Sails, Mrs. Marie Tie, age 80, of Thorsby, made her transition on Saturday, June 12, 1999. She was a lifelong resident of Chilton County, retired from the First Alabama Bank of Chilton County. Member of the Union Baptist Church of Thorsby where she served as Superintendent of the Sunday School and Treasurer of the Missionary Society. Service of Memory will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the church, with interment in the Holly Grove Cemetery, Jemison. Her loving survivors are: her devoted children, David A. (Elizabeth) Sails, Lonnie (Shirley) Sails, Betty Jean Bizzell, Thomas Jones, and a sister, Johnnie Mae Sawyer; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Foster, Mr. Timothy William - He was born in Matthew Station (Bullock County) and attended the Bullock County Public Schools. Later, he chose to serve his country for more than 22 years in the U S Air Force. After receiving an Honorable Dis charge, he was certified as a chef from Lawson State College and was Director of Food service at Miles College. Mr. Foster was Treasurer and Steward at Payne Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church for many years. Recently, he united with Mt. Carmel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, near his home in Adamsville. Memories of life will be cherished by his devoted wife, Laura Garth Foster; children, William Van Buren, John Henry, David L. and Samuel Foster and Lillian Rawls; siblings, Sadie L. Tharp, Gregory Howard, age 36, of Birmingham died on Tuesday, December 14, 1999. He was born on October 9, 1963 in Montgomery, Alabama to Sandra Faye Sasser and Roy Howard Tharp, who both predeceased him. He grew up in Ozark, Alabama where he was a 1982 graduate of Carroll High School. Greg then attended the University of Montevallo and earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 1989. He began his career as a graphic artist in Montgomery and moved to Birmingham in 1992 to make his home here. He was founder and owner of Distinctive Graphics where he was tirelessly creative and enjoyed the friendship of his many clients. Greg enjoyed life to the fullest and gave of his time and talents to his community. He played softball with the New South Softball League for several years. He loved the festive season of Mardi Gras and was most proud of his membership in the Mystic Krewe of Apollo, Birmingham, where he reigned as King Apollo XXI in 1997. He was a loving brother, devoted uncle and cherished friend. He is survived by his sister, Dedra Lockard; his nephew, Tyler Lockard and his niece, Lynsey Lockard, of Birmingham; his brothers, John and Jeff Tharp, of Columbus, GA; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and special friend, Dickey Baker. Family and friends will receive visitors on Wednesday, December 15 from 6pm to 8pm at Johns - Ridout's (Southside Chapel) at 2116 University Boulevard.
