Hilda Dean
REFORM, Ala. - Hilda B. Taylor Dean, 80, died June 24, 2003, at her residence. Services are Friday at 11 a.m. at Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Bozeman officiating. Burial will be in the Macedonia cemetery in Pickens County, Ala. Visitation is today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Dowdle Funeral Home in Millport, Ala. Mrs. Dean was born Sept. 15, 1922, in Millport to the late Beely J. and Erma L. Bonner Taylor. She was a retired seamstress for Country Miss of Carrollton, Ala. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Reform. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Shelby Jene and son, Edwin Dale. Survivors include her husband, William Alvie Dean of Reform; sons, Mike Dean, Donald Dean and Daniel Dean; brother, Buford Hayes Taylor; 19 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Mark Dean, Gary Dean, Chuck Ziemer, Brian Dean, Jason Vice and Sean Dean.
Lonnie Deloach Sr.
REFORM, Ala. - Lonnie C. Deloach Sr., 60, died June 20, 2003, at Salem Nursing Home in Reform. Services are Friday at 2 p.m. at Prairie Grove Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. John Poe officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery in Crawford. The body will be at the church one hour prior to service. Visitation is today from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and the family will greet friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Carter's Funeral Home in Columbus. Mr. Deloach was born Sept. 30, 1942, in Noxubee County to the late Ben Robert Deloach and Amy Lee Mason. He worked for Kerr McGee for a number of years as a machine operator until his retirement. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Annie Louise and Joyce Ann Deloach; brother, Ben Deloach Sr. and sister, Pearlie Deloach. Survivors include his sons, Lonnie Deloach Jr. of Columbus, Larry Deloach of West Point, R.D. Deloach of Starkville and John Deloach of Columbus; daughter, Mary Deloach of Columbus; sister, Rosie Deloach of Columbus; brothers, Tommie Cribbs and R.D. Deloach, both of Mansfield, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are his nephews.
Herston Minor
VERNON, Ala. - Alford Herston Minor, 81, died March 24, 2004, at a decedent's residence. Services are Saturday at 2 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Home in Vernon with Jeff Bayne officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Grove Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Minor was born May 16, 1922, in Lamar County, Ala., to the late Jim and Doy Minor. He was a machinist for Hyster and a veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Verdie Rea Minor. Survivors include his daughter, Cynthia Carreras of Vernon; sister, Pauline Olgesby of Columbus; and three grandchildren.
Jewell Anderson
SULLIGENT, Ala. - Jewell Banks Anderson, 89, died March 21, 2004, in Winfield, Ala. Graveside services were Thursday at Taylor Springs cemetery in Sulligent. Otts Funeral Home in Sulligent was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Anderson was born July 17, 1914, in Lamar County, Ala., to the late John and Myrtle Harrison Brown. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Shawnee, Okla. She was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe T. Anderson, and brothers, Odis Brown, Guy Brown and Prentiss Brown.
Survivors include his sons, Dale C. Anderson of Winfield, Ala. and Russell J. Anderson of Jacksonville, N.C.; sisters, Exie Alexander of Belmont and Tollie Mathis of Miami, Okla.; brothers, Roger Brown of Vina, Ala. and Harrison Brown of Huntsville, Ala.; and two grandchildren.
JoAnn Beard
GORDO, Ala. - JoAnn Irene Beard, 67, died May 28, 2004, at her residence. Services are Monday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Sandifer presiding. Burial is in the church cemetery. Skelton Funeral Home of Reform is directing. Visitation is Monday one hour prior to the service at the church. Mrs. Beard was born Aug. 4, 1936, to the late Sam P. and Annie Laurie Parker McGee. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. She was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Ralph Beard of Gordo; daughter, Suzanne Cannon of Gordo; son, Wade Wilson of Coker; sister, June Watkins of Gordo; brothers, Sam P. McGee Jr., Frank H. McGeeand Charles K. McGee, all of Gordo; and three grandchildren. Pallbearers are Mike McGee, Mitch McGee, Darren McGee, Randy Watkins, Brad Smith and Michael McWhorter.
Willie Hankins
CLANTON, Ala. - Willie Mae Finch Hankins, 96, died May 27, 2004, at Hatley Health Care. Services were Saturday at 3 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Home of Vernon with James Cantrell officiating. Burial was in Fairview cemetery in Sulligent. Mrs. Hankins was born March 1, 1908, in Clanton to the late Claude J. and Mary F. Finch. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hankins was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Hankins; daughter, Wynetta H. Pocopanni; and two infants. Survivors include her daughters, Carolyn H. Mullins of Marietta, Ga. and Ann H. Jones of Clanton; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Rex Lacy Sr.
SULLIGENT, Ala. - Rex Lacy Sr., 82, died May 28, 2004, at his residence. Services are Monday at 2 p.m. at Otts Funeral Home Chapel of Sulligent with the Bros. Jerry White, M.H. Hollis, and John Johnson officiating. A military graveside service and burial will follow at Wofford Cemetery. Visitation is today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Lacy was born Feb. 10, 1922, in Lamar County, Ala. to the late Mack and Etta Hill Lacy. He was a graduate of Sulligent High School. He was a member of Freewill Chapel Baptist Church and the American Legion. He was a truck driver and retired from Nacco of Sulligent. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lacy was preceded in death by his brothers, Lawrence Lacy, Clate Lacy, Marris Lacy, Collins Lacy, and Ross Lacy; sister, Lorene Bozeman; and granddaughter, Sherry McClendon. Survivors include his wife, Frances Lacy of Sulligent; son, Rex Lacy Jr. of Vernon; daughter, Linda Hollingsworth of Vernon; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Douglas Crosman, Anthony Crosman, Gary Stacks, Jake Lacy, James Hollis and Tommy Otts.

GUIN, Ala. - Steven Wayne McDonald, 50, died May 28, 2004, at his residence. Services are Monday at 11 a.m. at Faith Fellowship Church in Winfield with the Bros. Harry Sailor, Mark Dean, and Randy Wright officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial is in Olive Hill cemetery in Beaverton. Otts Funeral Home of Sulligent is in charge of arrangements. Visitation is today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. McDonald was born Feb. 24, 1954, in Texas to Dean Martin McDonald and the late Cecil McDonald. He attended Sulligent High School. He attended Faith Fellowship Church in Winfield. He was a driver for Peak Transportation of Guin. In addition to his father, Mr. McDonald was preceded in death by his brother, Mark McDonald. In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Sue McDonald of Guin; grandmother, Ethel Martin of Guin; sons, Jonathon McDonald of Beaverton, Jeremy McDonald of Guin, and Jonathon McDowell of Ft. Sill, Okla.; daughters, Deborah Cobb of Ft. Sill, Okla., and Dorothy Keasler of Guin; brothers, Donny McDonald of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Robin McDonald of Laupahoehoe, Hawaii; and five grandchildren.

VERNON, Ala. - Vela F. Thompson, 92, died May 29, 2004, at Fayette Medical Center in Vernon. Services are Monday at 2 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Home of Vernon with Jeff Bayne officiating. Burial is in Wofford Cemetery. Visitation is Monday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Thompson was born on July 14, 1911, in Alabama. Survivors include her son, John Thompson of Sulligent; daughters, Frances Hester of Phoenix, Ariz., Nell Johnson of Vernon, and Fay Hall of Sulligent; brothers, Rushton Kitchens of Birmingham, Marvin Kitchens of Moline, Ill., and Charles Kitchens of Winfield; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
