Quinn, Martha McAnnally, of Homewood, died June 21, 1999. She was a member of Shades Mountain Baptist Church and was retired from the Registrars Office at Samford University. Survivors: husband, George T. Quinn; sons, Thomas Allen Quinn and his wife, Esther and their son, Peter of Hoover; Terry E. Quinn and his wife, Laura and their son, Patrick of Marietta, Ga. Graveside service will be Thursday, June 24, at 10:30 a.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery, Reverend Paul Sanderson, officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:30 until 7:30 at the funeral home. Reid, John David, Jr., age 78, of Birmingham, died Tuesday, June 22, 1999. He was retired from the Birmingham Transit Authority. He was a World War II Veteran. He joined the Navy in 1942 and served aboard the S. S. Kenmore. Later he was attached to the Second Marine Division and was in the Invasion of Tinian, Saipan and served on Guadalcanal. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Reid, Sr. and Myrtle McDuffie Reid. Funeral services will be Thurs day, June 24, at 3:30 p.m. at Ridout's Roebuck East Chapel with burial in Jefferson Memorial Gardens. Quinton McKay officiating. Fikes, Mrs. Nelle Fay, age 82, of Adamsville, passed away Tuesday, June 22, 1999. She was born in Shady Grove (Bibb County), Alabama and was one of thirteen children born to the late James Luther and Annie Pearl Kelley. She was a former member of Ensley Baptist Church for fifty years, but in recent years was a member of Shady Grove Free Will Baptist Church. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 23, from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Bell Funeral Home in Forestdale.
