JAMES R. HAMLIN

TALLADEGA — Funeral service for James R. Hamlin, 81, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Talladega Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Carl Dishman officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Methodist Cemetery in Clay County.

Mr. Hamlin died Sept. 28 at Carraway Methodist Medical Center. He was a native of Tallapoosa County and had lived in Talladega and Calhoun counties for the past four years. He was a Baptist by faith, was retired from the TVA and was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by daughter, Johnnie H. East of Oxford; son, Jimmy B. Hamlin of Coosa County; brother, William Hamlin of Pleasant Grove; and grandchildren, Delean Hamlin, the Rev. Cleave Hamlin, Jack Dyer Jr. and Blake East.

The family will receive friends Tuesday at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Doyle Smith, Ferrell Alford, Jack Dyer Jr., Plemer East, Jeremy Vick and Sam Terrell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Cox, Donald Wills, Lewis Bohannon and Johnny B. Bohannon.

Talladega Funeral Home will direct the service.

LUCY P. MARBURY

ATLANTA — Lucy P. Marbury, 88, formerly of Sylacauga, died Sept. 27 at Emory Health Care in Atlanta, Ga.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Madden's Funeral Service.

JIMMY MINOR

SYLACAUGA — Jimmy Minor, 65, died Sept. 29 at Coosa Valley BMC.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Curtis and Son Funeral Home.

HUBERT POWELL

ASHLAND — Funeral service for Hubert Powell, 87, will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Clay County Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Cleve Moore officiating. Burial will be in New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Powell died Sept. 28 at Clay County Hospital. He was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County, was retired from the Anniston Army Depot where he was employed for 32 years and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a Mastor Mason of Masonic Lodge No. 356 and was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alva Powell and a son, Wayne Powell.

He is survived by son, Huey Powell of Ashland; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be John Powell, Leon Morris, Dexter Smith, David James, Chris Hayes and Rodney Padgett.

Members of Masonic Lodge No. 356 and members of New Prospect Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home until service time.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or the church or charity of your choice.

Clay County Funeral Home will direct the service.

LINDA LOVVORN TIMME

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Funeral service for Linda Lovvorn Timme, 54, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Talladega with the Rev. Bob Blackwell officiating. Entombment will be in the Memorial Garden at the church.

Mrs. Timme died Sept. 25 at Providence Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska. She was a native of Talladega and was a long time resident of Alaska where she taught school for many years. Before moving to Alaska in 1974 she was employed at E.H. Gentry Technical Facility as secretary. In Alaska, she was an elementary school teacher for years and later served as liaison between the University of Alaska at Anchorage faculty and new teachers in training. Linda's years of teaching experience and dedication to the profession contributed to her effective mentoring. She was pleased and honored to help shape the newest generation of teachers and was eager to experience their success. Linda loved cooking, gardening, birding and the warmth of the sun on her skin and life in Alaska as well as at her home here in Munford. She was preceded in death by her father, Lemie Lovvorn; and a brother, James C. Johnson.

She is survived by her husband, William "Bill" Timme; sons, Andrew Timme of California and Matthew Timme of Alaska; daughter, Laura Timme of New York; mother, Velma S. Lovvorn; brothers, Billy Johnson (Betty) and Roy Johnson (Linda); sister, Mary Ruth Brimer, all of Talladega and a large and much beloved family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Linda's honor may be made to St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Talladega or a favorite library.

HAROLD GLENN TRAMMELL

TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Harold Glenn Trammell, 78, will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Usrey Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. James Woodin officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park.

Mr. Trammell died Sept. 29 at his residence. He was a native of Piedmont and lived in Talladega since 1948. He was a member of Bemiston United Methodist Church and a member of the Caravan Sunday School Class. He was a veteran of World War II, a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion. He was a Mason and Shriner where he served two terms as Worshipful Master of Talladega Lodge No. 261. He was a charter member of the Talladega Civitan Club and was a member of Eastaboga Lodge No. 155. He was owner of Talladega Fence and Aluminum. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry G. Trammell; and two brothers, Norris A. and James N. Trammell.

He is survived by his wife, Bobbye Baker Trammell of Talladega; sons, Gary Glenn Trammell and wife Darlene Trammell of Talladega and Patrick Baker Trammell and wife Suzanne Trammell of Birmingham; and four grandchildren, Wesley Trammell, Sara Trammell, Michael Trammell and Wyatt Trammell.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bemiston United Methodist Church Building Fund or to the Dixie Shrine Club Building Fund.

Pallbearers will be George Ansley, Gerald Beverly, Rick Bliss, Jack Carlson, Harry Couey, Randy Hunt, Tom Kulk, Harry McElwee, Gene Morris, Robert Robinson, Roger Scott and Len Smith.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. R.F. Bliss, Caravan Sunday School Class, Talladega Lodge No. 261 and Eastaboga Lodge No. 155.

Usrey Funeral Home will direct the service.

JOSEPH D. WARD

CHILDERSBURG — Funeral service for Joseph D. (Snook) Ward, 73, will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Midway Memory Gardens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Freddie Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Sycamore Cemetery.

Mr. Ward died Sept. 28 at his daughter's residence. A native of Cedartown, Ga., he had lived most of his life in Sycamore and was a resident of Childersburg for the past four years. He was retired from Avondale Mills, was the first fire chief in Sycamore and was a volunteer fireman. He was a member of Victory Full Gospel Tabernacle Church in Childersburg.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nellie Ward of Childersburg; daughters, Wanda Sue Hill of Sycamore, Sandra Kay Arnold of Alexander City and the Rev. Alicia Jo LaTaste of Childersburg; son, Timothy Glenn Ward of Childersburg; brother, the Rev. Oscar Ward of Sycamore; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Dale Roberson, Marshall McGrady, Kenny Ward, Phillip Ward, Chris Greer and Eddie Holmes.

Midway Memory Gardens Funeral Home will direct the service.

October 1, 2003

SARAH JANE PRICE

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Sarah Jane Price, 95, will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Community Funeral Home chapel in Sylacauga with the Rev. Jeff Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Sylacauga Cemetery.

Mrs. Price died Sept. 22 at Lake Martin Community Hospital in Dadeville. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.A. Price.

She is survived by niece, Mary Pilate of Sylacauga; nephew, Charles Pilate of Portland, Ore.; great-nieces, Cherie Huntley of Sylacauga and Serena Ashley of Portland, Ore.; great-nephew, Charles Pilate Jr. of Birmingham; and a host of other relatives.

Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers and flowerbearers.

The family will receive friends Wednesday at the funeral home from noon until 9 p.m.

Community Funeral Home will direct the service.

ALWIN L. CAMP

OXFORD — Funeral service for Alwin L. Camp, 59, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home chapel with Jeff Clark officiating. Burial will be in Munford Cemetery.

Mr. Camp died Sept. 29 at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Calhoun County and was a resident of Munford most of his life.

He is survived by his wife, Edna Camp of Oxford; his mother, Mildred Camp of Munford; daughter, Angela Lea Camp of Gold Hill, N.C.; sisters, Norma Catherine Camp and Lorraine Buchanan of Munford; and one grandchild.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from noon until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Miller Funeral Home will direct the service.

GERALDINE COOLEY

HEFLIN — Geraldine Cooley, 68, died Sept. 29 at University Hospital in Birmingham.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Anniston Funeral Service.

LETHA DISBROW

SYLACAUGA — Letha Disbrow, 95, died Sept. 30 at Coosa Valley BMC.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Curtis and Son Funeral Home.

JILL HERINGTON

LINCOLN — Memorial service for Jill Herington, 57, will be Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Feed My Sheep Church in Lincoln with Pastor David Kearley officiating.

Ms. Herington died Sept. 28.

She is survived by daughter, Tayrana Herington of Birmingham; grandchildren, Kyle Herington, Kody Michael and Konnor Michael, all of Birmingham; and fiance, Art Smith of Lincoln.

Charter Funeral Home in Calera will direct the service.
