JOHNNIE BARLOW McCAIN
SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Johnnie Barlow McCain, 70, will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Mignon Baptist Church with the Rev. Todd Reaves officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery
in Sylacauga.
Mrs. McCain died April 5. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey McCain. She was a member of Mignon Baptist Church and volunteered as a Pink Lady at Coosa Valley BMC. She was an instructional assistant and computer operator at B.B. Comer High School.
She is survived by sons, Ricky Berry of Sylacauga and John Berry of Houston, Texas; daughters, Pamela Machen of Sylacauga and Susan Williams of Hollins; sister, Bobbie Horton of Sylacauga; special nephew, Tony Riddlehoover of Hartselle; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family will accept flowers or contributions to Mignon Baptist Church, 401 West 10th St., Sylacauga, Ala., 35150.
Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga will direct the service.

ALEXANDER CITY — Funeral service for David Rufus Moon, 78, will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Rocky Mount Baptist Church with the Rev. Al Lawson officiating. Burial will be in Rocky Mount Cemetery.
Mr. Moon died April 2.
He is survived by his wife, Nirene D. Moon of Alexander City; brothers, Theodore Moon Sr. and Mack Moon of Alexander City; five nephew; one niece; and other relatives.

JAMES HOWARD GOSS
COOK SPRINGS — Funeral service for James Howard Goss, 84, will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Usrey Funeral Home chapel in Talladega with the Rev. Jimmy Vincent and the Rev. Billy Abrams officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park in Talladega.
Mr. Goss died April 8 at The Village at Cook Springs. He was a native of St. Clair County, lived most of his life in St. Clair County and then lived in Talladega. He was a member of the V.F.W., was a veteran of World War II and was an avid fisherman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Jones Goss.
He is survived by daughter, Mary P. Lee and husband Bill of Buda, Texas; sons, Howard E. Goss and wife Rita of Leeds and John F. Goss and wife Pam of Vincent; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and stepchildren, Don Jones of Pell City, Sandy Campbell and husband Buddy of Talladega and Susan Rotenstein and husband Hurst of Florida.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega will direct the service.

PELL CITY — Alden L. (Larry) Crisp, 69, died Saturday, April 10, at Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham.

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Jettie Mae "Aunt Sue" Dennis, 87, of Sylacauga, will be Tuesday, April 13, at 2 p.m. at Oldfield Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Dean officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Clanton.
Mrs. Dennis died Saturday, April 10, at Baptist Medical Center Montclair in Birmingham. She was a member of Oldfield Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Annie Pearl Sanders and Clyde Sanders of Sylacauga; two sisters-in-law, Gertrude Tippett of Sylacauga and Rachel Tippett of Anniston; several nieces and nephews, including Eddie Sanders of Tuscaloosa, Danny Tippett of Rockford, Keith Tippett of Anniston, Mary Penrod of Rockford, Betty Jo Chambliss of Childersburg, Cindy Haynes of Anniston and Render S. Johnson of Sylacauga; nine great-nephews and four great-nieces.
Great nephews will act as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Monday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Curtis and Son Funeral Home South Chapel.

LINCOLN — Funeral service for Leavie Mae Groce Embry, 51, of 371 Greer St., will be Tuesday, April 13, at 1 p.m. at Little Jerusalem AFM Church of God with Bishop James A. Truss officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Embry died Wednesday, April 7, at her residence.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Denise Embry of Talladega; two sisters, Carolyn Smith of Talladega and Loran Fomby of Lincoln; three brothers, Robert Groce Sr. of Lincoln, Carol Groce of Birmingham and Howard Groce of Boston; two grandsons; four aunts; two uncles; and a host of other relatives.
Active pallbearers will be Clyde Embry, Robert Charles Embry, Kenneth George, Tony George, Stanley Weed, and Wayne Fomby.
Nieces and friends will serve as flower bearers.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

LAVA DEWELL MOORE
TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Lava Dewell Moore, 85, will be private at the request of the family.
Mr. Moore died April 10 at Stringfellow Hospital in Anniston. He was a native of Clay County and was a resident of Talladega. He was a member of Ironaton Baptist Church and a technical sergeant in the United States Army. He retired from Newberry Manufacturing, where he worked as a machinist. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hallie Elizabeth Gurley Moore.
He is survived by daughter, Deana Moore of Talladega; sister, Odell Ford of Harpersville; and brother, Frank Moore of Talladega.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Nixon, Carlean Vincent, Gina Fincher, Johnny Finch, Maranda Heath and Joni Burke.
Honorary pallbearers will be Alfred Gurley, Edwin Daniell, Pamela Daniell, Mae Lewis Watts, Franklin Bunn, Tishie Pate, Idell Ashberry, Becky Robinson, Melissa Atkinson, Dean Elder, Belinda Nixon, Wendy Rogers, Betty M. Smith and Judy Stephens.
Midway Memory Gardens Funeral Home will direct the service.
IRA Johnson PHILLIPS
TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Ira Johnson Phillips, 52, of 707 Scott St., will be Wednesday, April 14, at 1 p.m. at Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary chapel with the Rev. B.E. McKinney officiating. Burial will be in Midway Memory Gardens.
Mr. Phillips died April 8 at Citizens BMC. He attended Talladega County Training School and was a member of Union Springs Baptist Church. He was a former member of the Talladega County Sheriff's Auxiliary, was a faithful member of the Talladega Rescue Squad and was an active volunteer at Eastside Head Start.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Watkins Phillips of Talladega; daughters, Maple L. Phillips of Valrico, Fla., Betty J. Turner of Anniston, Angela Swain of Talladega, Bridgette Ward and Tamiko Van Horn of Birmingham; sons, Arthur B. Phillips of Riverview, Fla., Donald M. Phillips of Camden, Ira J. Phillips Jr. of Montgomery, Debron L. Phillips of Talladega, Milton Garrett of Woodbine, Ga., Stanley Garrett and Jerome Garrett of Talladega, Charles Welch of Birmingham and Darryl Garrett of Alpine; his mother, Avis Phillips Beavers of College Park, Ga.; sister, Helen Wallace of Talladega; 39 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Members of the Talladega Police Department and Talladega Housing Authority will serve as pallbearers.
