Mansson-Rahemtulla, Britta, 54, of Mountain Brook, passed away January 16, 1999. She was a native of Sweden and had lived in Birmingham for the past 18 years. She received her D.D.S. and Ph.D. in Sweden. She was working as a faculty member at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry and was Chair of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry. Mrs. Mansson-Rahemtulla was also a member of the International Association of Dental Research and the American Association of Pediatric Dentistry. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Dr. Firoz G. Rahemtulla of Mountain Brook, her brother, Anders Maansson, and her sister, Gudrun Abascal, both of Stockholm, Sweden. Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be mad e to the Britta Rahemtulla Fellowship Fund at UAB. Johns-Ridout's Southside Chapel entrusted with arrangements.

DuBois, Charles P., age 81, of Birmingham, passed away January 7, 1999. He was a member of Wilson Chapel United Methodist Church. He also retired from National Woodworks Inc. He was a decorated veteran of the Navy and received the Bronze Star twice during World War II. Funeral services will be Sunday, January 10, at 2 p.m. at Roebuck Chapel with burial in Ashville Cemetery. Rev. Pete Clifford officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Survivors: wife, Sally Hodges DuBois; sons, Charles H. DuBois and Dr. Lee DuBois and his wife, Nancy; daughters, Martha DuBois Tate and her husband, Kenny, Ms. Laura Jane DuBois; grandchildren, Melissa DuBois, Eric DuBois, and Molly Tate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ashville Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund and Jefferson County ARC. Roebuck Chapel directing.

Peterson, Mrs. Horace (SARAH). A memorial service will be held for Mrs. Horace (Sarah) Peterson on Sunday, April 25, 1999, at 2:00 p.m. at Midfield First Baptist Church, 500 Midfield Street, Midfield, AL. Our beloved Sarah entered into the church triumphant on April 1, 1999, in Lawrenceville, GA, where she and her husband Horace resided for the past two years. She was a lifetime resident of Birmingham until their move to Georgia. She was interred at Forest Hills Cemetery in Birmingham on April 3, 1999. She will forever be in our hearts. All friends and family are welcome to remember and honor her life.

Jones, Mr. Ocie (POPEYE), age 78, of Birmingham, passed away April 14, 1999. He was a retiree of Stockham Valve Company in Birmingham. He worked for Stockham Valve for 33 years and retired in 1983. Mr. Jones served in the U.S. Air Force from 1940-1945. Survivors include: wife, Hattie Mae Jones of Birmingham; brother, Mr. Willie B. Jones of Bessemer; sister, Charlie Mae Simmons of Pratt City; and a host of nieces and nephews; and a very special cousin, Willie "Ford" Reese and his wife, Laura, of Birmingham. The family will receive friends Monday, April 19, 1999, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Elmwood Chapel. The funeral will be Tuesday, April 20, at 2:30 p.m. at Elmwood Chapel, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Elmwood Chapel directing.

Winn, Mrs. Helen, age 80, of Birmingham, AL, formerly of Ohatchee, died April 16, 1999. She was a member of Ohatchee United Methodist Church. Graveside service Monday, April 19, 1999, at 3:00 p.m. at Middleton Presbyterian Cemetery in Ohatchee, AL. Rev. Joe Jones and Rev. Thomas Francis officiating. Survivors: daughter, Helen Christina Pichardo-Winn of Port Orange, FL; grandchildren, Sydney Joy Winn and Autumn Pichardo-Winn, both of Port Orange, FL; daughter-in-law, Freida Winn of Gadsden; brother, Harold Mitchell Moore of Arlington, VA: sister, Evie Moore Whatley of Birmingham; and several nieces and nephews. Elmwood Chapel directing.

Thomas, Bonnie L., of Homewood died January 5, 1999. She was a charter member of Church of the Covenant. She is survived by her sisters, Mae T. Elder of Homewood, and Mrs. Rayford Freeman of Alexander City; nieces and nephews: Paulette Freeman, of Wetumpka, AL, Jacque Banks of Macon, GA, Judy White of Kennesaw, GA, Becky Elder of Homewood, AL, Chip Elder of Homewood, AL, and several grand nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 10, 1999 at 2 p.m. at the Church of the Covenant, Dr. Roger Lovett officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday at 1 p.m. Johns-Ridout's Southside directing.

Kiernan, Sally Foote age 52, of Jackson Heights NY, formerly of Homewood, died April 15, 1999. She was a graduate of Shades Valley High School and Birmingham-Southern College. She is survived by her husband, Jim Keirnan; three children, Anthony, Sara, and Edward, and her mother, Mrs. George Foote. Funeral service will be on Monday, April 19, 1999 at St. Joan of Arc in Jackson Heights. Conway Funeral Home directing.

Clemons, Mrs. Claudine Lynn, age 78, of Mulga, died January 7, 1999. She was a member of Sylvan Springs First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be Sunday, January 10, at 3 p.m. at Crestview Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Highland Memorial Gardens. Rev. Billy Hobson officiating. Family to receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Survivors: daughter, Mrs. Bobbie Dickey and husband, Phillip of Bessemer; sisters, Mrs. Sara Brown of Birmingham and Mrs. Joan Alexander of Quintown; brothers, Mr. James Alexander of Labucco, Mr. John L. Alexander of Quintown, and Mr. Charles Alexander of Copeland Ferry; granddaughter, Mrs. Debbie Creel and husband, Steve of Conyers, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Brandi and Todd Creel of Conyers, Ga.; several nieces and nephews. Dickey, Mr. M.S. (MAMP), age 70, passed away Thurs day, April 15, 1999. He owned and operated Dickey Cabinet Shop. He is survived by his wife, Lynn Dickey, of Bessemer; daughter, Cathy Pittman and her husband Jerry, of Mobile; sons, Samuel E. Dickey and his wife Gail, of McCalla, Terry W. Dickey and his wife Bonnie, of Calera, Douglas L. Dickey and his wife Candi, of Bessemer; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Golston, Mrs. Elizabeth A., of Nashville, Tenn., formerly of Birmingham, died Sun day, January 3, 1999. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 11, at Noon at South side C.M.E. Church with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Family Hour Sunday from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. Survivors: daughters, Mrs. Alfredda Bledsoe and Mrs. Jacqueline Fleming, both of Nashville, Tenn.; sister-in-law, Mrs. Gertrude Leonard of Birmingham; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Herrmann, Simmie Edins, of Liscomb, AL, died Friday, January 8, 1999. She was a member of Union Baptist Church of Liscomb. Survivors include: 2 daughters; 2 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers; and 1 sister. A graveside service will be held Monday, January 11, 1999, at 11:00 a.m. Burial at Elmwood Cemetery. Buck, Mrs. Murray S. (Thelma Black), age 95. Born in Harpersville, AL on May 8, 1903, to Jerusha and James Black, died in Newnan, GA on January 8, 1999. Preceded in death by her husband, Murray S. Buck, and survived by her daughter, Marcia Gayle Buck Cole, and son-in-law, Lloyd Denton Cole, Jr. Thelma was a life long Methodist and spent the majority of her life in Chelsea and Columbiana, AL. She was a very special lady to all who knew her and will be greatly missed by her family. Thelma had 3 grandchildren, Janet Cole Daulton, Suzanne Cole Boyle and Jon Buck Cole, and 7 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Sunday, January 10, at 1:30 p.m. at Crumly Chapel, 336 Crumly Chapel Road, Birmingham, AL.
