Colvert, Bernice "Bea" Allison, age 97, of Hoover (Bluff Park), Alabama, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 1998, at a local hospital. Born May 15, 1901, Cape Girardeau, Missouri, s he was a member of Valley Christian Church, and a retired City of Birmingham school teacher, teaching industrial arts for 31 years. She was a member of both the Mountain Brook and Vestavia Hills Art Associations, beginning a career in art at age 65, leaving a legacy of her many paintings to family and friends. Mrs. Colvert was one to enjoy life to the fullest. She not only challenged herself to excel in all she did, but taught others to do likewise. She was pre-deceased by her husband, John E. Colvert, Sr.; sons, John E. Colvert, Jr. and George A. Colvert; daughter, Ludie Marie Colvert. Surviving are her son, William S. Colvert, and wife, Kathy; daughter, Betty C. Alexander, and husband, J. Lester, Jr., all of Birmingham; sister, Lillian A. Springer, Titusville, Florida; daughter-in-law, Edna Colvert, Alabaster; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Surviving also are her dear friends, Doris, Betty, Shirley, Lo, Brenda, Kathy, and Velvet who assisted her comforts in her last years. They will always cherish her memory. The family is forever indebted for their loving care and devotion. Rev. John Gregory will at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 2, 1999, lead services at Elmwood Chapel.
