Joe Johnson
FORT PAYNE, Ala. - Joe M. Johnson died Sunday, March 28, 1999, in an area hospital. He was 64.
Mr. Johnson was a son of the late Leon P. and Annie Howard Johnson.
He retired as a supervisor in the hosiery industry and was a member of Minvale Baptist Church of Fort Payne.
Survivors include his wife, Betty R. Johnson; two sons, Freddy and Boyd Johnson; a sister, Ruth Keef; and five grandchildren.
Services will be today at 3 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home with the Rev. Alton Vaughn officiating.
Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
Beverly Simmons
FORT PAYNE, Ala. - Beverly Ann Simmons died Saturday, March 27, 1999, at her home. She was 53.
Survivors include two sons, Kevin D. Simmons, Fort Payne, and Brian K. Simmons, Auburn, Ala.; a daughter, Amy Leigh Hearn, Gainesville, Fla.; sister, Gail McReynolds, Collinsville, Ala.; brother, Thomas U. Smith, Madison, Ala.
Services will be today at 11 a.m. at Burt Funeral Home with John Morgan officiating.
A graveside service will be Wednesday at Ashford cemetery in Dothan, Ala.
C.W. Strawn
RAINSVILLE, Ala. - Charles William Strawn of Westminster, Calif., a former resident of De Kalb County, Ala., died there Thursday, March 25, 1999. He was 77.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was retired from McDonnell-Douglas in Long Beach, Calif.
Survivors include his wife, Hope Cook Strawn; four daughters, Judy Crabtree and Jane Reese, Panama City, Fla., Paula Tynon, Westminster, Calif., and Marla Rohr, Orange, Calif.; two sisters, Madria Levy, Magnolia Springs, Ala., and Jean Posey, Montgomery, Ala.; a brother, Bob Strawn, Gurley, Ala.; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be today at 11 a.m. at Liberty Baptist Church with minister Kenneth Fry officiating.
Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
Arrangements are by W.T. Wilson Funeral Home, Rainsville, Ala.
Billy Childress
HENAGAR, Ala. - Billy L. Childress died Sunday, March 28, 1999, in a Chattanooga hospital. He was 32.
He was preceded in death by a son, Christian C. Childress.
Survivors include his wife, Stephanie Denise Childress, Fort Payne, Ala.; mother, Betty N. Shaw Cole, Henagar; son, Damian R. Childress, Fort Payne; two daughters, Carla Colburn, Carbon Hill, Ala., and Krista Haley Patterson, Rossville, Ga.; three brothers, Bobby Childress and his twin, Alvin Childress, Henagar, and Gregg Cole, Fort Payne; grandfather, Harvey A. "Buck' Shaw, Henagar.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. CST at Kerby Funeral Home with the Rev. Lee Earl Thomopson officiating.
Burial will be in Beulah Chapel cemetery in Cartersville, Ala.
Ralph Crane
FORT PAYNE, Ala. - Ralph Lamar Crane died Tuesday, March 30, 1999, at his home. He was 54.
Mr. Crane was a native of De Kalb County and a truck driver.
Survivors include his wife, Carmela L. Crane, Fort Payne; three daughters, Penney D. and Carrie Ann Crane and Candie Crossman, all of Fort Payne; three sisters, Gladys Knight, Fort Payne, and Inez and Sue Kelley, Farmersville, Texas; and two grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Burt Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
James Wellington
STEVENSON, Ala. - James L. Wellington died Sunday, March 28, 1999, in an area hospital. He was 80.
Mr. Wellington was a veteran of World War II and a retired TVA employee from Widows Creek Plant in Stevenson.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Wellington; five sons, Leon, Henry, Roy, Jerry and Bruce Wellington, all of Stevenson; three brothers, Rubin White and Jordan Wellington, both of Stevenson, and Leonard E. Wellington Sr., Chattanooga; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be today at 1 p.m. CST at Rudder Funeral Home with the Rev. William H. Langford officiating.
Burial will be in Stevenson Community Cemetery.
Austin Wilborn
RAINSVILLE, Ala. - Austin Cole Wilborn, the infant son of Stephanie Renae Wilborn and Terry Terrell, died Monday, March 29, 1999, in an area hospital.
Other survivors include his grandparents, Danny and Monna Wilborn, Rainsville, and Ronnie and Diane Terrell, Henagar, Ala.; great-grandparents, Hubert and Delphia Wilborn, Section, Ala., and Hershel Stanford, Rainsville.
A graveside service was held Tuesday in Corinth Cemetery.
Arrangements were made by W.T. Wilson Funeral Home, Rainsville.
Katherine Carroll
STEVENSON, Ala. - Katherine "Kitty' Carroll died Wednesday, March 17, 1999, in an area hospital. She was 88.
Survivors include two daughters, Ann McCrary, and Jayne Carroll, Stevenson; son, David Carroll, Atlanta; two sisters, Frances Carroll, Stevenson, and Lillian Click, Kimball, Tenn.; brother, Dick Ballard, Stevenson; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in Stevenson City Cemetery.

VALLEY HEAD, Ala. - Lillian Clark died Tuesday, March 16, 1999, at her home. She was 69.
