JUDY DIANE BURDETTE BUTLER

MAYLENE — Funeral service for Judy Diane Burdette Butler, 49, was Friday at 1 p.m. at Charter Funeral Home with Brother Waymond Stricklin and Brother Bruce Smart officiating. Burial was in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Butler died Feb. 3. She was born in Alabama on Monday, June 7, 1954, the daughter of Homer Johnson and Jane Lowery Johnson. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and grandmother. She had been employed by Sylacauga Hospital, now known as Coosa Valley Baptist Medical Center, as a nurse assistant.

She is survived by her loving husband, Doyle Butler; her mother, Jane Lowery Johnson of Maylene; sons, Chris Burdette Sr. of Sylacauga and Justin Butler of Maylene; daughters, Donna Burdette, Jessica Butler and Jennifer Butler of Maylene; seven grandchildren; brothers, Jeffrey R. Johnson of Adamsville, Bobby N. Johnson of Maylene and Roland Johnson of Alabaster; sister, Teresa Chappell of Maylene; and numerous other family members.

Charter Funeral Home in Calera directed the service.

HERMAN CROSS SR.

OCALA, Fla. — Herman Cross Sr., 53, died Feb. 9 at Monroe Hospital in Ocala, Fla.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Anniston Funeral Service.

MATTIE LOU HEATH DENNEY

ASHLAND — Funeral service for Mattie Lou Heath Denney, 92, will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Old Providence Baptist Church with Pastors Bill Brown, Keith Jones and Jared Harris officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Denney died Feb. 8 at her residence. She was a native of Troup County, Ga., and had lived most of her life in Clay County. She was a homemaker and a member of Old Providence Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by one son, James Pellom Denney; and one grandson, Terry Wayne Denney.

She is survived by her husband, Thurman Pellom Denney of Ashland; daughters, Mary Lou Brewer, Joyce Harris and Janice Waldrop of Ashland; son, Perry Wayne Denney of Odenville; sisters, Ruth Royals of Goodwater and Catherine Miller of Vincent; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Harris, Jared Harris, Lamar Ingram, Carl Smith, Joe Jordan, Phil Jones and James Loyle Miller.

Home health nurses and aids and Hospice of Clay County will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland will direct the service.

HARVEY JACK HARRY

TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Harvey Jack "The Hub Cap King" Harry, 83, will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Midway Memory Gardens Funeral Home chapel with Thomas Moates officiating. Burial will be in Midway Memory Gardens Cemetery.

"Hub Cap Harry" died Feb. 6 at Brookwood Hospital. Talladega's king has passed away. Mr. Harry was a native of Cedartown, Ga., and was a resident of Talladega. He was a Baptist by faith, was employed by Wehadkee for 25 years and owned his own flea market. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary LouAnn Johnson; and his son, Robert Lee Harry.

He is survived by sons, James Michael and David L. Harry of Talladega; brother, W.L. Harry of Talladega; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be James Johnson Jr., Ronald Johnson Sr., Gerald Hill, Jay Bush, Billy Turley and Lane Pilkington.

Eli Johnson and Tyler Harry will be honorary pallbearers.

Midway Memory Gardens Funeral Home will direct the service.

LUCILLE PATTERSON LAWLER

SYCAMORE — Lucille Patterson Lawler, 88, of 637 Thurman Road, died Feb. 9 at her residence.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Community Funeral Home.

CLIFFORD R. SALTER

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Clifford R. Salter, 71, was Monday at 11 a.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home chapel in Sylacauga with the Rev. Donald Grice officiating. Burial was in Eastaboga Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Salter died Feb. 7. He was preceded in death by his wife, Farris W. Salter; daughter, Donna Sue Hallman; and granddaughter, Marilyn Ashley Parsons. He attended Unity Freewill Baptist Church.

He is survived by daughters, Deborah Salter Stone and Joyce Salter Parsons of Sylacauga; sons, Bradley Steven Salter of Alexander City and Bobby Joe Salter of Sylacauga; brother, Dwight Salter of Munford; sister, Floise Gallops of Ragland; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga directed the service.

HARRY HENRY VanDIVNER

ALPINE — Harry Henry VanDivner, 82, died Feb. 8 at Citizens BMC.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Midway Memory Gardens Funeral Home.

BOYD CURTIS

CHILDERSBURG — Funeral service for Boyd Curtis, 82, will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home chapel in Sylacauga with the Rev. Chuck Kornegay officiating. Burial will be in Fayetteville Methodist Cemetery.

Mr. Curtis died Feb. 10.

He is survived by sister, Frances C. Butler of Childersburg; brothers, James Curtis of Childersburg and Howard Curtis of Rockford; and sister, Willie Mae Maness of Childersburg.

Pallbearers will be Steve Parr, David Brewer, Josh Brewer, Joey Vansandt, Matt Vansandt and Michael Maness.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga will direct the service.

LEDELL POWELL GRUBBS

GOODWATER — Funeral service for Ledell Powell Grubbs will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Goodwater with the Rev. Melvin Ervin officiating. Burial will be in Macedonia Memorial Gardens in Goodwater.

Mrs. Grubbs died Feb. 6 at Russell Medical Center in Alexander City. She was born March 17, 1924, in Cottage Grove. She was preceded in death by her parents, Adie and Perlilure Bryant Powell.

She is survived by children, Maxine Grubbs, Stanley Grubbs, Terry Grubbs and Jeanise Chatman; sister, Carrie Lauderdale; brother, Adie Powell Jr.; five grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.

Armour's Memorial Funeral Home in Alexander City will direct the service.

CHARLES MARVIN HOWARD

JACKSON, Tenn. — Funeral service for Charles Marvin Howard, 55, was Feb. 6 at 1 p.m. at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with the Rev. Gary Morris officiating. Burial was in Ridgecrest Cemetery.

Mr. Howard died Feb. 4 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. He was born on Aug. 14, 1948, in Gadsden, the son of Marvin M. and Nan Epps Howard. He was a computer programmer.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Ada Howard of Jackson, Tenn.; parents, Marvin and Nan Howard of Gadsden; sisters, Martha Joyce Howard of Talladega and Betty Ann Howard of Las Cruces, N.M.; grandmother, Myrtle Epps of Gadsden; one uncle; two aunts; and several cousins.

Pallbearers were Wayne Ada, Linard Richardson, Mary Hayes, Billy Newsom, Andy Harwood and Dr. Charles Herron.

George A. Smith and Sons South Chapel directed the service.

HARRY HENRY VanDIVNER JR.

ALPINE — Funeral service for Harry Henry VanDivner Jr., 82, will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Midway Memory Gardens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Randy Hagen officiating. Burial will be in Hepzibah Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. VanDivner died Feb. 8 at Citizens BMC. He was a native of Uniontown, Pa., and was a resident of Alpine. He was a Baptist by faith and was a retired 1st sergeant in the Army. He was a veteran of World War II and was a member of the V.F.W. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Samuel VanDivner and Thomas Lancaster.

He is survived by his wife, Barcie VanDivner; daughters, Ruth Lee of Cartersville, Ga., Patricia Woosley of Bushnell, Fla., and Malisa "Lisa" McCrary of Lexington; sons, David VanDivner of Harver Springs, Mich., Ben VanDivner of Overland Park, Kan., and Miles VanDivner of Alpine; sisters, Jannie Marshall of LaDella, Pa., Beverly Rockwell and Della Beatty of Dembo, Pa., and Hannah Wortman of Fredricktown, Pa.; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be David Haynes, Mark Allen, Jake Allen, Beaver Tinsley, Bud Harvell and Terry Martin.

Timothy Sunday School Class members will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Midway Memory Gardens Funeral Home will direct the service.
