ROBERT NILS BLUMENSCHEIN
TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Robert Nils Blumenschein, 65, of 699 Lake Ridge Lane will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Hepzibah Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Hagan officiating. Burial will be in Crestwood Memorial Gardens in Flint, Mich.
Mr. Blumenschein died Aug. 15 at Baptist Medical Center Montclair in Birmingham. A native of Springfield, Ohio, he lived in Fenton, Mich., most of his life and was a resident of Talladega since 1989. He was retired from General Motors with 34 years of service and was a member and deacon of Hepzibah Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Blumenschein of Talladega; a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Ricky Claypool of Holly, Mich.; two sons, Douglas Blumenschein and Scott Blumenschein and wife Valeska of Talladega; a sister, Carol Richards of Holly, Mich; five brothers, Donald Blumenschein of Oxford, Mich., Edward Blumenschein of Winter Haven, Fla., Gerald Blumenschein of Holly, Mich., James Blumenschein of Phoenix, Ariz., and David Blumenschein of Davisburg, Mich.; eight grandchildren, Jamie Weinstrand, Jodi Brudges, Nathan Blumenschein, Stefanie Blumenschein, Melanie Blumenschein, Brandy Blumenschein, Joshua Blumenschein and Aaron Blumenschein; and five great-grandchildren.
Seacons of Hepzibah Baptist Church will be pallbearers.
The body may be viewed at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hepzibah Baptist Church building fund.

CECIL CUNNINGHAM
BIRMINGHAM — Funeral service for Cecil Cunningham, 54, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Blooming Light Baptist Church in Pell City with the Rev. Billy Frazier officiating. Burial will be in Greenfield Church Cemetery.
Mr. Cunningham died Aug. 12 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his father, Deacon Wallace Cunningham Jr.
He is survived by one daughter, Penelope Jones of Talladega; his mother, Cicely Cunningham of Pell City; two sisters, Ollie Mae Threatt and Mollie O'Neal of Pell City; one brother, Edward Cunningham of Cleveland, Ohio; and two grandchildren.
The body may be viewed at the church for one hour before the service.
Pallbearers will be Billy Bush, Shawndal Henderson, Jamie Smith, Jimmy Threatt, Billy Dark, Cortez O'Neal, Earlie Threatt III and Warren Threatt.
Sims Funeral Service will direct the service.
LIZZIE J. SWAIN
ALPINE — Funeral service for Lizzie J. Swain, 78, of 454 Reynolds Mill Road, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Kingston Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Cornelius W. Brown III officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Swain died Aug. 12 at Citizens BMC in Talladega. She was a member and senior choir member of Kingston Missionary Baptist Church, was a member of the American Cancer Society, Laurel Chapter No. 108 Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Cheerful Givers Society and the American Union Relief Society. She was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Swain Sr., and her parents, John Henry Jones and Geneva Garrett Jones.
She is survived by three daughters, Bettye Jean Swain of Buffalo, N.Y., Lizzie Mae Swain and Mary Alice McKinney of Alpine; two sons, Amos Swain Jr. and Ronald Douglas Swain of Alpine; two sisters, Genie Mae Reynolds of Alpine and Rosa Lee Swain of Buffalo, N.Y.; one brother, John Henry Jones Jr. of Talladega; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary will direct the service.
WILLIAM BENTON TICE
SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for William Benton (Phil) Tice, 76, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Curtis and Son Funeral Home North chapel with the Rev. Harold Hyatt and the Rev. Joe Teel officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Tice died Aug. 15 at his residence. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received five Bronze Stars, Bronze Star Cluster and served in the 82nd Airborne Division 5th Rangle Battillion. He was in the Invasion of Normandy, was owner of Tice Discount Company in Sylacauga and was a native of Hamilton.
He is survived by his wife, Janell J. Tice of Sylacauga; two sons, William Tommy Tice Sr. of Sylacauga and Phillip Scott Tice of Marietta, Ga.; three daughters, Janice R. Tice of Houston, Texas, Sherita Gayle Tice of Knoxville, Tenn., and Patty Ann Baxter of Fayetteville, N.C.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Chris Davis, Kenny Watson, Ricky Nichols, Scott Smith, Eddie Sims, Jason Standifer and Dana Castleberry.
The family will receive friends Friday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

SARA ANN WALLACE
ALPINE — Funeral service for Sara Ann Wallace, 63, of 934 Grist Mill Road, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at New Maryland Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Stanley Threatt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Wallace died Aug. 8 at Carraway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham. She was a member of New Maryland Baptist Church and was a former employee of Bemis Bag Company and Avondale Mills. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis Twymon and Nannie Mae Chapman McGraw; her husband, Will Wallace Jr.; a sister, Willie Mae Scott; and two brothers, James E. Chapman and William H. Chapman.
She is survived by three daughters, Catherine Wallace of Alpine, Phyllis Wallace of Talladega and Bonita Wallace of Wetumpka; three sons, Jerry Wallace of Childersburg, Rodney Wallace of Talladega and Vince Wallace of Alpine; five sisters, Jessie Nell Morris and Kathy Scales of Talladega, Eva Mae Odousanya of Washington, D.C., Carol Anderson of Sylacauga and Lessie Mae Hamilton of Brooklyn, N.Y.; five brothers, J.B. McGraw of Hyattsville, Md., Robert McGraw of Childersburg, Darryl Twymon of Fayetteville, N.C., Roderick Twymon of Fort Sill, Okla., and Willie Henry Twymon of Talladega; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

EASTABOGA — Funeral service for Sallie Archie, 76, of 8380 Highway 202 will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Springhill Baptist Church with the Rev. N. McBath officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. Archie died Aug. 13 at Colonial Pines Nursing Home. A lifelong resident of Eastaboga, she was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church and the Golden Harps. She was preceded in death by her father, Alfred Miller; her mother, Sallie Bowie; and a daughter, Minnie Cox.
She is survived by a son, James Archie Sr. of Buffalo, N.Y.; five sisters, Ruth Roberts, Judy Coswell and Sarah Copeland of Bynum, Ella Leonard of Anniston and Della Hannah of Hobson City; a companion, Wallace Ham of Eastaboga; and two grandchildren.

LINCOLN — Funeral service for Odell Brock-Turner, 89, of 2702 St. Mary Road, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Joseph Stafford Rowser Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Brock-Turner died Aug. 13 at her residence. She was a member of Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a Mother of the Church. She was retired from Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center in Anniston. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Turner; a daughter, Mary Joyce Turner; two sons, Alfonza Turner and Troy Lemon; her parents, Elijah Brock and Ethel Posey Brock; three sisters, Josie Ragland, Minnie M. Brogan and Bernice McKee; and four brothers, A.D. Brock, Thonzy Brock, James O. Brock and Hardell Brock.
She is survived by one daughter, Mae Z. Turner-Barclay of Lincoln; one son, Robert E. Turner of Anniston; three sisters, Henrietta Walker of Bynum, Edna Mae Brock and Ruby L. Moore of Talladega; one brother, Robert E. Turner of Anniston; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

DAYTON, Ohio — Willie Lee Elston, 69, formerly of Talladega, died Aug. 12 at his residence.

PELL CITY — Funeral service for Shane Hannah, 24, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Hannah died Aug. 15.
He is survived by his parents, Donald and Linda Hannah; a grandfather, Howell Sweatt; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

LINDA SUE HAYES
CROPWELL — Funeral service for Linda Sue Hayes, 49, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Glenn Horsely officiating. Burial will be in Valley Hill Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Hayes died Aug. 16.
She is survived by a sister, Irene Castleberry of Pell City; a brother, Jessie Wayne Hayes of Atlanta; and several nieces and nephews.

WILLIE B. JOHNSON
TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Willie B. Johnson, 80, of 726 Avenue K, will be Saturday at 4 p.m. at Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary chapel with the Rev. Frankie Moton officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery.
Mr. Johnson died Aug. 14 at his residence. He was a former employee of Anniston Army Depot, served in the U.S. Army from Dec. 20, 1945, until Dec. 6, 1946, and was awarded the Meritorious Unit Award, World War II Victory Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal. He was preceded in death by his mother, Inez Johnson.
He is survived by two daughters, Annie Morton of Dayton, Ohio, and Willie Mae Moton of Talladega; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.

DURWOOD GEWINN KEY JR.
OXFORD — Funeral service for Durwood Gewinn Key Jr., 53, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Curtis and Son Funeral Home North chapel with the Rev. Gary Rivers officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Key died Aug. 15 at his residence. He attended Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Oxford, was a sales manager for Tape Craft in Anniston and was a native of Sylacauga.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa Key of Oxford; one daughter, Jennifer Key Murphy of Oxford; one grandson, Hunter Murphy of Oxford; and two sisters, Marie McEwen of Hanover and Lisa Floyd of Fayetteville.
The family will receive friends Friday from 5:30 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

ANDERSON, Ind. — Funeral service for Bettie Lawler Welch, 91, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Second Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. William O'Neal officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery.
Mrs. Welch died Aug. 10 at St. John's Health Systems in Anderson, Ind. She was formerly of Talladega. She was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as a member of the Missionary Society. She was preceded in death by her husband, Yancy Welch; her parents, Willie and Nellie Lawler; one son, Charles Edward Welch; brothers, Floyd Lawler and Charlie Lawler; sisters, Maddie D. Chapman, Lessie Swain and Alice Williams; and three grandchildren.
She is survived by four daughters, Catheryn Wilson, Betty Sue Swain and Florence Lee Gould of Anderson, Ind., and Sara Ann Williams of Hartford, Conn.; four sons, Andrew Welch of Talladega, Joe Lewis Welch of Indianapolis, Ind., William Welch and Gardner Welch of Anderson, Ind.; four sisters, Ida Mae Reynolds and Sadie Mae Gladney of Cleveland, Ohio, Bertha Ragland and Juliet Wilson of Talladega; one brother, Curtis (Tiny) Lawler of Talladega; 33 grandchildren, 78 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

OXFORD — Funeral service for Horace Young, 52, of 47 Young Lane will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Sweet Rock Pure Holiness Church with Sister Mozell Elston officiating. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery.
Mr. Young died Aug. 13 at Regional Medical Center in Anniston. A lifelong resident of Oxford, he was employed by National Gypsum Paper Company.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Young Sr.; a brother, Larry Young; and a sister, Ida Young Romine.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Young of Oxford; a daughter, Nekita Young of Munford; two sons, Roderick Young of Oxford and Devin Young of Birmingham; his mother, Willie Estell Young of Oxford; four sisters, Elizabeth Turner of Las Vegas, Nev., Flossie Chatman and Linda Dial of Oxford and Anita Suttle of Anniston; three brothers, Fred Young Jr., Randy Young and Douglas Young of Oxford; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Cedric Baker, Edward Best, Dexter Chatman, Henry Elston, Gary Freeman, Franklin Goodmen, Clifton Fantroy, Brady Jones, Charles Turner and Phillip Rhoder.
