Peoples, Jessie James, Sr., age 75, of Bessemer, died October 30, 1999. He was a retired inloader operator at Wade Sand and Gravel Company with 52 years of service. He was a U. S. Costa, Mr. Tony J., age 90, of Birmingham, died Tuesday, November 30, 1999. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 2, at Ridout's Elmwood Chapel, with burial at Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Elmwood Chapel. Mr. Costa was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel P. Costa, and is survived by: two sisters, Mary Costa Leo and Maggie Costa Scarpulla, both of Birmingham; nephews, Jim, Frank, Joe and Tony Ippolito, all of Birmingham; nieces, Louise DiChiara, Antoinette James, and Frances Walls, all of Birmingham; and several great nieces and nephews. Mr. Costa was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, was a veteran of World War II and participated in the Battle of the Bulge, and retired from Supreme Beverage Company.
