BRIDGEPORT, AL - L.D. Cates died Saturday, April 24, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 71.
He was a Baptist and a son of the late Roy Estill and Maggie Walker Cates.
Survivors include his wife, Bertha M. Cates, Duxbury, Mass.; five daughters, Linda Rothman, Mililiani, Hawaii, Wanda Andrews, Duxbury, Annette Wallace, Weaverille, N.C., Rina Lewis, Murrell's Inlet, S.C., and Janet Titisel, Newport News, Va.; three sisters, Ruby Salter, Evan, Ga., Kay Ford, Kimball, Tenn., and Martha Kluttz, Bridgeport; two brothers, Estill Cates Jr. and Merrill Cates, both of Bridgeport; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg, with the Rev. George Maynor officiating.
Burial will be in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.
Cleo Hunter
FORT PAYNE, AL - Cleo Tate Hunter died Sunday, April 25, 1999, in an area health care facility. She was 98.
Mrs. Hunter was a native of De Kalb County and a member of Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, MeloneeScott, Fort Payne; a sister, Patsy Picklesimmer, Albertville, Ala.; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home with the Rev. Oren Ledford officiating.
Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
Lena Miller
FORT PAYNE - Lena Miller died Tuesday, April 27, 1999. She was 86.
She was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, J.P. "Buddy' Miller, Fort Payne; two daughters, Diane McCurdy, Henagar, Ala., and Joyce Clements, Fort Payne; sister, Myrtle Hartline, Pieneville, Ga.; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Fort Payne with the Rev. Eulas Hughes and the Rev. Harold Eberhart officiating.
Burial will be in Adamsburg Cemetery.
Myrtle Hawthorne
FORT PAYNE, Ala. - Myrtle E. Hawthorne died Thursday, March 4, 1999, in an area medical center. She was 82.
She was a homemaker, the widow of Lawrence Hawthrone and the mother of the late Joyce Hawthorne and Wilma Jean Blevins.
Survivors include one daughter, Ellon White, Fort Payne; two sisters, Ollie Craig, Trion, Ga., and Bea Bumgardner, Chattanooga; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be today at noon at Burt Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Mitchell and the Rev. Jerry Williams officiating.
Burial will be in Adamsburg Cemetery.

SCOTTSBORO, Ala. - Lillian Forestine Roberts Fairbanks died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, in a Jackson County Hospital.
Services will be today at 11 a.m. CST at Kerby Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Friendship cemetery in Pisgah, Ala.

BRIDGEPORT, Ala. - Charles Michael McCanless, the infant son of Charles and Holly Smith McCanless of Bridgeport, died Wednesday, March 10, 1999, in a local hospital.
A graveside service will be today at 2 p.m. CST in Welcome View Methodist Church cemetery in Henagar, Ala., with the Rev. Arnold Dean Johnson officiating.
There will be no visitation at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

FORT PAYNE, Ala. - Clara Sue LaMunyon Mitchell died Thursday, March 1, 1999, at a local hospital. She was 67.

Survivors include his son, Steve Seale, Stevenson, Ala.; his mother, Mary Elizabeth Seale, Bridgeport; one sister, Dorothy Summers, Stevenson; six brothers, Kenneth, Jerry and David Seale, Chattanooga, Bill Seale, Florida, Jimmy Seale, Bridgeport, and Joe Seale, Huntsville, Ala.; and one grandson.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. CST at Rudder Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Harris Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 2 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

VALLEY HEAD, Ala. - Jerry Ray Wigley Sr. died Thursday, March 18, 1999,. in an area hospital. He was 52.
He was a truck driver for Earthgrains and was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Edith Guyton Wigley.
