Holt, Mrs. Edna M., age 103, of Birmingham, AL, died Friday, March 26, 1999. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Woodlawn, where she served as an Usher. She was a musician for various churches. Funeral service Friday, April 2, 1999, at 12:00 noon at First Baptist Church in Woodlawn. Burial in Forest Hill Cemetery. Survivors: son, Clifton (Barbara) Holt of New York City; two grandsons; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Smith & Gaston North Side directing.

Lewis, Michell, age 18, of Birmingham, AL, died March 31, 1999. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 3, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East, with Pastor Michael Rouse presiding. Visitation Friday, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Survivors: parents, Michael and Vicki Lewis of Birmingham, AL; sister, Chrissy Bingham (Larry) of Birmingham, AL; brother, Michael Lewis of Birmingham, AL; grandparents, Frank and Ruth Dove of Palmerdale, AL, Elisha and Mae Lewis of Springville, AL; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. Parrott, Donald Wayne, age 49, of Pinson, died March 28, 1999. Funeral Wednesday, March 31, 1999, at 2:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Church of God. Burial in Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery. Walker Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Armstrong, Mrs. Beatrice Marie, age 76, of Pinson, AL, died March 30, 1999. A member of Turkey Creek Baptist Church in Pinson, she was born July 28, 1922. Funeral service Thursday, April 1, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at Oakwood-Black wood Funeral Home Chapel. Burial in Stewart's Chapel. Visitation Wednesday, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Survivors: her husband of 60 years, Glen Ray Armstrong; sons, Ray Arm strong, Charles Armstrong, Ronnie Armstrong, Allen Arm strong; daughters, Marie Johnston, Margaret Marsh, Dorothy Archer, Patricia Bagwell, Doris Hewitt; 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brother, Felix Thomas; sister, Eileen Schaffer. Oakwood-Blackwood Funeral Home in Warrior is in charge of the service.

Shaw, Hilda Manners, age 91, of Jacksonville, AL, died March 29, 1999. She was a former resident of Birmingham and a member of the former Inglenook United Methodist Church. Mrs. Shaw was currently a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville. She was retired from Sears, Roebuck & Company, where she taught sewing. Survivors: step-daughter, Ann Gold of Mill Valley, CA; sis ter, Elsie Wheeler of Jacksonville, AL; brothers, John Manners of Birmingham and Lee R. Manners of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Cindy Hill, Jeff Dunn and Hank Dunn; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Ridout's Elmwood Chapel, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Reverend Margaret Northen officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 at the funeral home. Ridout's Elmwood Chapel directing.

Rogers, Mrs. Mary M., age 78, of Alabaster, died March 30, 1999. She is survived by: sons, James P. Rogers, Morris Bruce Rogers both of Alabaster, and Kenneth Dwight Rogers of Columbiana; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Funeral will be 2:00 P.M., Thursday, at Bolton Brown Chapel with burial at Elliottsville Cemetery. Rev. Willie Littleton officiating. Bolton Brown Service directing.

Geiger, Mrs. Mary, age 53, of Adger passed away March 29, 1999. She was preceded in death by her parents, Aaron and Sarah Nettles. She is survived by her husband, Ricky Geiger; her son Norman; daughter, Kelly Gary of St. Petersburg, FL; sisters, Alice Etheredge of Adger, Rosie Waites of St. Petersburg, FL; brother, Willard Nettles of St. Petersburg, FL; four stepsons; five granddaughters, one grandson; numerous family and friends. Arrangements are being made through Abanks Mortuary & Crematory in Birmingham.

Anderson, Hazel "Collum", age 92, of Smyrna, Georgia (formerly of Jemison, Alabama) died Wednesday, March 31, 1999. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Anderson; and her son, Charles R. Godkin. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. (CST), Saturday, April 1, 1999 at Martin Funeral Home (Clanton, Alabama). Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery (Jemison, Alabama). Survived by: daughter, Janice Dorminey of Smyrna, Ga.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 P.M., Thursday, at Castellaw Funeral Home (Smyrna, Georgia); and 5:00-8:00 P.M., Friday, at Martin Funeral Home (Clanton, Alabama). Smith, Mr. Andrew J., age 78, of Winfield, died Tuesday, March 30, 1999. Mr. Smith was born on May 31, 1920, in Marion County, a son of William Thomas Smith and Dolula Volcie Maddox Smith. A resident of Winfield most of his life, h e retired from Winfield Cotton Mill with forty years service, and is a member of Winfield First Baptist Church. Survivors include: his wife of fifty-seven years, Mrs. Chris tine Perry Smith, Winfield; son, Donald (Sharon) Smith, Win field; daughter, Mrs. Janet (Junior) Aldridge, Winfield; grand son, Jeff Smith; granddaughter, Amy Overton; brother, Thomas Smith, Windfall, Indiana; host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Funeral services to he be held Thursday, April 1, 1999, at 2:00 p.m., from the Winfield First Baptist Church. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Dr. Charles Ballew and Rev. Danny Williams to be the officiating ministers. Burial to follow in the Winfield City Cemetery, with Miles Funeral Home of Winfield directing.

Roberts, Mr. Samuel Martin, age 73, of Albany, died March 31, 1999. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, Louisiana, on Thursday, April 1, 1999, from 6:00 until 10:00 p.m., and on Friday, April 2, 1999, after 8:00 a.m. until service time. Religious services at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Rev. Jerry P. Roberts presiding. Burial in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Roberts was pre ceded in death by: parents, Wade M. and Chesstina Mauldin Roberts, and two brothers, Paul W. and V.W. Roberts. He is survived by: wife, Betty Childress Roberts of Albany; two daughters, Patsy A. Chaney of Zachery and Gail Roberts Brady of Albany; son, Mark A. Taylor, Evelyn King, age 75, of Trussville, Alabama, died March 30, 1999. Native and lifelong resident of Birmingham, retired from Walker Drug with over 20 years of service. Member of the Baptist Faith. Member of the Wahuma Eastern Star Chapter. Visitation is Thursday from 5:30-8:00 P.M. Grave side at Forest Hill will be Friday, April 2, 1999 at 10:00 A.M. Willard Reeves officiating. Survivors: daughters, Carolyn Ann Taylor of Birmingham, Elaine Johnson of Center Point, and Lynn Burns of Trussville; grandchildren, Anna M. Oden, Dawn Payne, Keith Oden, and Scott Burns; brother, William L. King of Cahaba Heights; numerous nieces and nephews. Ridout's Roebuck Chapel directing.

Launius, John Jeptha, Ii, age 85, of Gardendale, Alabama, died Tuesday, March 30, 1999. He was born in Greshamville, Georgia, April 3, 1913. He was a veteran having served in the Pacific on the Submarine USS Bowfin during World War II and later served as an instructor at Great Lakes Naval Base during the Korean War. He was the owner/proprietor of Launius Furniture Company in Warrior, Alabama from the 1950's until his retirement in 1979. A lifelong member and steward of the Methodist Church in both Warrior and Gardendale congregations, Mr. Launius also served as a city councilman in Warrior. Visitation at Messmer-Goodwin Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 31, 1999, between 5:30 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. Chapel service will be Thursday, April 1, beginning at 2:00 P.M. Officiating Clergy: Billy Redding, Clint Busler, and Carl Malone. Burial in Warrior Cemetery (Warrior, Alabama). His survivors include his: sister, Ellen Launius Harding of Leeds, Ala., son, John Jeptha Launius, III and daughter-in-law, Diane, of Warrior; daughter, Pat Launius Federinko and son-in-law, Richard, of Auburn, Ala.; granddaughter, Sandy Launius Mann and her husband, Terry, and three sons, John T., Josh, and Jake; grandson, John Houston Launius and his wife, Hope, and children Jordan, Houston, and Zack; granddaughters, Portia Ellen Newton and Skye Meadows Jenkins; grandson, Chase Jeptha Launius Jenkins. Martin, Cennia Inez, age 79, of Birmingham (formerly of Oneonta), Alabama, died March 30, 1999 in a local nursing home. She was born in Alabama and was a member of Oneonta Church of God. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 31, 1999 from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Lemley Funeral Chapel in Oneonta, Alabama. Chapel service w ill be held Thursday, April 1, 1999 at 2:00 P.M. Ministers: Robert Wamble and Steve McCall. Interment: Green's Chapel (Cleveland, Alabama). She was preceded in death by her: parents, Eli Thomas & Annie Messer Todd; daughter, Linda Faye King; sisters, Emma Copeland, Dorothy Griffin, and Bonnie Reynolds; brothers, Andrew Todd and Monroe Todd. Survivors: children, Marie Southern of Oneonta, Gracie Baker of Birmingham, Glen Price of Birmingham, Delene Nolen of Oneonta, Nancy Morris of Birmingham, and Larry Franks of Birmingham; sisters, Maggie Uptain of Birmingham and Bernell McGowan of Indiana; brother, E.
