Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 19, at 11 a.m. at Clay Baptist Church with burial in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Orlando, Fla. Rev. Rick Hinkle officiating. He was retired, a member of New Birth Baptist Church, a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, member of the #1 Usher Board and The Christian Union #1. Conwell, Mrs. Mary Frances Gilbert, a ge 69 of Montevallo, made her transition on Saturday, January 23, 1999. She was a native of Bibb County, employee of the University of Montevallo for 27 years, a member of the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church Montevallo, where she served on the Usher Board, matron and member of the Missionary Society. She was a faithful member of the Harris Pride Chapter #437 Order of the Eastern Star. Service of memory will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Church, Pastor Harry Jones will officiate with interment in the Carlton Hill Cemetery Brier field. Downey, Jennie R., died April 15, 1999, in Pensacola, Fla. She was born in Commerce, Ga. on September 2, 1909 and was a long time resident of Birmingham, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert B. Downey. Mrs. Downey is survived by her sons, Robert E. Downey and wife Fatima, Thomas L. Downey and wife, Marilyn of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Harold Alan Downey of Mobile; grandchildren, Deborah, Kristi, Jeff, Greg, and Felisa; four great grandchildren and one great great grandson. Survivors also include: sisters, Edna Redd Cummings and Mildred Elizabeth Redd of Birmingham; brothers, James Harold Redd of Sun City, Fla., John Alexander Redd of Arnold, Calif. and Ronald Winters Redd of Panama City, Fla. Memorial services will be held on May 1, at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Birmingham. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.
