Mansson-Rahemtulla, Britta, 54, of Mountain Brook, passed away January 16, 1999. She was a native of Sweden and had lived in Birmingham for the past 18 years. She received her D.D.S. and Ph.D. in Sweden. She was working as a faculty member at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry and was Chair of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry. Mrs. Mansson-Rahemtulla was also a member of the International Association of Dental Research and the American Association of Pediatric Dentistry. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Dr. Firoz G. Rahemtulla of Mountain Brook, her brother, Anders Maansson, and her sister, Gudrun Abascal, both of Stockholm, Sweden. Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be mad e to the Britta Rahemtulla Fellowship Fund at UAB. DuBois, Charles P., age 81, of Birmingham, passed away January 7, 1999. He was a member of Wilson Chapel United Methodist Church. He also retired from National Woodworks Inc. He was a decorated veteran of the Navy and received the Bronze Star twice during World War II. Funeral services will be Sunday, January 10, at 2 p.m. at Roebuck Chapel with burial in Ashville Cemetery. Rev. Pete Clifford officiating. Peterson, Mrs. Horace (SARAH). A memorial service will be held for Mrs. Horace (Sarah) Peterson on Sunday, April 25, 1999, at 2:00 p.m. at Midfield First Baptist Church, 500 Midfield Street, Midfield, AL. Our beloved Sarah entered into the church triumphant on April 1, 1999, in Lawrenceville, GA, where she and her husband Horace resided for the past two years. She was a lifetime resident of Birmingham until their move to Georgia. She was interred at Forest Hills Cemetery in Birmingham on April 3, 1999. She will forever be in our hearts. All friends and family are welcome to remember and honor her life.
Jones, Mr. Ocie (POPEYE), age 78, of Birmingham, passed away April 14, 1999. He was a retiree of Stockham Valve Company in Birmingham. He worked for Stockham Valve for 33 years and retired in 1983. Mr. Jones served in the U.S. Air Force from 1940-1945. Survivors include: wife, Hattie Mae Jones of Birmingham; brother, Mr. Willie B. Jones of Bessemer; sister, Charlie Mae Simmons of Pratt City; and a host of nieces and nephews; and a very special cousin, Willie "Ford" Reese and his wife, Laura, of Birmingham. The family will receive friends Monday, April 19, 1999, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Elmwood Chapel. Buck, Mrs. Murray S. (Thelma Black), age 95. Born in Harpersville, AL on May 8, 1903, to Jerusha and James Black, died in Newnan, GA on January 8, 1999. Preceded in death by her husband, Murray S. Buck, and survived by her daughter, Marcia Gayle Buck Cole, and son-in-law, Lloyd Denton Cole, Jr. Thelma was a life long Methodist and spent the majority of her life in Chelsea and Columbiana, AL. She was a very special lady to all who knew her and will be greatly missed by her family. Thelma had 3 grandchildren, Janet Cole Daulton, Suzanne Cole Boyle and Jon Buck Cole, and 7 great-grandchildren.
