Lewis, Mrs. Flora Laird Mrs. Flora Laird Lewis, a Bessemer resident died Tuesday, December 21, 1999. Family Hour is 6:00 Sunday at Johnson Memorial. Funeral is Noon Monday at New Zion Baptist, 1026 24th Street, Bessemer. Inhumation will follow at Elmwood. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Flora L. Gilder, Robert S., Sr., age 57, of Birmingham, died January 1, 1999. He was employed in the Environmental Services Department at Lakeshore / HealthSouth. He was a member of 23rd Street Baptist Church of Ensley and a graduate of Western Olin High School. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 1:00 p.m., at 23rd Street Baptist Church of Ensley with Rev. Morrell Todd officiating. Survivors: spouse, Mrs. Wanda K. Gilder, Birmingham; daughter, Miss Katina D. Gilder and Miss Katrice D. Gilder, both of Birmingham; three sons, Robert S. Gilder, Jr., Reginald S. Gilder and Randall C. Gilder, all of Birmingham; mother, Mrs. Eloise Gilder, Birmingham; three sisters, Mrs. Catherine Johnson, Montgomery, Mrs. Joyce Smith and Mrs. Georgia Richard son, both of Birmingham; one brother, Josh Gilder, Jr., Birmingham; one aunt, Mrs. Willie Elliott, Montgomery. Nuss, Mr. Curtis R., 58, of Hoover, died January 27, 1999. Survivors are his wife, Catherine Nuss; sons, Erich Allen Nuss, Atlanta, Ga., Kristian Bradford Nuss and Bradford Ryan Nuss, both of Hoover; daughters, Dawn Nuss Gibson, Melissa Correne Nuss, both of Atlanta, Ga., and Amanda Brooke Nuss, Hoover; grandchildren, Mehgan Marie Gibson, Madison Catherine Gibson and Eric Curtis Nuss; mother, Odell Nuss, Hanceville; brothers, Carl R. Dubose, Christopher, age 23, of Birmingham, died Thursday, December 31, 1998. He was a member of Morningstar Baptist Church. He was a 1988 graduate of Parker High School and a graduate of Lawson State. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 6, at 1 p.m. at Morningstar with burial in Carver Memorial Gardens. Survivors: three sons and one daughter; mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Dubose; three sisters and two brothers, and other relatives and friends. Roberts Central Park Chapel directing.

Mullen, Mr. John, Sr., age 73, of Gallion, Alabama passed January 21, 1999. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 30, at Noon at Evening Star Baptist Church, Gallion, Alabama. Rev. Floyd James, officiant. Interment will follow in church cemetery. Remains will repose at church on Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m. Larkin and Scott Funeral Directors of Demopolis, Alabama entrusted with arrangements.

Smith, Baxter Ray, Jr., age 78, of Tamarac, Florida, died January 1, 1999. He was a member and Elder of Bethel Presbyterian Church in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 6, at 2 p.m. from Brown Service West Chapel with burial at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Survivors: wife, Marguerite Smith; children, Jo Waters, Jon Smith, Carol Smith, and Robert Smith; 17 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Inez Martin, Carolyn Pate, and Maxine Robin son; brothers, Harry Smith and J. Butler, Clyteel O'Neal, age 76, of Bessemer, died January 3, 1999. He was retired; a member of Ashby Baptist Church.
