WILSONVILLE — Gertrude Avery of Wilsonville died Sunday, June 27, at her residence.

PELL CITY — Funeral service for Geneva Batson Brakefield, 80, of Pell City, will be Tuesday, June 29, at 2 p.m. at Kilgroe Chapel with the Rev. J.D. Wales officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Brakefield died Sunday, June 27.
She is survived by two sons, Billy Joe Brakefield and Marvin Edward Brakefield; one granddaughter, and one great-grandchild.

ALEXANDER CITY — James Doss Caldwell of Alexander City died Sunday, June 27, at his residence.

WAYNE THOMAS EDWARDS
PELL CITY — Graveside service for Wayne Thomas Edwards, 57, of Pell City, will be Tuesday, June 29, at 11 a.m. at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East.
Mr. Edwards died Saturday, June 26.
A member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Pell City, he worked as a courier for Quest Diagnostics.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Louise Edwards, and one sister, Lillie Carolyn Jenkins.
Jefferson Memorial Gardens will direct the service.
DOCK HARDY
SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Dock Hardy, 72, of Sylacauga, will be Wednesday, June 30, at 2 p.m. at Odena Baptist Church with the Rev. Carey Brown officiating. Burial will be in Odena Cemetery.
Mr. Hardy died Sunday, June 27, at his residence.
A native of Talladega County, he was a member of Odena Baptist Church, a veteran of the
Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army, and a carpenter by trade.
He is survived by two sons, David Lee Hardy of Sylacauga and Jim Hardy of Vincent; two daughters, Brenda K. Durden of Lincoln and Rebecca Pelfrey of Sylacauga; six brothers, James T. Hardy of California, Preston Hardy of Florida, Billy Joe Hardy, Ray Hardy, Larry Hardy and Jiggy Hardy all of Alpine; five sisters, Ruby Holley of Childersburg, Faye Butler of Fayetteville, Grace Frost of Winterboro, Mary Houston of Childersburg and Barbara Cruise of Alpine; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jack Holley, Scott Holley, John L. Durden, Kenneth Chambers, Wesley Hill and Tyrone Pelfrey.
The family will receive visitors from 5:30 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel.

WILLIE MAE MEADOWS
TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Willie Mae Meadows, 75, of Rockford, Ill., will be Wednesday, June 30, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Cleveland Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Jones officiating. Burial will be in Meadows-Welch Cemetery.
Mrs. Meadows, formerly of Talladega, died Wednesday, June 23, in Rockford, Ill.
She attended Nottingham School and was a former member of Mt. Cleveland Baptist Church in Rockford, Ill. She was a member of Tabernacle Church of God in Christ where she was a member of the mothers board. She was a former nurse’s aide at Citizens Hospital.
Mrs. Meadows was preceded in death by a son, Steven Meadows, a brother, Heanry Meadows Jr., her parents, Henry Meadows Sr., and Leeida Welch Meadows.
She is survived by one daughter, Mae Lois Sendaba of Rockford, Ill.; four sons, Henry Lee Meadows of Peoria, Ill., Charles Meadows of Talladega, Joseph Meadows of Marietta, Ga., and Timothy Meadows of Rockford, Ill.; 10 grand children and two great-grandchildren.
Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary will direct the service.
FAY MOORE POWELL
SYLACAUGA — Graveside service for Fay Moore Powell, 78, of Sylacauga, will be Tuesday, June 29, at 11:30 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery
with the Rev. Doug Martin officiating.
Mrs. Powell died Saturday, June 26, at Coosa Valley Baptist Medical Center in Sylacauga.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Powell Sr.
A native of Sylacauga, she was a member of Mignon United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Gary Ann Lee of Picayune, Miss., and Linda Jean Graham of Covington, La.; one son, Douglas "Chipper" Lamar Powell of Sylacauga; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Brad Graham, Marty Graham, Clint Lee, John David Graham, Jamie Duckett and Chris Humphries.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Mignon United Methodist Church, 410 10th Street, Sylacauga, AL 35150.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga.

LEAMON SMITH
CRAGFORD — Funeral service for Leamon Smith, 82, of Cragford was Monday, June 28, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Randy Anderson, Steve Johnsey and Zenus Windsor officiating.
Burial was in Bethany Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Smith died Saturday, June 26, at his residence.
He was a native and life-long resident of Clay County. He was a graduate of Mellow Valley High School and a U.S. Army veteran in World War II. Mr. Smith was a carpenter, a farmer and a member of Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Doreen W. Smith of Cragford; daughter, Joan Dale Cheaney of Cragford; son, Ronald Smith of Cragford; sister, Josie Rasberry of Florala; brother, Noel Smith of Daviston; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Betty Francine Smith.
Pallbearers were Jamie Smith, Chris Smith, Jeffery Cheaney, Ashley Cheaney, Chris Parker, Todd Bruce, Glenn Kennedy and Dale Waldrop.
Benefield Funeral Home of Lineville directed the service.

PELL CITY — Graveside service for Louise Eades Tollison, 83, of Pell City, will be Tuesday, June 29, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Cemetery
with the Rev. Herman Cowan officiating.
Mrs. Tollison died Sunday, June 27.
She retired from Avondale Mills with 27 years of service. She was a member of Friendship Freewill Baptist Church.
She is survived by one brother, Buddy Eades; one sister, Eva Callahan; and two grandchildren.
Kilgroe Funeral Home of Pell City will direct the service.
JOHN T. WORTHY
ALEXANDER CITY — Funeral service for John T. Worthy, 93, of Alexander will be Tuesday, June 29, at 2 p.m. at Wayside Baptist Church with the Rev. Lowell Ledbetter, the Rev. Jason Rodgers and the Rev. Jerome King officiating. Burial will be in Hillview Memorial Park.
Mr. Worthy died Sunday, June 27, at his residence. He was born in Clay County to John Oscar Worthy and Josephine Joiner Worthy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Manley Worthy, Theodore Worthy, Durwood Worthy and Jesse Worthy and sister, Georgiana Worthy.
He worked as a shipping clerk for Russell Corporation and was a member of Wayside Baptist Church for more than 50 years, where he served as a deacon. He also did volunteer work for senior citizens.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary Emma Worthy of Alexander City; daughter, Jacqueline Harrellson; sisters, Nell Worthy Miller of Lineville and Myrtle Ree Colquitt of Talladega, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Wayside Baptist Church, P.O. Box 493, Alexander City, AL 35010, or to the charity of one's choice.
