Services for Miss Jewel Watley, 91, of Randolph were Tuesday, October 27, at 2 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home's Chapel with the Rev. Evie Megginson officiating. Burial was in Cedar Grove Methodist Church cemetery with Martin Funeral Home directing. Miss Watley died October 25, at Randolph. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Gracie Cleckler of Sylacauga, and several nieces and nephews.

Blackmon, Millie Delene (Watley)

Funeral services for Millie Delene (Watley) Blackmon, 81, of Thorsby were November 16, 1997 at Martin Funeral Home with the Rev. Harry Gulledge officiating. Interment was at Pine Hill cemetery with Martin Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Blackmon died on Nov. 13, 1997, at her home in Thorsby. She is survived by three daughters: Pauline Blackmon of Thorsby and Pat Holsembeck and Louise Cleckler of Jemison; three sisters: Polly Sanson of Thorsby and Geneva Parker and Slverda Patterson of Jemison; a brother, Sylvester Robinson of Jemison; three step-daughters: Irene Evans and Sadie Blow of Jemison, Shirley Blackmon of Troy; a step-son, Horace Blackmon of Columbia, S.C.; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Hampton, Anna Delene (Watson)
January 28, 1905 - February 11, 1998
Funeral services for Anna Delene Hampton, 93, of Maplesville are today, February 13, 1998 at 2 P.M. at Maplesville Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Gatlin and Rev. Clayton Gilbert officiating. Burial is in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Maplesville with Martin Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Hampton was born Jan. 28, 1905, in Chilton County to the late William Jefferson and Annie Gallman Watson. She was a homemaker. She died Feb. 11, 1998 at the Columbia Four Rivers Medical Center in Selma. She is survived by a son, James L. Hampton of Maplesville; tow daughters-in-law, Marcelle S. Hampton of Maplesville and Rita F. Hampton of Elcajon, CA; a brother, T. C. Watson of Maplesville; two granddaughters: Anna Marcia Smitherman of Plantersville and Valerie Hunter of Ramona, Ca; two grandson: Robert Curtis Hamton of Tuscon, Ariz. and James Lewis Hampton, Jr. of Clanton; and six great-grandchildren.

Watson, Theron C.
1910 - July 06, 1999
Theran C. Watson, 89, of Wewahitchka, Fla., formerly of Clanton, died Tuesday, July 6, 1999, at his daughter's home. Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at Maplesville Baptist church with the Rev. Arthur Hartley and the Rev. Ron Gatlin officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn cemetery with Martin Funeral Home directing. Survivors include his wife, Frances Watson; one son, Tom and wife Kathy Watson; one daughter, Mary Ann and husband Charles Pitts; five grandchildren, Lee Ann and Husband Johnny Perry, Cory and wife Janey Pitts, Jeff and wife Jodi Watson, Brian and wife Renee Pitts, and David Pitts; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Watson was a veteran of World War II, having served in France and Germany in the Third Army. He operated a Standard Oil and Chevron service station in Maplesville for 40 years. He was a member, deacon and trustee of the Maplesville Baptist Church, a 50-year member of the Mason Lodge and member of the VFW Post. Pallbearers will be Cory Pitts, Brian Pitts, David Pitts, Jeff Watson, Johnny Perry and Jimmy Hampton. Honorary pallbearers are deacons of Maplesville Baptist Church and Masons.

Watts, Johnnie

Services for Johnnie Lou "Big John" Watts, 64, of Clanton will be Wednesday, October 13 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel at 1 p.m. with Rev. Jerry Milliken officiating. Burial will follow in the Temple Assembly of God Cemetery. Friends will be received today at Martin Funeral Home Chapel from 5-8 p.m. Watts died Sunday, October 10 at Chilton Medical Center. Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Watts of Clanton; two daughters, Sheila M. Watts of Clanton and Crystal R. Watts of Clanton; brother, Jimmy Watts of Clanton; nephews, Brian Watts and Jeremy Watts, both of Clanton.

Weathers, Lucille Frances

Funeral services for Lucille Frances Weathers, 72, Prattville will be held at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church on Wednesday, Sept 15, 1999, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. William Short officiating. Burial will follow at Pilgrim Rest Baptist cemetery at Plantersville, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be at Martin Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, from 5-8 p.m. Weathers was born on Jan. 17, 1927, in Alabama, the daughter of the late Marion and Mamie Chandler. She was a homemaker. She died at her residence on Sept. 13, 1999. Survivors include her husband, Tommy Weathers, Prattville; five daughters, Faye Smith, Maplesville, Brenda Brasher, Plantersville, Peggy Smith, Prattville, Judy Ross, Selma, and Martha Mims, Clanton; four sons, Donald Weathers, Selma, J.C. Weathers, James Weathers, and Richard Weathers, all of Prattville; two brothers, Bert Chandler and Barney Chandler, both of Maplesville; three sisters, Eva Burnett, Selma, and Nettie B. Broadhead and Eula Mae Hayes, both of Clanton; 20 grandchildren.

Scott, Bernice (Webb)
June 25, 1911 - March 13, 2000
Funeral services for Mrs. Bernice W. Scott, 88, of Jemison, will be held at 2 p.m. today at Center Hill Baptist Church in Jemison, with the Rev. William Short and the Rev. Thomas Hilyer officiating. Burial will follow at Center Hill Baptist Cemetery, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Scott was born in Chilton County on June 25, 1911 to the late William and Janie Nix Webb. She died on March 13, at Hatley Health Care in Clanton. She was a homemaker. She is survived by two daughters, Doris Smith and Lucille Martin, both of Jemison; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren.

Rockett, Lula (Webb)
1856 - 1942
Dated 2-26-1942, Mrs. Lula Rockett, age 85, died at Coopers Tuesday Burial was at Chestnut Creek. She is survived by 1 Son, J. Thomas Rockett of Clanton, 6 Grandchildren. She was the daughter of John B. Webb who came from Ga. to Ala. She lived all her life at Coopers. Four Grandsons and two Grandsons-In-Law served as Pall Bearers.

Puckett, V. Avoleen (Webb)

Funeral services for Avoleen Webb Puckett, 88, Scottsdale, Ariz., will be held on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at 2 p.m. at Mulberry Baptist Church, with Rev. David Bishop officiating. Burial will follow at Mulberry Baptist cemetery in Maplesville, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be at Mulberry Baptist Church on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, from 1-2 p.m. Puckett was born on July 31, 1911, in Coosa County, the daughter of Sidney and Laura Webb. She was a homemaker. She died on Feb. 3, 2000, in Scottsboro, Ariz. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Walker, Scottsdale, Ariz., and Annie Laura Giddens, Tallahassee, Fla.; one son, Jimmie Lee Pate, Mobile; four step-children; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Popwell, Ann R. (Welch)
1935 - November 06, 2004
Mrs. Ann R. Popwell, 69, of Fayetteville, died Saturday, November 6. She was born to Raymond Welch and Olive Yarborough. Her father died when she was three weeks old and her adopted father was Clarence Fiquette. She was a member of North Fayette United Methodist Church. She went to Huntington College and was a graduate of Auburn University. She was a homemaker and an artist. She was a member of Xi Epsilon Zeta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, which bestowed upon her, The Master Degree. She was past president of Georgia World Organization of Porcelain Artists. Her works include China place settings at the Georgia Governor's Mansion as commissioned by Mrs. Joe Frank Harris. She is survived by her husband, Herman Joseph Popwell of Fayetteville; her mother, Olive Yarborough Wadsworth of Christian City, formerly of Clanton; daughter, Olive Popwell Ashley and husband Kenneth J. of Newnan; one son, Robert K. Popwell of Forest Park; four grandchildren, Christopher B. Popwell and triplets, Emmaline Anne, Thomas, and Joseph Ashley. Service was Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Carl J. Mowell and Son, Fayetteville with Rev. Doug Burrell officiating. Burial will follow in the Camp Memorial Gardens.

Gore, Mary Katherine (Weldon)
1850 - January 12, 1940
Mrs. Mary Katherine Gore, age 88, of Clanton, Route 4, died at the home of her son, R. B. Gore Friday at 3:00 P.M., after a short illness. Mrs. Gore was born and reared in this county and has resided here all her life. Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday from the New Salem Church with Revs. L. P. Lowery and Homer Carroll conducting. Spigener Funeral Home of Clanotn, in charge of burial. Surviving are two sons, R. B. and J. W. Gore of Clanton; one daughter, Mrs. H. C. Cox of Clanton; twenty-four grandchildren and forty-three great grandchildren.

Pierce, Sara Elma (Weldon)

Funeral services for Sara W. Pierce, 89, Thorsby, will be held at Bethsalem Baptist Church on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Hershel Blalock, Rev. James Moore, and Rev. Donny Burns. Burial will follow at Bethsalem Baptist cemetery in Billingsley, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Pierce was born on March 25, 1913, in Autauga County, the daughter of the late J. Enoch Weldon and the late Sarah Ann Weldon. She was a seamstress. She died on Sept 30, 2002, at her residence. Survivors include one daughter, Pat P. Lockhart, Thorsby; one son-in-law, Alton L. Lockhart, Thorsby; three grandsons, Tony Pierce, Ricky Pierce, Chad Lockhart, all of Clanton; four granddaughters, Melissa Lockhart, Christy Hayes, Julie Lockhart, Stacey Davenport, all of Clanton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Euen I. Pierce, and one son, Derrell Pierce.

Mullins, Mary Ann (Wells)

Mrs. Mary Ann Wells Mullins, sometimes known as "Aunt Mollie", age 89, died Nov. 10. She was the Widow of James Toliver Mullins who died 35 years ago. She is survived by 3 Daughters, Mrs. Clara Jackson, Mrs. Sarah Roberts, and Miss Bettie Mullins, 1 Sister, Mrs. Sarah Alice Mullins of Clanton. She was daughter of Late Mr. and Mrs. Kenyon Wells. Burial was in the Clanton City Cemetery.

Wells, Ruth Loese
May 26, 1913 - April 21, 2003
Funeral services for Ruth Loese Wells, 89 of Prattville, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at Antioch Methodist Church with Rev. William Short and Rev. Rodger Parks officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Methodist cemetery in Maplesville. Born on May 26, 1913 to Columbus Richard Wells and Polly Jane Wells, she died April 21, 2003 at Prattville Baptist Hospital. Survivors include her son Winford (Helen) Crane of Saraland; daughters, Janell (Mac) McWirter of Acworth, Ga., and Charlene (Wilt) Hilyer of Prattville; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, sister Katie Lee Culp of Elmore, a host of loving nephews and nieces. She was preceded in dath by her husband Hudson Crane.

Mrs. Alice Wells Mullins, age 83, died in Clanton Sunday. Burial was at Clanton City Cemetery. She is survived by 3 Sons, J. Renfroe Mullins of Clanton, William K. and Frank Mullins of Mobile, 3 Daughters Mrs. J. Watts Moore and Mrs. John B. DeRamus of Clanton, and Mrs. Amzi Gowan of Brewton, Ala. She was the daughter of the Late Kenyon Wells and she was the Widow of Mr. W. I. Mullins.

Davis, Verta Ruth (Wells)

Davis was born on Nov. 1, 1914, in Chilton County, the daughter of the late Keener Wells and the late Mattie Lou Bruce Wells. She was a homemaker. She died on Dec. 19, 2001, at Hatley Health Care in Clanton. Survivors include three sons, Olin Davis and Laurence Davis, Both of Clanton, and Ralph Davis, Eclectic; three daughters, Betty Edwards and Debbie Jones, both of Clanton, and Janice Wright, Moody; 15 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Davis.

West, Zena Alice
November 22, 1910 - May 26, 2001
Funeral services for Zena Alice West, 90 and a resident of Clanton, were held on Monday, May 28, 2001 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. John d. Trobaugh and Rev. Fred Zeigler officiating. Interment followed at Chilton Memorial Gardens. Born on Nov. 22, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Luke Garner and the late Elma Garner. A weaver, she died on May 26, 2001 at Chilton Medical Center in Clanton. She is survived by two sisters, Buna Ward and Eunice Moore, both of Jemison; 13 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.

Adams, Martha Jane (Whatley)
May 04, 1845 - December 22, 1929
Mrs. Martha J. Adams, Wife of Judge S. M. Adams was buried Dec. 23, 1929. She was born 8-9-1845, Daughter of Elisha Whatley, Jr. of Perry County. She is survived by one Son, Enoch Adams of Thorsby and a Sister, Mrs. Heath of Clanton. Three of their Children are buried in the Family cemetery Lot here: Dr. J. B. Adams, Mrs. Leila Hester, Wife of T. J. Hester, and Lillie Adams.

White, Jerald Clark, Judge
August 21, 1907 - April 25, 1999
Funeral services for Jerald Clark White, 91, Auburn, will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 1999, at 2 p.m. at Mulberry Baptist Church in Chilton County, with Elder Lewis Culver, Rev. David Bishop, Elder Charlie Tucker, and Elder Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow at New Harmony Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, with Martin Funeral Home directing. White was born in Chilton County on Aug. 21, 1907. He was a graduate of Jacksonville State University, and the University of Alabama. He was a teacher and principal for over 35 years. He was active in civic and government affairs and served as probate judge of Chilton County. He also operated a cattle farm prior to his retirement in 1974. He was a deacon and a member of the Hopewell Primitive Baptist Church in Opelika. He died at his residence at Atria Park of Auburn Retirement Community on Sunday, April 25, 1999. Among the survivors are his wife, Betsy Johnson White (whom he married on June 21, 1998), A
uburn; two sons, George White, Auburn, and Sherrell White, Thorsby; one brother, Archie White, Tallahassee, Fla.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death was his wife, Lurline Vinzant White, and one son, Gerald Calvin White. The family requests no flowers. Memorial may be sent to Peoples Southern Bank, J.C. White-Isabella High School Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 269, Clanton, Ala.
