of Alpine; sister, Fay Gooden of Oklahoma City, Okla.; brothers, Floyd Peoples and Charles Peoples of Childersburg; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Dakota Peoples, Mark Peoples, Harley McDonald, Jerry Beavers, Stephen Johnson, Jay Stiles and Franklin Castleberry.

Midway Memory Gardens Funeral Home will direct the service.

HARLEY GEORGE STEINBROOK

EASTABOGA — Funeral service for Harley George Steinbrook, 81, will be Wednesday, Aug. 11, at 11 a.m. at Talladega Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. John Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Halls Cemetery in Lincoln.

Mr. Steinbrook died Aug. 7 at his residence. He was preceded in death by a son, Harley George Steinbrook Jr., and a brother, Henry Lloyd Steinbrook. He was a native of Payson, Okla., but had lived many years in Talladega and Calhoun counties. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Refuge Baptist Church in Lincoln and was retired from Hanger Hinge Company in Anniston.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Lee Steinbrook of Anniston; daughters, Mary Bernice Wiarek of Indianapolis, Ind., Gloria Jean Middaugh of Franklin Furnace, Ohio, Patricia Ann Martin of Eastaboga, Reba Gail Reid of Lincoln and Shelia Gauldin of Eastaboga; sons, William Ray Steinbrook of Kissimmee, Fla., Kenneth Lee Steinbrook of Indianapolis, Ind., Terry Wayne Steinbrook of Indianapolis, Ind., John Paul Steinbrook of Indianapolis, Ind., and Jerry Wayne Steinbrook of Lincoln; sisters, Patsy Ann Steinbrook, Goldie Marie Steinbrook and Mary Steinbrook; brothers, Oliver Lee Steinbrook, Robert Hugh Steinbrook and William Leslie Steinbrook; 26 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Greg Howell, Craig Reed, Joe Gauldin, Kevin Middaugh, Greg Clark and Chris Hubbard.

Talladega Funeral Home will direct the service.

JOSEPHINE HALL WILLIAMS

RAGLAND — Funeral service for Josephine Hall Williams, 69, of 813-6th Avenue, will be Wednesday, Aug. 11, at 2 p.m. at Bible Way Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ with Elder Mitchell Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Morning Star Cemetery.

Mrs. Williams died Aug. 4 at her residence. She was a member of Bible Way Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, Percy Hall and Katie Lanier Hall; and a sister, Catherine Thorthan.

She is survived by daughters, Cheryl Butler of Gadsden and Katie Looney and Delphine Hall of Ragland; sons, Roscoe Williams Jr. of Gadsden and Jonathan Williams and David Williams of Ragland; sisters, Elder Dollie Woods of Ragland, Mae Berta Perry of Gadsden and Ethel Thomas of Anchorage, Alaska; brothers, Hudon Hall and Percy Hall of Gadsden; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The body may be viewed at the church for one hour before the service.

Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.

Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary will direct the service.

THELMA B. WRIGHT

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Thelma B. Wright, 94, was Monday, Aug. 9, at noon at St. John Baptist Church with Pastor Eddie L. King officiating. Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Wright died Aug. 5 at Coosa Valley BMC. She was a native of Shelby County and was a member of St. John Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Timmie Wright; and daughter, Patricia Wheeler.

She is survived by daughters, Wyonia Ruth Thompson of Athens, Ga., and Tessie W. Harris of Sylacauga; sons, Robert L. Wright of Akron, Ohio and Timothy Wright Jr. of Birmingham; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Deacons of St. John Baptist Church served as pallbearers.

Madden's Funeral Service directed the service.

MARY FRANCES ALLEN

TALLADEGA — Graveside service for Mary Frances Allen, 82, will be Tuesday, Aug. 10, at 2 p.m. in Oak Hill Cemetery in Talladega with the Rev. Monty McClendin officiating.

Mrs. Allen died Aug. 7 at her residence. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Clifton Allen. She was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega County, was a member of the First Brecon Baptist Church in Talladega and was a retired seamstress.

She is survived by daughter, Mary Sue Jones of Lincoln; sons, Leslie Frank Allen of Anniston, John Steve Allen of Lincoln and Tony C. Allen of Talladega; sister, Margie Moody of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Talladega Funeral Home will direct the service.
