Kidd

TALLADEGA - Services for George Floyd Kidd, 66, of Talladega will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Sims Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. W.J. Posey officiating. Burial will be in Talladega Memorial Garden.

Mr. Kidd died March 23 at Talladega Health Care Center.

Survivors include his mother, Nealie Kidd of Talladega; four sons, Mark Kidd of Ohio, George Kidd III and Reginald Noland, both of Detroit, and John Wallace Kidd of Talladega; six daughters, Irene King of Talladega, and Ava Howard, Nicole Kidd, Christina Kidd, Trina Kidd and Leola Brown, all of Detroit; a sister, Kimberly Clemmons of Detroit; 22 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Mr. Kidd was preceded in death by his father, wife and a son.

Lewis

Services for Eugene Lewis, 84, of Anniston will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Gaines Chapel A.M.E. Church in Anniston with Rev. Benjamin Little officiating. Entombment will be in Anniston Memorial Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at Goodson Funeral Home 6-8 tonight. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services.

Mr. Lewis died Friday at Regional Medical Center in Anniston.

Survivors include his wife, Merilyn Lewis.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

Mr. Lewis, an Army veteran, retired from the board of education in New Haven, Conn. He was a mason and a member of Elks Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Horrace Sr. and Fannie Mae Lewis; and three brothers, Horrace Lewis Jr., Nathanal Lewis and Samuel Lewis.

McLester

Services for Darrell McLester, 45, of Anniston will be announced by Anniston Funeral Service.

Mr. McLester died Sunday at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital in Anniston.

Petty

Memorial services for John David Petty, 45, of Anniston, will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Bobby Maye officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Mr. Petty died March 24 at his home.

Survivors include two sisters, Sandra Petty Davis of Salisbury, N.C. and Jackie Maye and her husband, Bobby, of Anniston; two nieces, three nephews, a great-niece and two great-nephews.

Mr. Petty, a native of North Carolina, had resided in Anniston for several years. He was preceded in death by a sister, Minka Petty; his mother, Nellie Hardy Curlee; and his father, Johnny William Petty Jr. He was a Baptist.

Seitz

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Services for Barbara Seitz, 77, of Daytona Beach, Fla. were Thursday at Covenant United Methodist Church in Port Orange, Fla.

Mrs. Seitz died March 21 at her home.

Survivors include her husband, William M. Seitz; two sons and their wives, Bill and Claudia Seitz of Port Orange, Fla. and Tom and Karen Seitz of Jacksonville; a daughter and her husband, Carol and Richard Nelson of Arlington, Texas; and nine grandchildren, including Taylor Seitz and Brad Seitz.

Mrs. Seitz, a native of Isle of Pines, Cuba, was a British citizen.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.

Taylor

TALLADEGA - Services for Lyda Taylor, 93, of Talladega will be today at 11 a.m. at Talladega Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Bill Goodwin and Finley Holbrook officiating. Burial will be in The Lincoln Cemetery.

Mrs. Taylor died Sunday at Talladega HealthCare Center.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph W. Taylor; three daughters, Mary Nell Baggett and her husband, Charles, of Talladega, Annie Laurra Humphrys of Mobile and Glenda Curtner and her husband, Les, of Lake Charles, La.; a son, Joe Walter Pressley of Oklahoma; a half-brother, James Johnston of Talladega; a half-sister, Ruth Martin of Rockford; and a host of grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be deacons of the Lincoln Baptist Church and grandchildren.

Mrs. Taylor, a Blount County native, had lived in Talladega County for 26 years. She was a member of Lincoln Baptist Church and played for many gospel groups. She retired as a registered nurse.

Vice

WELLINGTON - Services for O’Bera Warren Vice, 72, of Wellington will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Don Carroll officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Crestwood Funeral Home 6-8 tonight. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services.

Mrs. Vice died Monday.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Sheila and Donald Griffith; three sons and their wives, Buddy and Katie Rawls, Josef and Rob Vice, and Luke and Tammy Watson; a sister, Dalphene Harrell; a brother, Lloyd Warren; nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Mrs. Vice was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She was a home health nurse and a member of Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Red Vice; and a son, Ted Kleinklaus.

Vinson

Graveside services for Edison S. Vinson, 59, of Anniston will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Anniston Memorial Gardens with Rev. David Vinson officiating. The family will receive friends at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary & Crematory 6-8 tonight.

Mr. Vinson died Sunday at Regional Medical Center in Anniston.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Vinson; a son and his wife, Timothy and Tammy Vinson of Eastaboga; a stepson, Kevin Pugh of Oxford; a daughter and her husband, Rita and Steve Chauncey of Anniston; a stepdaughter and her husband, Renae and Ricky Stansell of Oxford; three brothers, Rev. David Vinson, Boyd Vinson and Jerry Vinson, all of Anniston; a sister, Kathryn McKenzie of Anniston; a grandchild, Logan Vinson; and three step-grandchildren, Hannah Stephens, Austin Pugh and Whitney Weiser.

Pallbearers will be Craig Vinson, Courtney Cotton, Justin Cotton, Charlie Header, Ricky Stansell and Calvin Barksdale.

Mr. Vinson, a Calhoun County native and lifelong resident, was Baptist. He was an Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Annie Reaves; and three brothers, Alfred Vinson, Paul Vinson and Rufus Vinson.

Whaley

Services for Larry L. Whaley, 54, of Anniston will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at K.L. Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Center chapel in Jacksonville with Revs. Ricky and Neva Hudson officiating. Burial will be in The Nine Gifts Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6-8 tonight.

Mr. Whaley died Sunday at Regional Medical Center in Anniston.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Parker Whaley of Jacksonville; a daughter, Angel Christina Whaley of Jacksonville; three sisters, Linda Turley and Cupid Lynette Dewberry, both of Anniston, and Frances Mauldin of Ohatchee; two sisters-in-law, Frankie Whaley and Meo Haynes, both of Jacksonville; two brothers, James Whaley and Calvin Whaley, both of Georgia; and three grandchildren, Isaiah Le’vell Whaley-Goree, Kemieah Me’Le Whaley-Goree and Daniegh Jane Whaley-Goree.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Mr. Whaley, a lifelong Calhoun County resident, attended The Church of The Nine Gifts. A Marine Corps veteran, he served in the Vietnam era. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans. He was preceded in death by his parents, James V. Whaley and Maudie Lee Whaley; and two brothers, Johnny Whaley and Kenneth Whaley.

Barker

Graveside services for Geraldine Tipton Barker, 76, of Golden Springs, will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Forestlawn Gardens with Rev. Russell Vaughn officiating and Brown & Kughn Memory Chapel in charge. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Barker died Monday at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital.

Survivors include a daughter, Diane Barker Krieger of Jonesboro, Ga.; a son, John Barker of Oxford; a brother, John Tipton of California; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Barker, a native and lifelong resident of Alabama, had lived in both Calhoun and Randolph Counties. She was a resident of NHC Nursing Home and she was a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Asa Paskell Barker; two brothers, James Tipton and William Tipton; a son, David Jeffrey Barker; and a grandson, Joshua Allan Krieger.

Blue

LINCOLN — Mrs. Terree Nall Blue, 68, of Lincoln, died Tuesday at Citizens Baptist Medical Center.

Survivors include a brother, Robert Frank Cox III; and a cousin, Cindy Smothers.

Mrs. Blue, a native of Talladega, was a resident of Hawaii most of her life. She was a retired teacher.

Usrey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Cooley

HEFLIN — Services for Elbert Cooley, 71, of Heflin, will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Anointed Deliverance Christian Center with Rev. Edward Turner officiating. Burial will be in Chulafinnee Cemetery with Ervin Funeral Chapel in charge. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services. The family will receive friends Thursday 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Cooley died Sunday at UAB Hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Bronzell Cooley of Heflin; three sons, Victor Cooley and his wife, Brenda, of Heflin, Timothy Cooley of Heflin, and Dennis Cooley of San Antonio, Texas; three daughters, Pearl Owens and her husband, Kerry, of Anniston, Carol Cohill and her husband, Daniel, of Heflin, and Iris Boykins and her husband, William, of Heflin; a sister, Lola Stephens of Heflin; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Mr. Cooley was a member of Canaan Baptist Church, where he served on the church Finance and Special Projects Committees. He was retired from U.S. Pipe and Foundry after 40 years of service.

Geeting

Services for Alice Marie Deaton Geeting, 83, of Anniston were Monday at Hillcrest Funeral Home in Shelbyville, Tenn., with Rev. Mark Ashley officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Geeting died Thursday at NHC Healthcare.

Survivors include two sons, Allen Geeting of Shelbyville and Byron "Barney" Geeting of Anniston; a brother, Robert Deaton of Columbus, Ohio; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Geeting was a longtime resident of Shelbyville; a retired nurse for Bedford County Medical Center; and a member of Cannon United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Noah Edwin "Ted" Geeting.
