HUBERT BAKER
GREENVILLE, Ga. — Funeral service for Hubert Baker, 86, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home chapel in Lineville with Ken Baldwin and Jerry Beavers officiating. Burial will be in Faith Assembly of God Cemetery.
Mr. Baker died Dec. 17 at his residence. He was a native of Randolph County, was a former resident of Mobile, Anniston and Clay County and had lived in Greenville for the past three years. He had been employed with Anniston Cording Company as a machine operator. He was a Holiness by faith.
He is survived by son, Bobby Hugh Baker of Greensboro, Ga.; step-daughter, Helen Ruth O'Hearn of Chickasaw; sisters, Eula Mae Heath of Ashland and Essie Triplett of Lineville; five grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville will direct the service.
LARRY EDSEL BYRD
TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Larry Edsel Byrd, 58, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Mike Jones officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park.
Mr. Byrd died Dec. 18 at Regional Medical Center in Anniston. He was a native of Sylacauga and lived most of his life in Talladega. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church and was retired from J.R. Pittard School of Technology. He worked at Alabama Industrial Development Training. He was preceded in death by his father, Dempsey Byrd, and daughter, Della Louann Byrd.
He is survived by son, David Byrd of Alaska; his mother, Ann Byrd of Talladega; sister, Rita Gurley of Lawrenceville, Ga.; nephew, Christopher Gurley of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and niece, Angelia Sonksen of Signal Mountain, Tenn.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be John M. Hall, Neal Phillips, Louie Pettis, Rip Williams, Tommy Burton, Johnny Curlee, Terry Knight, Rick Jacks and Jeremy Curlee.

ARTHUR MARION GROGAN
ALABASTER — Funeral service for Arthur Marion Grogan, 88, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Usrey Funeral Home chapel in Talladega with the Rev. Glenn Bonds officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park.
Mr. Grogan died Dec. 18 at Shelby Ridge Nursing Home in Alabaster. He was a native of Talladega County and lived most of his life in Talladega. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church where he was a deacon. He was retired from Farm Bureau Grain Elevator.
He is survived by his wife, Estherine N. Grogan of Talladega; daughter, Mary Alice Haynes and husband Clanton of Sylacauga; sister, Lettie G. Smith of Munford; grandchildren, Rob and Tiffan Wood and John and Amy Wood; and great-grandchild, Courtney Wood.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Rob Wood, John Wood, Jimmy Smith, J.C. Smith, Wilfred Smith and Jakie Dale Smith.
Deacons of Southside Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.

MAVEN MIZZELL HARRIS
CLANTON — Funeral service for Maven Mizzell Harris, 77, will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Curtis and Son Funeral Home North chapel with the Rev. Jim Shannon officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Harris died Dec. 16 at Baptist Medical Center Princeton. She was born and raised in the Sylacauga area, was a member of Wesley Chapel Methodist Church and attended Lime Springs First United Methodist Church in Clanton. She is survived by son, Rodger Harris of Clanton; daughter, Becky Craddock of Alabaster; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

SYLVAN CORNELIUS JONES
WILSONVILLE — Funeral service for Sylvan Cornelius Jones, 93, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Curtis and Son Funeral Home Childersburg chapel with the Rev. Wayne McDaniel officiating. Burial will be in Tallassahatchie Cemetery.
Mr. Jones died Dec. 17 at his residence. He was born May 4, 1910 in Talladega County near Renfro. He went to meet his Lord on Dec. 17, 2003. He lived in the city of Bon Air for 55 years and retired from the Avondale cotton mill there. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Ida Edwards Jones; brothers, Fred Jones and Anthony Jones and sisters, Martha Vick, Nita Caldwell, Tishey McDonald and Fanny Giddens. He was active in several churches and loved the Lord and studying the Bible.
He is survived by son, Howard Jones and wife Lois of Alpine; daughters, Mary Louise Hall and husband Jerome of Huntsville and Ruby Revis and husband Alan of Wilsonville; brother, Bill Jones of Childersburg; sister, Cadelia Hobbs of Childersburg; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
The family will receive friends Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Dewayne Epperson, Ronnie Revis, Toney Revis, Allan Barnett, Buster Bolton and Bryan Bolton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Jones Jr. and William (Butch) Bolton.

HELEN BOND McEWEN
SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Helen Bond McEwen, 81, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home chapel in Sylacauga with Minister Mike Kiser officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery
in Sylacauga.
Mrs. McEwen died Dec. 18 at her residence. She was a member of the Sylacauga Church of Christ and was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Vernon O. McEwen Sr.
She is survived by son, V.O. "Chip" McEwen Jr. of Montgomery; sister, Wilma Bond of Sylacauga; grandchildren, Grant McEwen, Paige McEwen and Nicole Kim; great-grandchild, Maddi Kim; nieces, Elaine Robertson of Dothan and Beverly Endicott of Hoover; nephew, Frank Vickery of Montgomery; six grand nieces and nephews.
Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the Sylacauga Church of Christ Library Fund, the Boy Scouts of America Tukabatchee Council, Montgomery, Ala., or any other organization supporting a Christian environment for youth.
Pallbearers will be Jay Dennis, Matt Robertson, Stewart Robertson, Jeff Greer, Todd Endicott, Frank Vickery and Donny Ingram.

KATHY McELDERRY MONIGAN
MUNFORD — Funeral service for Kathy McElderry Monigan, 47, of 196 Foster Lane, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. C.M. Henderson Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Jenifer Community Cemetery.
Mrs. Monigan Dec. 15 at Regional Medical Center in Anniston. She was a 1974 graduate of Munford High School and a graduate of Alabama A&M University where she received a B.S. degree. She was employed as an accountant in Birmingham. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church where she served as a member of the Senior Choir, Matrons, was a Sunday school teacher, Concerned Citizen Scholarship committee, financial secretary of the church and a member of Knights Price No. 760 O.E.S.
She is survived by son, Gregory McElderry of Munford; brothers, Ira James McElderry of Talladega and Samuel Thomas of Oxford; two grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.
The body may be viewed at the church for one hour before the service.
Masonic Brothers will serve as pallbearers.
Sims Funeral Service will direct the service.
HAZEL BOGGS PARTRIDGE
PELL CITY — Graveside service for Hazel Boggs Partridge, 96, formerly of Valley, was Tuesday, Dec. 16, at 1 p.m. (EST) in Fairfax Cemetery
in Valley with the Rev. Dennis Herron officiating.
Mrs. Partridge died Dec. 14 at St. Clair Regional Hospital in Pell City. She was born Nov. 12, 1907, in Calhoun County. She was a homemaker and had been active in Fairfax Methodist Church where she was a member of the WSCS. She was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader and was a member of the Fairfax Garden Club. She had been a volunteer for the American Red Cross and numerous other civic duties in Fairfax. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Partridge; and her parents, Ella Boggs and Henry Boggs.
She is survived by daughters, Faye (Paul) Wilson of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and Linda (Forest) Walls of Pell City; son, Thomas (Judy) Partridge of Lady Lake, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Fairfax Methodist Church in Valley in Mrs. Partridge's memory.
McCarthy Funeral Home in West Point directed the service.
INFANT WEAVER
CHILDERSBURG — Memorial service for Infant Boy Weaver will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Community Funeral Home chapel.
The infant died Dec. 15 at Coosa Valley BMC.
He is survived by his mother, Rebecca Weaver of Childersburg and his father, Brian White of Childersburg.
Community Funeral Home will direct the service.
ERMA McLEROY WOODS
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Graveside service for Erma McLeroy Woods, 95, will be Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in Oak Hill Cemetery
with Dr. Rob Paul officiating.
Mrs. Woods died Dec. 18 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight M. Woods; her parents, Sarah Ernestine Todd McLeroy and Ruben Monroe McLeroy; six brothers; and two sisters. She was born and raised in Clay County on Oct. 26, 1908. She lived all of her adult life in Talladega until moving to Brentwood, Tenn., to be with her daughter. She was a graduate of Talladega Nursing School and worked at Citizen's Hospital until her retirement as Director of Nursing in 1977. After retirement she was a tireless volunteer in various civic and church activities. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Talladega and a member of the Iva Nell Ricker Sunday School Class.
She is survived by daughter, Sherry Woods Hammond (Arthur); grandson, Grant Hammond of Brentwood, Tenn.; sister, Dorothy Brown of Birmingham; nieces and nephews; and "special granddaughter" Elizabeth Fritz.
The family will receive friends and family on Saturday at the funeral home from 10 until 11 a.m.
