Ernestine Stargel
BRYANT, Ala. - Ernestine V. Stargel died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999, in an Orlando, Fla., hospital.
She was 71.
She was an artist, a retired seamstress and a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Bryant.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Becky Stargel.
Survivors include her husband, John D. Stargel; one daughter, Star Farrior, Lakeland, Fla.; two sons, Terry Stargel, Chester, Va., and John Stargel, Las Vegas; two sisters, Shirley Davis, Chattanooga, and Grace 'Cookie' Smith, Ringgold, Ga.; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Moore Funeral home in Trenton, Ga., with the Rev. David Johnson officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Park in Bryant.
The family will receive friends Friday from 4 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Shamblin Tucker
GAYLESVILLE, Ala. - Shamblin Tucker died Monday, Jan. 11, 1999, at his home.
He was 93.
Services will be today at 1 p.m. at Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with the Rev. William Harris and the Rev. James Braddy officiating.
Burial will be in Green Hills Memory Gardens.
Mildred Wilson
FORT PAYNE, Ala. - Mildred Louise Guest Wilson of Fort Payne, Ala., died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, at her home.
She was 86.
Funeral arrangements will be made be Wilson Funeral Home.
Donald Barnett
FLAT ROCK, Ala. - Donald Walter Barnett died Monday, Jan. 4, 1999, in a Decatur, Ala., hospital.
He was 62.
Survivors include two daughters, Jean Anthony, Bridgeport, Ala., and Donna Sanford, Parrish, Ala.; two sons, Danny and Kenny Barnett, Stevenson, Ala.; two brothers, Frank and Olan Barnett, Flat Rock; and five grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday, Jan. 6, at Rudder Funeral Home with the Rev. John Gamble officiating.
Burial was in Liberty cemetery in Henagar, Ala.
Willie Duke
COLLINSVILLE, Ala. - Willie Lee Duke died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, in an area nursing home.
She was 96.
Services will be today at 1 p.m. at Burt Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery.
Melvin Hicks
RAINSVILLE, Ala. - Melvin Franklin Hicks died Monday, Jan. 11, 1999, in an area health care facility.
He was 77.
He was the father of the late Charles Hicks.
Survivors include his wife, Jessie Lee Hicks; three sons, W.L. Hicks, Geraldine, Ala., Kenneth Hicks, Rainsville, and Michael Hicks, Woodbridge, Va.; two daughters, Jayne Collier, Rainsville, and Virginia Coley, Augusta, Ga.; two brothers, Bill and James Hicks, both of Rainsville; two sisters, Mildred Malcom, Altoona, Fla., and Betty Brown, Rainsville; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Rainsville Funeral Home with the Rev. Kevin McCreeless and the Rev. Jim Griffin officiating.
Burial will be in Green's Chapel Cemetery.
Robert Mince
FORT PAYNE, Ala. - Robert D. Mince died Monday, Jan. 11, 1999, in an area hospital.
He was 75.
He was a retired steel cutter from Vulcraft and a member of Fort Payne Masonic Lodge 437.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ruth Roberts Mince; one son, James Bobby Mince, Fort Payne; one sister Wilma Mince, Fort Payne; one brother, J.D. MInce, Fort Payne; two grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Services were held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Griffin officiating.
Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery.
Blanche Raff
RAINSVILLE, Ala. - Blanche Brock Raff of Mountain Home, Ark., and formerly of Rainsville, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999, in an Arkansas nursing home.
She was 82.
Survivors include her husband, Aurther Raff, Mountain Home; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be today at 1 p.m. at W.T. Wilson Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby McGlathery officiating.
Burial will be in Millers Chapel Cemetery.
Shamblin Tucker
GAYLESVILLE, Ala. - Shamblin Tucker died Monday, Jan. 11, 1999, at his home.
He was 93.
He was a Baptist and was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Agnes Tucker and a daughter, Gail Tucker.
Survivors include six daughters, Ruth Pope and Peggy Doherty, Gaylesville, Betty Tucker and Ann Young, Summerville, Ga., and Bonnie Spear and Dorothy Harrelson, Jacksonville, Ala.; one son, Donald Tucker, Mesa, Ariz.; one sister, Janie Meers, Ringgold, Ga.; one brother, John Tucker Jr., Trion; 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with the Rev. William Harris and the Rev. James Braddy officiating.
Burial will be in Green Hills Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
