BRENDA HEARD COLLINS

LINCOLN — Funeral service for Brenda Heard Collins, 55, of 993 Colvin Road, will be Saturday, July 31, at 2:30 p.m. at Holy Hill Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ with Bishop Edward Thomas and Elder Julius Cook officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Collins died July 24 at her residence. He was preceded in death by her parents, Howard Heard Sr. and Nesie Embry Heard; two sisters, Maxine Carmichael and Evelyn Smith; and one brother, Eugene Heard. She was a member of New Hope Faith Deliverance and True Word of God Apostolic Ministries Inc. She was a member of the District Missionary, was a Sunday school teacher and president of the Women Counsel of the church.

She is survived by her husband, Bishop James E. Collins of Lincoln; daughters, Sheretta Bradford and Lorraine Collins of Anniston; sons, James Earl Collins, Orandray Collins and Kenny Collins of Lincoln; sisters, Mattie Carmichael of Lincoln and Minnie Thorton, Edna Guilford, Debra Smith, Betty Heard and Bobby Heard, all of Panama City, Fla.; brothers, Johnnie Reed of Dothan, Charlie Heard and Timothy Heard of Panama City, Fla., Howard Heard of Lincoln, Willette Heard of Anniston and Willie Lewis Heard of Columbus, Ohio; and eight grandchildren.

The body may be viewed at the church for one hour before the service.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Lawerance Carmichael, Dwight Elston, Rodney Hayes, Stevie Smith, Alfred Thorton and John Wills.

Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary will direct the service.

FRED BAILEY

CHILDERSBURG — Funeral service for Fred "Neal" Bailey, 77, will be Saturday, July 31, at 10 a.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home chapel in Sylacauga with the Rev. Tommy Reaves officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery in Brent.

Mr. Bailey died July 28 at Baptist Medical Center Montclair in Birmingham.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Bailey of Childersburg; son, Fred Bailey Jr. of Childersburg; daughter, Gail May of Newnan, Ga.; granddaughter, Dawn Carter of Brasselton, Ga.; grandsons, Jim Thompson of Pelham, Brandon Bailey of Childersburg and Daniel Bailey of Childersburg; granddaughter, Brittney Bailey of Childersburg; great-granddaughters, Bailey and Abby Carter of Brasselton, Ga.; sister, Viola Duncan of Brent; and brother, Carnel Bailey of Centreville.

The family requests no flowers but contributions to the building fund at Marble City Baptist Church, 1512 Quarry Road, Sylacauga, Ala., 35150.

The family will receive friends Friday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga will direct the service.

FELIX PELEM GARRETT

CHILDERSBURG — Funeral service for Felix Pelem Garrett, 84, will be Saturday, July 31, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Childersburg with the Rev. Stanley Threatt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Garrett died July 22 at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham. He was a veteran of World War II where he served in the Navy. He was retired from the City of Ecorse, Mich., where he was the superintendent of the street workers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Reynolds Garrett; his mother, Rosalind Anderson Garrett; his father, William Mac Garrett; and brothers, Paul Garrett and Alex Mac Garrett.

He is survived by sister, Gladys A. Simmons of Childersburg; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers and flowerbearers.

The body may be viewed Friday from 2 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home and at the church from noon until service time.

Childersburg Mortuary Service will direct the service.

CHARLES W. LINER SR.

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Charles W. Liner Sr., 68, will be Saturday, July 31, at 11 a.m. at Full Gospel Tabernacle with the Rev. Joe Kelley officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga.

Mr. Liner died July 28 at Coosa Valley BMC. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Sophie Liner and one son, Michael Liner. He coached Little League Baseball and was a Boy Scout leader. He was a member of the Full Gospel Tabernacle.

He is survived by his wife, Claudette Liner of Sylacauga; sons, Charles W. Liner Jr. and wife Kathy of Childersburg and Dale Liner and wife Cathy of Sylacauga; brothers, Billy Liner of Sylacauga, Pete Liner of Sycamore and Toby Liner of Sycamore; sisters, Polly Splawn of Pleasant Grove, Iwilder Castleberry of Sylacauga and Mable Murphy of Sycamore; three grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Robert Splawn, Jim Gentry, Sonny Landers, Henry Hendricks, John Thomas Johnston, Don Lively and Trey Liner.

The family will receive friends Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

The body may be viewed at the church for one hour before the service.

Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga will direct the service.

JAMES Washington POWELL

SYLACAUGA — Graveside service for James Washington Powell, 83, will be Friday, July 30, at 10:30 a.m. in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Malon Felkins and the Rev. Eddie Bolen officiating.

Mr. Powell died July 28 at University Hospital. He was a lifetime member of Mignon United Methodist Church and retired from Avondale Mills with many years of service. He served in the Navy during World War II and was preceded in death by daughter, Jamie Nell Powell; mother, Sammie Nell Powell; father, James Monroe Powell; and brother, Douglas Lamar Powell. He was past director of Avondale Mills Credit Union.

He is survived by his wife, Mozell Powell of Sylacauga; son, James W. (Jay) Powell of Birmingham; daughter, Jeanna Powell Williams of Plant City, Fla.; and brother, Huzzell Powell of Foley; and grandchildren, Stacy Beasley, John Michael Beasley, Laura Beasley and Jamie Beasley.

Pallbearers will be William "Bo" Milam, Robert Parrett, John Michael Beasley, John Merrill Beasley, Robert Hale and Lee Williams.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the service.

BEN RIMPSEY

ANNISTON — Ben Rimpsey, 68, died July 28.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Anniston Funeral Service.

ERNESTINE H. SHELTON

PELL CITY — Funeral service for Ernestine H. Shelton, 71, will be Saturday, July 31, at 1 p.m. at Rocky Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Pell City with the Rev. John E. Herd officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Shelton died July 27 at her residence. She was born Sept. 3, 1932 in Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Taft Houston and Channie Robinson Houston.

She is survived by daughters, Jacquelyn S. Williams of Los Angeles, Calif., and Sheryl Rene' Lucas of Rochester, Minn.; sons, Marche' D. Shelton of College Park, Ga., DeFrederick C. Shelton of Pell City and Taro' Ken Shelton of Pell City; sister, Jenine Thompson of Washington, D.C.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.

Armour's Memorial Funeral Home in Alexander City will direct the service.

ELDER ALBERT F. SMITH

GOODWATER — Funeral service for Elder Albert F. Smith, 78. will be Satrurday, July 31, at 2 p.m. at Hatchett Springs Baptist Church with Apostle W.T. Traylor officiating. Burial will be in Hatchett Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Smith died July 24 at his residence.

He is survived by his wife, Annie P. Smith of Goodwater; sons, James Smith and Lee Rodger Smith of Birmingham; daughter, Bernice Maddox of Birmingham; brother, Dock Smith of Kellyton; sisters, Min. Ruby L. Harrison of Goodwater and Evangelist Sarah P. Hill of Cleveland, Ohio; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Wright's Funeral Home will direct the service.

CHARLES RAY WHITE

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Charles Ray White, 50, will be Friday, July 30, at 11 a.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home chapel in Sylacauga with the Rev. Matt Hilyer officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga.

Mr. White died July 28 at Baptist Medical Center Montclair in Birmingham. He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert White. He graduated from B.B. Comer Memorial High School in 1972.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa L. White of Sylacauga; his mother, Edith White of Sylacauga; sister, Martha Hall of Sylacauga; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will accept flowers or contributions may be made to Children's Hospital, 1600 7th Avenue South, Birmingham, Ala., 35233.

Pallbearers will be Tucker Hall, Todd Hall, Travis Hall, Lee Walker, Brandon Walker and Caleb Walker.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jay Walker and Garrett Walker.

Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga will direct the service.
