Simmons, Clifford Wayne, age 58, of Odenville, died May 30, 1999. Visitation: Tuesday, 6:00-9:00 P.M. Chapel service Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. Burial: Liberty. Reach, Erma Hillman, age 87, of Birmingham, died Sun day. She was a member of Minor Methodist Church for over 50 years. A graduate of Minor High School, she worked as a beautician in the Minor and Ensley areas for many years. Preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Everett Reach, Sr. She is survived by: son, Mr. Raymond E. Reach, Jr. (Claudia Cleere); brother-in-law, Homer Hooper; sister-in-law, Marion Hillman. Funeral services Thursday, June 3, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at Elmwood Chapel. Dr. Ralph Bates officiating. Burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday, from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m.

Harris, Tammy Kearley, age 24, died Friday, May 28, 1999. Funeral service Wednesday, June 2, 1999 at 12:00 noon at Brown Service West Chapel. Cruce, Hollie K., age 81, of Warrior, AL, died Sunday, May 30, 1999. Born in Cullman, AL, February 21, 1918, he was employed with Lamsay and Session for 45 years. A veteran, he was preceded in death by his wife, Tammie Cruce; and parents, Charlie and Burnice Cruce. Funeral service Wednesday, June 2, 1999, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Burial in Ebenezer Cemetery in Vinemont. Survivors: son, John (Lee) K. Kight, Bluford E., age 82, of Birmingham, Alabama, died Friday, May 28, 1999. He was a veteran of World War II where he trained and served as an Aeronautical Engineer with The Tuskegee Airmen. Chapel service will be held Wednesday, June 2, at 11:00 A.M. Burial in Carver Cemetery. Survivors: wife, Annie W. Kight of Birmingham, Ala.; daughter, Tauheedah (AKA Patricia Kight) of Homewood; sister, Ruth Poole of New York; brother, Robert Kight of Chattanooga; two grandsons; one great-grandson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Wise, Mr. Oscar (LARRY) JR., age 57, of Springville, AL, died May 31, 1999. A member of Springville United Methodist Church, he retired from Inspection Service of Jefferson County. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Preceded in death by his father, Oscar Lawrence Wise, Sr. Funeral service Wednesday, June 2, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at Roebuck East Chapel. Burial in Springville. Parsons, Mr. Namon (September 12, 1924 - May 30, 1999), age 74, a lifelong resident of Oak Grove, passed away May 30, 1999. He was a veteran of World War II. He was also a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and the owner of Parsons Grocery for over 40 years. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 1, from 5:30 until 8:00 P.M. Funeral service at Oak Grove First Baptist Church will be Wednesday, June 2, at 2:00 P.M. Rev. Charles Aglin officiating. Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. Brown, Mary Short, age 89, of Alabama, died May 30, 1999. Member of Huffman Baptist Church. Chapel service Wednesday, June 2, at Noon. Burial: Jefferson Memorial Trussville. Roberts, W.P. "Doc", passed away May 26, 1999 after an illness. Born January 31, 1925 in Columbia, South Carolina, he served in the Army in World War II before graduating from Clemson University in 1949. He was predeceased by his wife of 39 years, Mary Bowen Aull Roberts. He is survived by his: three children, Mary Amanda Roberts (Ed) of Birmingham, Alabama; Caroline Evans Roberts (Vincent) Guida of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; and William Branham (Erin) Roberts of Lawrenceville, GA; loving grandchildren include: May Beth and Race Roberts, Evan Wilson and Reece Bowen Guida. Beloved family and friends will miss his lively spirit, gentlemanly ways and terrific sense of humor. A memorial service for Doc will be held Friday, June 18 at A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home in Decatur, Georgia, at 3:00 p.m. The family requests that memorials be made to the American Lung Association and the American Cancer Society.

Seymour, Dr. John C., age 70, of Tuscaloosa, AL, died May 29, 1999 at a Northport hospital. Graveside services for family and close friends will be held Tuesday, June 1, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, with Dr. Rick Lance officiating and Sunset Funeral Home directing. Memorial services will be held that after noon at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the First Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa. Visitation will be at the church immediately following the memorial service. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, please make donations to First Baptist Church International Ministry Program, or to the American Heart Association. Dr. Seymour is survived by his: wife, Dorothy Seymour of Tuscaloosa, AL; his daughters, Deborah Jenks (husband Louis) of Northport, AL, and Carol Orr (husband Dawson) of Pampa, TX; his son, John Jefferson (Jeff) Seymour II (wife Renee) of Columbia, MD; his sisters, Mary Minor (husband Edwards) of Clanton, AL, and Jacquelyn Jones (husband John Wallace) of West Point, GA; his granddaughters, Helen Orr and Vanessa Orr; and his grandsons, John Jefferson Seymour III and Kevin Jenks. Other survivors include: a number of extended family members. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly Seymour. Dr. Seymour was born and grew up in Lanett, AL, and was a veteran of World War II. He was a graduate of the University of Alabama with Bachelor's and Master's degrees, and he earned his Ed.D. from Columbia University in New York City. He established the doctoral program in Administration and Higher Education at the University of Alabama College of Education and retired as a Professor Emeritus. He retired as a Commander in the Untied States Naval Reserves. He was a founding member of Saint Mark United Methodist Church in Northport, AL, and until his death, he was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa, where he taught in the International Ministry Program's Sun day School. An avid stamp collector, he also served as Secretary of the Tuscaloosa Stamp Club. Pallbearers are his son, Jeff Seymour; his sons-in-law, Dawson Orr and Louis Jenks; his nephew Kenneth Minor; and his nephew-in-law, Bruce Dinoff. Honorary pallbearers are his grandsons, Kevin Jenks and John Jefferson (J.J.) Seymour III, Dr. J. Vernon Blackburn, Col. Clark O. Thornton, and Dr. C.T. Sharpton. Walding, Betty Conrad, age 67, of Pelham, died May 30, 1999. A member of West End Church of Christ, she was retired as Proof Clerk at First National Bank of Birmingham. Funeral service Wednesday, June 2, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Hoover. Burial in Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Hoover. Visitation Tuesday, June 1, 1999 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Hoover.
