Staner, Lillian, age 85, will be deeply missed by her family and all who admire what a woman could accomplish in a time when it would not be expected by those who search for a lifetime of adventure, but most of all, by her son who misses her wonderful singing and love. Born in Chicago's "Bucktown", later living in Niles, Bunkerhill Estates. She and her husband retired to Birmingham, Alabama 20 years ago, but remained active traveling in their 70's and 80's to India, Nepal, Australia, China, and many other wondrous sites. Lillian loved adventure, in 1953 going to Alaska to "pan for gold" by way of a tramp steamer, train, and bushpilot. She was quite accomplished in fresh water fishing, usually shaming her contemporaries at the time (invariably crusty old fisherman and sportsmen) with the catch of the day (and season). A blonde 5'2" with blue eyes and perfect complexion, she was athletic as a youth enjoying baseball and other "park" sports in the 1920's, but still capable of running in her 80's. She joins her beloved husband, Thomas A. Staner, Sr., who passed away almost two years ago; leaving behind her loving son, Dr. Thomas A. Staner, Jr., a caring daughter-in-law, Ellen and a precious grandson, Thomas A. Staner III. Also she leaves her dear sisters and brother, Gladys Wojton, Anita Goczeski, and Chester Goczeski and many loving nieces and nephews. Interment at St. Adalbert's Cemetery, Chicago, Ill.
